I am delighted to be a memberof our exemplary chapter and it is an honor to collaborate with you as we continue to dothe extraordinary work in support of fulfilling NABA’s mission.NABA provides an entry point to pre-professional and professional opportunities for ourAfrican-American students and the fabric of what makes NABA significant and ourmission continues to be relevant, 46 years later.I salute and thank our corporate sponsors who value our mission and for Embracing aCulture of Diversity and Inclusion. I praise the NABA NY Chapter and Baruch’s Alumnifor Preserving our Legacy of Excellence.For 37 years our Baruch Chapter students have excelled by participating inleadership programs, internships, case study competitions, mentorships, andattending the Eastern Region Conference and National Convention. The impact on theirlives is priceless and generations of students have benefitted from the efforts of ourcorporate sponsors, the NABA professional chapter, Baruch Alumni and many faculty andstaff.Congratulations to our graduating seniors, please remember our founding facultyAdvisor Patricia Johnson often said NABA is a lifetime commitment.Finally, I applaud the e-board for your many accomplishments this year and you are sourceof inspiration for me. You have fostered a sense of community by supporting each otherand holding each other accountable as needed. Monique, you embody graciousprofessionalism and you rise to the challenges we faced. Oyin you have mastered the truemeaning of leadership, that is to empower others.Our members- it is with distinct pride that I call you my students and hope youembrace the many opportunities for growth and professional development available toyou.



Oyin Akindele President, NABA Baruch College ChapterGreetings NABA Family, Faculty, Corporate Sponsors, and Guests:It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our 37th Annual Awards dinner on thebehalf of the NABA Baruch executive board and members as we commend and recognizethe key contributors to this year’s successes. This year’s theme is “Embracing a Culture ofDiversity and Inclusion; Preserving a Legacy of Excellence.” The NABA Baruch executiveboard has focused on instilling in our members, not only the tools needed to becomeprofessionally acute, but the sense of duty to give back and honor our organization’s mottoLifting As We Climb.Our chapter continues to be at the forefront in aiding African-American students on theBaruch campus to pursue their academic and professional endeavors. It has been myprivilege to watch our members exhibit empowerment, leadership, service, andcommitment and utilize the skills they have acquired at NABA events to secure internshipsand full-time positions with top firms.I am honored to have served as the President of this illustrious chapter. The smallest tokenof my appreciation is not enough to showcase the gratitude I feel from NABA’scontribution to my personal, academic and career goals. This chapter has guided me on apathway that not only uplifts my professional aspirations, but one that has urged me to be aleader within my community. I would like to thank the NABA New York professionalchapter for their devotion to the success of our members. They have continued to providethe support and training our members need for college and for Corporate America. Ourcorporate sponsors have gone above and beyond this year to provide opportunities to ourmembers and because of this we will like to acknowledge them and show appreciation to thevalue they place on diversity and the changing corporate environment.The new leadership from the upcoming executive board has dedicated themselves to thischapter. I am most certain that they will maintain NABA Baruch’s robust culture on and offcampus and further the legacy our chapter’s previous leadership has been able to build.Thank you for attending the 37th Annual Awards Dinner, I hope you enjoy your evening.

Egwu Nwankpa CPA, CIA, CGMA Vice President, Bank of AmericaEgwu Nwankpah is currently a Vice President at Bank of America. At Bank ofAmerica, Egwu is part of the bank’s global risk management team where he dealsprimarily in the international supply chain management, process improvement andthird party management spaces.Previously, Egwu was a Manager in the Deloitte’s Financial Services group of Deloitte& Touché LLP. In that role Egwu provided auditing and accounting services to bothpublic and private clients, inclusive of banks, broker dealers and mortgage banks.Egwu has more than 15 years of combined relevant experience in the realms ofinternal audit and advisory services as well as audit and attest clients, which haveincluded extensive experience with the assessment of internal controls andconsulting.Egwu earned his Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree with an emphasis inAccounting from Andrews University where graduated as a member of theprestigious J. N. Andrews Honors Program. He holds a MBA from the R.H. SmithSchool of Business at the University of Maryland, where his focus area was GlobalStrategy.Egwu is a Certified Public Accountant (NY, MD, and CA), Certified Internal Auditor(IIA), and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (AICPA). Egwu is alsomember of NABA, AICPA, IIA, MACPA, NYSSCPA, and GWSCPA.In his spare time Egwu is very involved local and national civic activities, churchactivities, cheering for various sports teams, and most importantly spendingquality time with his beautiful wife and daughter. Egwu is an active member ofNABA, where he has been a member since 1999.
