This is sometimes called vibration white fingeras it can cause fingertips to turn white.Other signsOther signs of damage are tingling in your fingers and numbness. If you need to use vibrating equipment there are things to do to reduce the risk of damage:•Wear gloves•Only use for a short time•Do not grip the equipment too tightly.Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Level 1

Unit 4 Know risks to health within a construction environmentCompensation for hand / arm vibrationIs it rare?In 2012 the government compensated a total of 175,000 cases of vibration white finger from the old coal mining industry alone. Many of the miners had died and the total bill for the government was nearly two billion pounds, (exactly £1,724,514,229). It works out at about £10,000 each (not a lot) but it includes the solicitors’ fees.So it’s not rare!https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/48283/4490-vwf-detailed-statistics.pdfGoogle itIf you Google “Vibration White Finger Compensation” you’ll get loads of solicitors who specialise in taking claims for compensation. So it’s a common problem.Health and Safety in a Construction Environment Level 1
