The Falling Sky Illustrated by Sonam Tobgay
Once a rabbit was sleeping under a tree. Suddenly a branch fell down on the ground and made a loud noise.
Hearing it, the rabbit woke up surprised, “Oh! The sky is falling down.”
At once, he started running like crazy and shouted, “The sky is falling. The sky is falling. Run for your life!”
Run for your life!”
Everyone heard the rabbit shouting and started running with him and shouted, “The sky is falling.”
The king of the forest lion saw the animals running. So he jumped in front of the animals and roared. Then everyone stopped running before their king.
The lion asked why they were running. Everyone said at once, “The sky is falling.” The lion looked up, but the sky was not falling. He knew something was wrong.
He asked, “Has anyone seen the sky falling.” Trembling, the rabbit came forward and told the lion what had happened to him. Hearing that, the lion asked him, “Show me the place where you were sleeping.”
The rabbit was sure that the sky was falling and was scared. The rabbit took the lion and animals to the place where he was asleep.
The lion looked around the site and saw the fallen branch.
Then he cleared the misunderstanding and told the rabbit, “My dear rabbit, you should have looked around before creating much fuss.”
The rabbit was embarrassed and asked everyone for forgiveness. From that day onwards, the rabbit learned not to jump to conclusion before checking the real truth and not blindly following anyone.
