Mudge in recent meetings with the Namibian President, Dr Hage Geingob, and on many other occasions, singled out the support from his wife, one of the great remaining ladies of Namibia, Tannie Stienie Mudge, to whom he is married for nearly sixty years, and the decision to use the Swapo constitution as working document for Namibia’s democratic success. During a very private meeting at State House on invitation of Dr Geingob, the President told him “Old man, go well; rest assured, we will not leave the path of peace that we chose with independence.” A visibly moved Mudge told President Geingob, “You are my President and I trust you completely.” After the Independence of Namibia in 1990 he served one full term in the National Assembly of Namibia. After his term in political office he retired from active politics to focus on business and his farming activities.
