Using Goal Seek Goal Seek is a tool to get the desired result in a cell by changing a value in another cell. The steps to use Goal Seek are: 1. Use Goal Seek to set the value ‘70’ in the cell B7, by changing marks in cell B6. Glossary Chart : A chart is a pictorial representation of the data. Goal Seek : Goal Seek is a tool to get the desired result in a cell by changing a value in another cell. Supplement Google Sheets Google Sheets is a free tool to create and work with spreadsheets online for free. Here is a quick introduction to Goggle Sheets. To work with the Sheets, you need to have a Google account as a Gmail ID. Google Sheets Interface Like any standard spreadsheet program, every Google Sheet is a set of rows and columns. There is a menu bar and a common toolbar with common tools available on it. Anyone who has worked earlier on electronic spreadsheets can easily work with Google Sheets instantly. Creating a sheet Go to your Google drive and click on New > Google Sheets > Blank spreadsheet.The data entered is saved automatically. All basic editing and formatting operations are just like any standard worksheet program like MS-Excel. Sorting and Filtering: These actions can be performed by opening Data menu. Sort Range… option allows sorting data in a selected range of cells. You can specify one or more columns to sort the data alphabetically or in ascending or descending order. 106

Create new filter view… option allows creating various filters on the data range. Data can be filtered by values or on the basis of certain condition like values less than 3000. Sharing and Downloading Sheet These actions can be performed in the sheet using File menu. Sharing sheet: To share the sheet, enter the email IDs of the recipients and specify if they can edit, comment or only view the sheet. You can also get a sharable link and email it to intended recipients. Downloading sheet: Sheet can be downloaded to work offline using Download… option. It provides choices if different file formats to download in. Basic Arithmetic: The basic arithmetic and common formulas in Google Sheets are like any other standard worksheet program.  SUM: adds values in a cell range.  AVERAGE: finds the average of the values in a cell range.  MAX: finds the highest value among the values in a cell range.  MIN: finds the lowest value among the values in a cell range.  COUNT: counts the values in a cell range. Using More functions… options you can access the whole list of functions provided by Google Sheets. You will notice that most of them are similar to those in name and syntax as in other standard spreadsheet programs. Conditional Formatting: Open Format menu and select Conditional Formatting… option to apply formatting on the selected cells depending on the given condition. You can select the condition for formatting from a dropdown list in the Conditional Formatting… panel. Specify any values to be checked and then specify the cell formatting or select default formatting 107

Internet helps us to access and share information on any topic. Information on Internet ranges from various types such as text files, music files, video clips, software, etc. The most important feature of the Internet is that it is easier for people to communicate with one another. Internet-Based Communication Tool Internet comprises of the different types of communication tools. Some examples of Internet-based communication tools are: • E-mail • Chatting or Instant Messaging • E-greetings • Groups • Blogs • E-Community • Video and Photo Sharing 108

E-mail (Electronic Mail) The most widely used Internet-based communication tool is an e-mail. The term e-mail refers to Electronic Mail. E-mail is a communication system that sends and receives messages through the internet by using specific e-mail addresses or e-mail IDs. It identifies the receiver with an address similar to the postal mailing system. [email protected] is an example of an e-mail address. E-mail system is managed by Mail Servers. There are so many mail servers available on the internet, such as Yahoo mail, Gmail, Hotmail, Rediffmail and so on. Through e-mail we can send any type of information such as text messages, music files, video files, images, etc. It stores the mails in the inbox and allows the user to read them at any time and any place or location. Advantages of e-mail E-mail offers many advantages over traditional mailing system. Some of the advantages are as follows: 1. Sending and receiving e-mail is very fast. It is received and delivered within seconds across the world. 2. E-mail is an affordable means of communication Note as compared to other systems. An e-mail account is required 3. Sending and receiving e-mail is very easy and to send or receive e-mails. convenient. Any type of files can be sent as an attachment through e-mail. To create an e-mail account 1. Open any browser.(Internet Explorer or Firefox or Chrome. 2. Type any e-mail service provider’s URL in the address bar. E.g. http://www.gmail.com. 3. 4. A registration form will appear. Fill the registration form carefully and submit it. 5. A congratulation message will appear. Now go to your email account and login. 6. To use the e-mail account, you must login or sign in using your e-mail id/user name and password. The login/sign in system of different e-mail accounts may differ, but they all offer some of the common features which are explained in following sections: Important Components of Gmail Window Inbox The Inbox consists of all received e-mails. Each e-mail has its message header which shows you who has sent the mail, subject line, time and date when the mail was sent. By clicking it, the contents will appear. Check your Inbox 110

