Dear students /staff members Every year we celebrate the Foundation Day of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan on 15th December with great enthusiasm and fervour. Our organization has a glorious past, a very dynamic and vibrant present and a promising future. The past teaches us great lessons for an even more illustrious future. The Present is an indispensable link between past and future. The quality of efforts and degree of commitment during this important stage will decide where we will stand in future. During this glorious journey of 58 years of service to society, KVS has always set new benchmarks in the field of school education and has performed well in its role as a pace setting organization. From a very humble beginning of 20 regimental schools, today we have more than 1245 schools dedicated to service of the nation. On this important day, we salute all those members of this great Parivar who have contributed to its rich legacy. ALPINE SKI HOUSE 3
The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is a system of premier central government schools in India that are instituted under the aegis of the Ministry of Education (MHRD), Government of India. As of October 2020, it has a total of 1243 schools in India, and three abroad. It is one of the world’s largest chains of schools. The motto of Kendriya Vidyalayas is Tattvaṁ pūṣaṇa apāvr̥ṇu, lit. ‘O Sun , please uncover that’; in other words, “where the face of truth is covered by the golden lid, O Sun (God), please uncover so that truth and dharma are visible.” ALPINE SKI HOUSE 4

• The system came into being in 1963 under the name Central Schools. Later, the name was changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya. It is a non profit organisation. Its schools are all affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Its objective is to educate children of the Indian Defence Services personnel who are often posted to remote locations. With the army starting its own Army Public Schools, the service was extended but not restricted to all central government employees. ALPINE SKI HOUSE 6
• A uniform curriculum is followed by the schools all over India. By providing a common syllabus and system of education, the Kendriya Vidyalayas are intended to ensure that the children of government employees do not face education disadvantages when their parents are transferred from one location to another. The schools have been operational for more than 50 years ALPINE SKI HOUSE 7
KEDNRIYA VIDYALAYA HEAD OFFICE DELHI ESTD. 1993 • The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan oversees the functioning of the schools with its headquarters in New Delhi. The administration of this body is based on levels. The chairman of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is always the Minister in Charge of Human Resource Development of the Government of India; the deputy chairman is Minister of State of MHRD. The real working power lies with the Commissioner of KVS; there are additional commissioners to accompany the Commissioner in the administration of KVS in different fields. The head of a KVS region is Deputy Commissioner accompanied by an Assistant Commissioner. There are individual principals of every KV administrating the schools along with a Vice- Principal, Head Master/ Mistress. ALPINE SKI HOUSE 8
VIDYALAYA MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE • The Vidyalaya also has several committees for the holistic development of the students and well maintenance of the school compound and system. The most important one is the VMC (Vidyalaya Management Committee), which is the head of all committees. ALPINE SKI HOUSE 9
ABOUT KVS • As of October 2021, there were 1248 schools named Kendriya Vidyalayas. It is one of the largest school chains in world with 1248 schools in India and three operated abroad. A total of 1,43,73,634 students (as of 6 December 2021) and 48,314 employees were on the rolls (as of 6 December 2021). These were divided among 25 regions, each headed by a deputy commissioner. The three Kendriya Vidyalayas outside India is in Kathmandu, Moscow, and Tehran. They are intended for children of Indian embassy staff and other expatriate employees of the government of India. INTERNATIONAL KV The three Kendriya Vidyalayas outside India are in Kathmandu, Moscow, and Tehran, situated inside Embassies in these countries and their expenditures are borne by the Ministry of External Affairs. Ms. Menaxi Jain DEPUTY COMMISSIONER MESSAGE Deputy Commissioner KVS has taken a pioneer initiative in providing unlimited opportunities to KVS RO, Dehradun students to excel and prove their mettle in various fields . It is an institution with the underlying aims of education and education psychology . in a secular environment educational and co-curricular activities are a common Feature. Competitions are organized at different levels to promote national integration. As the teacher too has a pivotal role to play in the educational field .We have a team highly qualified Principals, teachers selected on all India merit basis who are fully devoted to their duties and responsibilities towards society and nation at large. AAZAADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in it’s evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable Prime Minister Modi’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity. The official journey of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” commences on 12th March, 2021 which starts a 75 week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence and will end post a year on 15th August, 2023.
