He earned national and No documents will be returned to applicants. international merit over a life of service to his party, leaders and elders over a career with the highest and the lowest moments extending over 50 years as member of Swapo. Swapo is not an accident of politics. Successive good leadership by the Founding Father, Dr Sam Nujoma, and his successor, Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba, moulded Swapo in a genesis of 27 years into a carefully crafted and well-managed national movement that President Geingob not only understood, but aligned to form an inclusive and responsive government for all. It is also time for Namibians and leaders to stop pretending that the Congress is about a new or better Swapo which it is not. It is about replacing the most popular president. If it were not the aim of the discontent, the whole of the Geingob-nominations would have been challenged, but none one of the opponents are attacking the nomination for Vice-president, Ms. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, the nominated Secretary-general, Ms. Sophia Shaningua or the nominated Deputy Secretary-general, Marco Hausiku. There is nothing wrong with ambition. Healthy ambition is mostly a good thing and can inspire. But ambition, driven by revenge is hate. The 776 delegates are now at the gates of service to the many -- and by far the vast majority of Namibians – who are ready for the long journey of recovery, development and creating wealth by the narrowing of the income gap. In true Namibian unity, Namibians expect that a sixth Swapo congress and its delegates deliver more unity in a nation where nobody should be left out and where the weak and the marginalised are taken along on a journey of Namibian nationhood that will serve as a guiding light for those nations and communities. That is the Namibia that generations suffered for and inspired the nation to freedom and sovereignty for which it is recognized the world over.
