THE NURSING HOME VISIT Dear Diary, I want to tell you about our nursing home visit. Our teacher, Mrs. Bennet took us to nursing home yesterday. We were very excited because it was our first nursing home visit. Firstly, our mothers cooked some meals for the people at the nursing home. Then, Mrs. Bennet 4 bought some presents for them. And she wanted us to take a book with us. We didn’t understand the reason but we did. Yesterday morning, we took the bus from the school and went to the nursing home. There was a nice building in the forest. We entered the building and we greeted the old people. They felt very happy and excited when they saw us. We hugged them and we served the meals. We ate our mothers’ meals together. They thanked us and then we began to chat. Most of the old people didn’t have a family and they had to stay there. Some old people preferred staying at nursing home because they wanted to be together with their old fellows.

After that, Mrs. Bennet gave some presents for them. 5 They felt pleased. I could see their happiness in their eyes. And finally, Mrs. Bennet said “Come on children! Let’s read for our elder friends.” We were surprised and happy. We read books for them. Sometimes we had a break and talked about the book. They felt very glad. In the evening, we said goodbye to them and promised to visit them again. When I left there, I was thankful to Mrs. Bennet. She wanted to show us the respect to our elders. I feel very happy now and I will visit the nursing home again. I have new friends there. Diana
