A NOTE From The Chair In the department of visual communication design (VCD), students rigorously learn traditional design core and radically explore the newest design trends. Beyond the department, students forge their combinations within one of the most interdisciplinary art and design schools in the world, making connections across media and disciplines, often combining print, new interactive technologies, photography, sound, sculpture/installation, film/video, performance, and more. VCD’s mission is to help craft a pathways for each student who will lead the future. This book showcases the journey of each student.

From The Designer The Odyssey is an ode to the plethora of the multiperspectivity and multiculturality of designers which the School of Art Institute of Chicago commemorate ‘s. It is indefinite, nonlinear, and unbounded in its nature. It embraces each designer’s uniqueness and celebrates every milestone along the way. As the name suggests, we encounter an adventurous and venturesome journey with many milestones which facilitates our unique pathway’s direction. The pipeline renders transcend the viewers into this world of odysseys, they function as a metaphor for each student’s unique journey of perspective and the diverse trajectory it follows to transport them to their next destination in life. 02
