It is a multi-row and multi-column electronic spreadsheet that is used to organize data, graphically portray data(s), and conduct various calculations. There are 1048576 rows and 16383 columns in this table. Rows and columns are combined to form cells. Every cell has a location that is defined by the column name and row number, such as A1, D2, and so on. This location is also known as a cell reference. MS Excel is a spreadsheet programme that may be used to record data, display graphs, and analyze the information entered. This is a sophisticated application with several features that help you keep track of your budget, create sales invoices, and keep track of your training. Page 1 of 60 All Rights Reserved. Getting Started with Excel You may save the information of your product or service queries, and it has a variety of other commercial applications. This version, like the previous version, features a collection of menus at the top of the window known as the Ribbon, which contains all of the Excel commands. The workbook is the name given to a document created in Excel and each Workbook is organized into a collection of rows and columns, with the Cell being the intersection of these tabular structures. Data is entered into cells, and all spreadsheet operations are performed on the cells. MS Excel has a range of tools that allow us to prepare and analyze data as well as generate charts. How to open MS Excel? Follow the steps given below to open MS Excel on your computer: Step-1: Click on Start Step-2: Then All Programs Step-3: Next step is to click on MS Office Step-4: Then finally, choose the MS-Excel option There is an alternative, you can also click the Start button, and in the search option type MS Excel. Getting Started with Excel What is a cell? A spreadsheet is a table with rows and columns. A cell is a rectangular box formed by the intersections of rows and columns. A picture of a cell is shown below: What is Cell Address? The cell address is the name that can be used to address the cell. for example, If row 5 is interested in column D, the cell address will be D5. 1.2 Features of MS Excel An Excel spreadsheet can be edited and formatted in a variety of ways. Getting Started with Excel  Home  Font size, font styles, font color, background color, alignment, formatting options and styles, cell insertion and deletion, and editing options are all included.  Table format and style, inserting images and figures, adding graphs, charts, and sparklines, header and footer settings, equation, and symbol options are all included in the Insert menu.  Page Design The page layout option includes options for themes, orientation, and page setup.  Formulas Because MS Excel can build tables with a big quantity of data, you can use this function to add formulas to your table and receive faster results.  Data This category includes features such as adding external data (from the web), filtering choices, and data tools.  Review In the review category, proofreading (like spell check) can be done for an excel sheet, and a reader can submit comments in this section. This category contains options for zooming in and out as well as pane arrangement. 1.5 Benefits of Using MS Excel MS Excel is extensively used for a variety of applications because the data is easier to save and information can be added and removed rapidly and effortlessly. The following are some of the major benefits of using MS Excel:  Easy To Store Data: MS Excel is extensively used to record and analyze data since there is no limit to the amount of data that can be saved in a spreadsheet. Filtering information in Excel is convenient and easy.  Easy To Recover Data: Finding information written on a piece of paper can take longer, but this is not the case with excel spreadsheets. It's simple to locate and retrieve data.  Application of Mathematical Formulas: With the formulae option in MS Excel, doing calculations has become easier and less time- consuming.  More Secure: In comparison to data entered in registers or pieces of paper, these spreadsheets can be password protected on a laptop or personal computer, and the risk of losing them is much lower.  Data at One Place: When the paperwork was completed, data was previously held in various files and registers. More than one worksheet can now be added to a single MS Excel file, making this more practical.  Neater and Clearer Visibility of Information: Analyzing data gets easier when it is recorded in the form of a table.
