RHS STAFF HANDBOOK Expectations)​ . 2. Assist with late line duty. 3. Cover Camera Room from 12:15-12:30. Position 9: Geigle Gym 1​st​ Floor (Gym Balcony) 1. Main cafe breakfast duty. 2. Periodically check the annex hallway and the inside stairwell. 3. Periodically monitor the ticket booth and outside perimeter of the building. 4. Keep the gym balcony clear of students. 5. Monitor use of lavatories/locker rooms on the floor. 6. Circulate around the entire floor area. 7. Periodically checks lavatory to ensure the safety of students. 8. Monitor Hallways (*​ see Monitoring Hallways/Stairwells Expectations​). Position 10: 2n​ d​ Floor Rear Connector Hallway (Room 233-234) 1. Monitor Stairwell J, K, and S for students. 2. Periodically check 2n​ d​ Floor South. 3. Periodically check JROTC stairwell. 4. Be posted at Main Cafeteria Rear by the windows. 5. Circulate around the entire floor area. 6. Monitor hallways (*​ see Monitoring Hallways/Stairwells Expectations)​ Position 11: 3​rd​ Floor Rear and JROTC/Cafe during period 5 1. Monitor Stairwells G, J, K, and S for students. 2. Monitor Connector Hallway. 3. Monitor Rear Library entrances. 4. Monitor Main Cafe Lavatories during Period 5. 5. Circulate around the entire floor area. 6. Periodically check the lavatory to ensure the safety of students. 7. Respond to radio transmissions for assistance. 8. Check any areas that are off camera. 9. Monitor hallways (*​ see Monitoring Hallways/Stairwells Expectations​). Position 12: Geigle Annex 2n​ d​ Floor (Room 244-246) 1. Periodically check the cafeteria. Cafeteria should be clear of students at all times except during breakfast and lunch. 2. Monitor Inside Stairwell, Stairwell F, Stairwell G, Hallway by the Health Suite. (*​ see Monitoring Hallways/Stairwells Expectations​). 3. Monitor Cafe periods (*see Cafeteria Procedures). Position 13: 4t​ h​ Floor 1. Be posted at 3rd Floor K for student arrival in the morning. 2. Monitor Stairwell: K 3. Circulate the entire floor area. 4. Periodically check the lavatory to ensure the safety of students. 5. Monitor Hallways (*​ see Monitoring Hallways/Stairwells Expectations)​ . Position 15: 4​th​ Floor 1. Monitor Stairwell: J 2. Monitor use of lavatories on the floor. 3. Circulate the entire floor area. 4. Periodically check the lavatory to ensure the safety of students. 5. Monitor Cafeteria period as directed by Lead Officer (*see Cafeteria Procedures). 6. Monitor Hallways (*​ see Monitoring Hallways/Stairwells Expectations​). PROCEDURE FOR REPORTED INCIDENTS OF PHYSICAL ALTERCATIONS AND VERBAL DISAGREEMENTS ● Upon notification of the incident, SSO will identify response to the infraction ● The Lead SSO verbally requests a status of the incident via radio communication. The Lead SSO determines the need for: 1. Additional SSO’s 2. Administrative assistance 3. Camera assistance 4. Police department assistance ● SSO identifies the status of victim and perpetrator 1. Need for medical assistance (nurse calls the parent/guardian) 2. Transport to Assistant Principal 3. SSO writes a statement of incident and submits the report for written and electronic folders SSO PROCEDURE OF REPORTED INCIDENCES OF BULLYING (CYBER) 1. Student reports bullying incident to SSO/administration/staff or guardian (If guardian is reporting the incident, determine police involvement, case number and time and date of report). 2. SSO Position 1 review video surveillance if available and as needed. 3. Student completes an incident report. 4. Administrator/SSO interviews the victim, perpetrator, and witnesses, investigates the alleged incident. 5. SSO submits all incident reports involving bullying to room 008 within ​before the end of the work day of the incident. RESTRAINING STUDENTS 1. SSO submits the completed original restraint documentation to the administrator immediately following the restraint. 2. When a student is restrained, SSO notifies administration immediately. 101

RHS STAFF HANDBOOK 3. SSO must ensure that all restrained students are evaluated by the school nurse.​ ​**Student should be evaluated by a nurse after a restraint to document physical condition. 4. RHS School Police Officer or Lead Officer will take a picture of the student to verify the physical condition of the student. All SSO’s must complete a Reading School District RISC Restraint Entry Form. NOTE​: Administrators must submit the completed original restraint form o​ nly​ for ​students with disabilities​ to the special education department in the Reading Opportunity Center for Children (ROCC). Administrators will file all other completed restraint forms. PROCESS FOR DOCUMENTING INCIDENTS/VIDEO AT RHS SSO assigned to Position 1 (Camera Room) documents all incidents using the below process. 1. The SSO will create an electronic folder on the U drive under security. a. This electronic folder contains: scanned incident reports, video clips, and still pictures. b. Scanned incident reports, video clips, and still pictures should be saved using the date of the incident. 2. SSO Position 1 is responsible for scanning all hand written incident reports and storing the image files in the appropriate electronic folder on the U drive. 3. Once all incident forms are scanned and filed, SSOs are responsible for disseminating the paper incident reports to the appropriate administrator’s office. 4. All SSO’s submit incident reports to room 008 before they leave at the end of the work day. Reports must include: Names of victim and perpetrator, time, date, and location of the incident, time, and date of the report and a narrative of the details being reported.
