Members of their communities in the far north- western corner of Namibia who roam free and as a matter of pride fight every challenge that nature can throw at them, will weep when they see what happened to their folk and kin in Windhoek. Namvet must come clean. Jabulani Ndeunyema has a Trust that is open to scrutiny at the Master of the High Court. It is a matter of public record that it got start-up funding of N$5 000 from the President of the Republican Party, Henk Mudge and presumably some other generous donations thereafter. It is time that Jabulani opens his account so that his misled followers, whose innocence is abused, can eat. In the same vein, the leader of Swanu in the National Assembly, Usutuaije Maamberuua, abuses democracy and parliamentarian privilege to threaten German settlers with invasion. Why don’t he march forth with his party of extended family and sympathisers? Maamberua is in Parliament through an error of democracy allowing the votes of parties to go to the smaller parties who did not get enough votes to obtain a seat. Namibians could have expected more humility from a near- collapsed political party, but he sounds like the ruling party. He did not even succeed in obtaining a seat under his own steam, but has enough steam to act like a warlord. What is he waiting for? It seems that Maamberua tries to steal the limelight from Adv Rukoro and Clinton Swartbooi who are engaging international instruments to receive justice they believe they deserve. He should rather support them and not hijack their cause. Both these two unrepresentative leaders, Maamberua and Ndeunyema should learn from the example of the Unam-students, who with their meagre means and in solidarity, stood by their accused friend who fought back. They can even learn from the tragic drowning of two children who in the care of their grandmothers lost their lives while tending goats and fetching water. Their loss is tragic, because of the great culture of duty and care in the education of rural communities. If it does not move them to tears it should remind them that Namibia has a great youth and an even greater future. Demands and threats are not going to stand in the way of a nation who prevailed, because they reconciled and cherished peace. Reconciled former enemies of Namibian and foreign trenches are formidable defenders of their democracy and the leaders, because knowing war they cherish peace, especially for the generations to come.