Compose Mail The compose mail option enables us to create a new mail which we want to send to someone. The steps to create a new mail and send to someone, are: 1. Click on Compose button located on the left side pane. A Compose mail frame appears. 2. Type the e-mail address in the To box. 3. Type the subject name in the Subject box to send it with message. 1 4. Type your message in the 2 message box. 3 5. Click on the Attachment if 4 you wish to attach any file. 65 (The File Upload dialog box appears after clicking on Attachment option to select the attachments). 6. Click on Send button. Send a Mail with attachment Note If you don’t want to send the e-mail then you can save it and send it later. The saved e-mail is stored in the Drafts. To save the message and store it in drafts, click on Save Now button. This button is available near the Send button. Reply Mail Reply Mail is used to reply to the mail at the time when you receive and read it. Steps to reply the mail are: 1. Click on mail, which you want to reply. 2. Now, click on Reply 2 option. 3 3. A new frame appears 4 below the mail details, to type your reply . Reply to a mail 4. Click on Send button. Your message will be sent. 111

Forward Mail You can send a copy of the received mail to other people by forwarding it. Steps to forward the mail are: 1. Click on mail, which you want to forward. 2. Now, click on 2 arrow next to 3 the Reply option. A menu appears. 3. Select Forward option. 4. A new frame appears below the mail details, to forward the message. 5 5. Type the email address of the recipient in To 6 text box. Forwarding a mail Note: you can add the text in the message. 6. Click on Send button. Your message will be forwarded. Note You can send mail, reply to the mail, forward mail to multiple people at once. To do this, you just need to type multiple email IDs separated by a comma ‘ ,’. Delete Mail 2 You can delete one or more e-mail 1 messages at once by selecting the e-mail in the inbox. After selecting the e-mail by clicking on check box in the inbox, just click on Delete button. All the selected e- mails will be deleted. Delete a mail 112

Sign Out After using an e-mail account, you must logout it properly so that nobody else can access your mail. To close your mail account properly, you need to sign out or logout. Steps to sign out from the account are: 1. Click on the drop- 1 down arrow, next to the your email 2 account name (on 3 the top-right of the window). 2. A drop-down dialog box appears. 3. Click on Sign out button. Sign out from account Chatting or Instant Messaging Chatting or Instant Messaging is another online communication tool that is commonly used. It allows two or more people to send and receive messages at the same time. This facility comes along with the e-mail account. Yahoo, Gmail, Facebook, Skype provide this facility on different interfaces. The given images show the instant messaging tools. 1. Click on Search button to search and send the chatting request to someone, who is online. 2. Type the name or email address of the person and press Enter key. 3. If the person or email address is found, the name and profile image appear on the left pane. Click on the name of the person and begin chatting in the chat popup window. Advantages of instant messaging 1. Using instant messaging, user can send and receive messages and files quickly. 2. Instant messaging allows the user to even see and talk through webcams and microphones. Working with Gmail on Mobile Device Gmail is a free and one of the most popular email services on the Web by Google. Downloading Gmail App Gmail generally comes preinstalled on your Android phone. However, it can be downloaded by going to Goggle Play Store with simple search  Open your apps menu and go to Play Store (Android Marketplace) from your android phone. Search the latest version of Gmail.  Click Install and then open the Gmail app. Creating an Email Account on Mobile Gmail  Touch the menu on the top left Hamburger Menu Icon  At the top, touch the down arrow to the right of your existing username.  Touch Add account. and then touch Google option.  Follow the steps on the screen to add your account and choose the new Gmail username email with a password that you want to add in this phone. Composing and Sending Mail  In the Gmail app, at bottom right, tap Compose.  In the To field add recipients.  Add a subject.  Write your message.  At the top of the screen, tap Send. Attaching Files while Sending Mail 1. Tap Attach. 2. Tap Attach file or Insert from Drive. 3. Choose the file you want to attach. 114

Replying and Forwarding Mails There are 2 modes to respond to any email message - i. Reply: sends back reply to only the actual sender, ii. Reply all: replies to all the persons who have received the message as well as the sender. You can also forward the message to new recipients.  In your inbox, open the message.  On the right side of the message click on the dropdown and select the desired choice.  Type your response and send the mail as usual. Online Interaction Platforms Today we can get in touch online with others easily. Social web sites allow us to meet others online. Various ways of interaction are given here. Blog: It allows a person to post his/ her views on a particular topic or issue in the form of an online article. Readers can post their comments on the article. Blog is an excellent way to showcase your talents. A person who writes and maintains a blog is called blogger. Some popular blog sites are Wordpress, Blogadda, Blogger, Tumblr etc. Facebook Facebook is free and the most popular social website that allows people to register for free and interact with each other. You can send the friend requests to other people to become online friends. Some importanct features of Facebook are given here. Timeline/Wall: Your own profile page is called Timeline or Wall. What ever you post, goes to your wall. Other people can also post at your wall or comment on your posts. Pages: You can create pages on various topics and invite people to visit. Events: You can create events and send invites to people. 115
