Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 Diya in Rajasthan On an early morning at 5 am Diya and her parents set out to the airport. There she met her cousins, Kanishka and Meera. They both were much older than her. Diya was going to Udaipur for a wedding and after the wedding, they planned to go to Jaisalmer and Jodhpur to explore Rajasthan. At the wedding, she met her other cousins, Chitra, Hita and Priya. They all enjoyed it a lot. From Udaipur, they all went to Jaisalmer on a bus which they booked especially for the tour. They checked into a hotel, had dinner and slept. The next morning, they started for the desert camp in Jaisalmer. By the time they reached it was evening. There they were accommodated in tents. The tents were very big with a living room, bedroom and bathroom. The tent experience was one of a kind. They rode camels to see the sunset and after the camel ride, they went on a jeep safari. They later stopped at a dune and suddenly Diya slipped and started rolling down the sand dune. But instead of crying, she felt it was fun. She did this again and again and she started enjoying it. Afterwards, they went back to the camp. There they saw a cultural program. Then they slept. Next morning, they went to see the sunrise all covered in woollen clothes. However, it was still very cold. Later after breakfast, they left for Jodhpur. In Jodhpur, they saw a fort named Meherangarh and a palace. Then they shopped for some local items like keychains and bags. The next morning, they left Jodhpur and went to the airport and returned to Hyderabad. It was an unforgettable experience. - Aashi 6 Grade IV C

Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 Pichu and Badam Once upon a time, there were two bears called Pichu and Badam. One day Badam built a spaceship because he was planning to go to space. Pichu went into the spaceship while Badam drove it. As they reached up into space they saw the sun, moon and stars before they saw an asteroid. They went to the asteroid and suddenly it began to talk. \"Hello bears,\" said the asteroid. \"What are your names?\" \"My name is Pichu,\" said Pichu. \"My name is Badam,\" said Badam. \"Ha ha ha! What funny names,\" said the asteroid. The bears were quite upset. They thought she was making fun of them. So they decided to leave. The asteroid cried \"Wait for me!\" and started to follow them. \"Ahhhhhhhh!\" shouted the bears as the asteroid hit the spaceship. It fell on the earth and it broke. \"Oh, no!\" said the bears. \"Our spaceship is broken,\" said Pichu. \"Now how can we explore space?\" said Badam. Pichu called the rescue people to fix the spaceship. The rescue people came with their tools and said \"Let's get building!\" After they finished repairing, the bears decided to apologize so they went to space again. When they reached space they apologized to the asteroid, \"Sorry for leaving you!\" \"It's okay, I am sorry too. I was not trying to make fun of you\". The bears and the asteroid found an alien. The alien was on the asteroid. \"Look, bears, this is my friend Alien,\" said the asteroid. \"We want to play with him,\" said the bears. Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 Swami the Foolish Pandit Once there was a pandit named Swami, Swami was foolish and goofy. He was called pandit because his father was a pandit, he learnt everything from his father but did not complete his Gurukul Diksha. One day he was passing through a jungle and was going to another village for work. He saw another pandit meditating under the Bilva tree, Swami thought ‘what is this pandit doing in this dense forest? Is he mad? Animals will attack him, I will wake him up that no wild animals can attack him. Swami woke up the pandit and said ‘namaskar pandit ji. This not the place for meditation there are so many wild animals around here, swami said to the other pandit. The Pandit said I need a silence place to do the meditation, swami asked what if some animal attacks you? The pandit was wise and calm and told him I can make animals calm and let them go away. Swami thought Pandit is thinking I am a fool, and in foolishness he said to the pandit ‘even I know how to make animals calm’ suddenly a cobra came and was hanging on the tree. Swami got scared and started saying shoo-shoo go away, to cobra. Cobra started getting angry and was following swami, swami climbed a tree and Cobra also followed him, finally the other pandit eye contacted the snake and read a mantra and the snake went away. The other pandit told you were foolishly blind by your actions, and wanted to impress someone else, never imitate others and first impress yourself, swami realized what he did and said sorry. Swami told you are great and you can teach me to the right path,the Pandit agreed and swami became the disciple of the Pandit. - Advika 10 Grade V A

Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 The Power of Friendship Once there lived four friends in a village. Their names were Hana, Alex, Ami and Hano. They were very good friends. One night when they were looking at the stars in the sky. Ami screamed and Hana asked “what happened!”. Ami pointed out at a star which was shining. It looked like it was coming towards them. Suddenly, a Witch appeared and said, “Do not be afraid I am a fairy god. I am here to take you all to a place where you would be happy”. So, Hano and Alex were ready to go with the Witch but Ami and Hana said, “No”. As they thought it was an evil trap. However, as they were very close friends they couldn’t deny the request of their friends so finally, they went with them. The Witch took them to a wild place and made them slaves. The Witch sent Alex and Hano to cut the woods and she made Ami and Hana servants. One day when they were cutting the woods they found a treasure chest and when they came back, they showed it to Hana and Ami. All the friends came together and planned to show the power of friendship to the Witch. They all made a plan and gave the chest to the Witch as a gift. In return the Witch asked them to make a wish which she can grant them. Now, the four friends asked the Witch to allow them to go out for sometime. So the Witch granted them the wish and the friends went out and collected the woods to make fire and brought the fire back and threw into the Witch’s house. When the fire caught up the whole house, the Witch burnt and dies in the fire. Hana, Alex, Ami and Hano were so happy and a real fairy god appeared to them and took them home back. Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 Honesty Once upon a time, there lived a king named Virat. The king did not have a son. He was getting old and started to worry about who would take care of his kingdom after him. To find the next king, he called his people to the palace and announced, “ For becoming the next king, I will give everyone a pot planted with flower seeds. After a week you should bring this pot back to me. Whoever's pot is filled with flowers will become the next king.” Everyone took their pot home. After a week, the king called everyone to the palace again. There were flowers in everyone’s pot except for one boy. The boy did not want to stand in front of the king because he had no flower. The king saw everyone’s pot filled with flowers, but he was not happy with them. Later, he saw the boy’s pot with no flowers. He called the boy to his throne. The boy was very scared. The king said, “ This boy will be the next king.” Everyone was shocked. Later the king explained to them why the boy was made the king. He said, “ I gave all of you fake flower seeds, but you changed the seeds and got flowers in the pot. This boy worked hard for the flower but did not change the seeds. It was the boy’s honesty which did not let him do so. He decided it was right to be honest and not be a king.” This quality of his makes him perfect to be a king. - Dhruthi Grade V A 14

Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 Celebrations This year we celebrated 3 days of Sankranthi festival in a quiet manner. We didn't go anywhere out. I helped my mother in cleaning the house for Bhogi. She prepared 'pulagam', which is made of rice, moong dal and with a dash of turmeric powder. On Sankranthi day my sister and I went around our apartment blocks and admired the beautifully done rangolis. Evening we visited a few houses for 'Bommala koluvu'. Dolls are arranged stepwise and they are considered as gods and lamp is lighted. Ladies and kids are invited to take 'thambulam' (beetle leaves, areca nuts, vermilion and turmeric). In most parts of South India Dasara is the time when Bommala Koluvu is arranged. But some do it during Sankranthi day. On the third day of Kanuma we ate gaarelu or vada and gave food to our domestic help too. I spent the holidays happily. - Samyuktha N.V. Grade V A 16

Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 The Exam Preparation There was a girl named Srishti and a boy named Faisal. They were good in their studies. They had their exams in a week’s time. Just to encourage the kids, their father told both of them, whoever scores full marks in the exam, I will gift you a bicycle. They both started studying for their exams. Faisal was smart, as he got to know which chapters will come in the exam, he learnt only them but Srishti learnt all the chapters. They both gave their exams and Faisal scored high marks. He got the bicycle as his gift. To celebrate this, they went to a restaurant for dinner. At the restaurant, there was a quiz competition where they asked the kids to participate. Both Faisal and Srishti were thrilled to participate. They participated & Srishti won the prize. Faisal could not answer all the questions as he was not fully prepared. But Srishti could attempt all the questions due to her preparation. Moral - We should not study only for exams but learn for our Knowledge. - Diya Grade V A 18

Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 Importance of Time Once upon a time there was a girl named Pinky and a boy named Gattu. They both were twins and hence in the same class. Gattu always used to delay his work that he will finish afterwards. But his sister Pinky never extended her work to tomorrow and finished her work on time. The class teacher announced about the test that they are scheduled in next 2 weeks. After reaching home Pinky started to study for the test. But Gattu went out to play. And after 10 days. Gattu’s mother asked why don’t you study the exam is going to come, Gattu told her mother okay it’s Time for my TV now and I will study later. It was the last day and Pinky finished her studies quickly as she was already and Gattu’s mother called her and asked to come and study but he told I will do it later. After 30 minutes it started to rain heavily and the electricity went and the lights went off. Gattu had to get back home as it started raining and he could not play outside. He got worried as there was no electricity and started thinking how will I study now? But his sister told don’t worry I have learnt everything and I will make you learn. With the help of his sister, he could learn. The next day both gave the test and scored good marks. Now Gattu understood that we should value our time. Moral - We should not waste time because every minute is \"Precious\". - Diya Grade V A 20

Prerana Waldorf School Magazine 2022-2023 A Day in the Life of a Proletarian Child Getting up in the morning was painful as usual, with 5 hours of sleep and almost no food. It was 4 am, and looking out of the doorway meant dark, gloomy skies and the silhouette of the looming factories through the smoke. I must get to the factory quickly, or the master will whip me. Navigating through the smoke hurt my nose and mouth, and so did the sight of people coughing and collapsing. Reaching the factory meant toiling till sunset while the sun hadn’t even risen. After reaching the factory, the master ordered me to load the furnaces with coal. It was the same dull work every day, tend the furnaces, move that cotton there, help him fix this machine. The only relief was a short 30-minute break during noon when we were allowed to eat and use the washroom. After that, it was working again, till sunset. Food being dry, old bread and a glass of water and poorly cooked porridge, a luxury for chosen few. Many of my friends died by the age of 7 to 8. At age 10. I was a sickly, pale, skinny boy who was as thin as a stick and so light that the next gust of wind might carry me away. Both my parents had died from overwork, which meant I lived with seven other people in a small room. The only time I got to play with my friends was on Sunday. She had served her country of India for 35 years as a woman IPS officer. After that, she took voluntary retirement from the post of Indian Police Service Officer in the year 2007. Kiran Bedi was born on 9th June 1949 in the state of Punjab, India. While she was in school, she took an active part in National Cadet Corps (NCC). After that in the year 1968, she completed her graduated from the government college for women, Amritsar. Later she obtained a law degree in the year 1988 and along with this Kiran Bedi also did an MA in Political Science. Kiran Bedi was also a great tennis player before becoming the first female IPS officer of India. Kiran Bedoi's police training started in the year 1972 in Mussoorie.
