Daniel,58, described by many as a lady’s man, has been mar-ried four times, with two of his wives now deceased. Documentsavailed to Informanté indicate that Daniel got married to DeneseRossouw, 42, in 2009, in Windhoek. He then proceeded to marryMargareth Engelbrecht in 2015 at Okahandja, while still marriedto Rossouw. The couple were living together when Engelbrechtdiscovered Rossouw’s marriage certificate. A source close to thecouple told Informanté that Daniel was this year arrested the dayafter Valentine’s Day and made his first appearance on 17 February. When contacted for comment, a heart-broken Engelbrecht con-firmed the case and strongly condemned her husband’s behaviour. She further warned other women to be vigilant and not to fall formen such as her husband. Daniel also confirmed the case againsthim. He, however, challenges the law on bigamy, stating that itshould be legalised and reviewed. “Other countries have legalised bigamy. Take South Africa forexample. They have implemented it. Why can’t we legalise it? Whyis adultery tolerated in society but bigamy is not?,” Daniel ques-tioned. He further claimed that his marriage to Rossouw is invalidbecause she was allegedly already legally married in South Africawhen he married her. “The Marriage Act of 1961 still standing inNamibia has been amended numerous times over the decades andshould be repealed entirely or for now considered obsolete. It is ashame that old imperial style laws should still govern and rule ourlives in a free and independent Namibia,” Daniel stated. Contrary to what Daniel said, according to South African law, bigamy in a civil marriage is illegal. It is only allowed in customarymarriages if certain requirements are met. Indongo became the first Namibian to hold three world titles at the same time. His achievement is an inspiration for other youngNamibians to develop their skills to reach greater heights and raise the Namibian flag. GT: What is your diet and nutrition like? JI: I fuel my diet with Herbal Life. Other than that, I just have a normal diet plan as I am not at a stage where I buy what I want, as a healthy life- style is costly in Namibia. I exercise a lot and run for the Rio Tinto tracks just to keep fit. GT: Do you think nutrition is a ne- glected area in Namibian boxing? JI: Most athletes in Namibia want to be fit and live a healthy lifestyle but they cannot afford it as sport is not a profession that is taken seriously in this country. There is no money in our profession so not everyone can afford to eat healthy. GT: Does sex really weaken your energy prior to a fight? JI: Yes, I always prefer to not ejacu- late for at least two months before my fight since it weakens your muscles and energy. Anyhow, I am a born- again Christian so I have abstained from sexual activities. GT: What was your toughest fight? JI: My toughest fight was with Kaizer Mabuza in 2012, although I triumphed it wasn’t an easy fight. GT: What makes a good fighter? JI: To be a good fighter, you have to be yourself and you don’t need to boast. People have to see your skills and see your potential.
