Hello there! My name is Trey Stinson, and I want to welcome you to my grid.I am originally from Texas but now living in colorful Colorado. My love for design began with a simple challenge coin and shirt for 13th WW Fighter Squadron based in Misawa, Japan, and it was the ear to ear grins I got that did it for me. Although it would take a few more years, graphic design became the focus for me once my time in the Air Force was complete. The journey took 27 years, travels through countless countries, and long hours of studies, but the dream finally became a reality. Now a days, If I’m not designing then I’m watching Star Wars, or I am making something Star wars related for fun. I love NHL hockey, a good book, and playing my music louder than I probably should. Above all things, I enjoy time spent with my two kids. ‘When it comes to design, I enjoy branding and merchandise most, but why limit myself when there are so many different things to design for? I love the freedom of taking on my own projects, but it is also hard to beat that feeling when you accomplish something grand working together in a team. What ever your needs are, I can’t wait to learn and design what your brand needs. 3

BULLYING MUST END Triptych Series: Designing for Change Designing for change, 2022, Adobe Illustrator. My target audience for this piece are those that are called upon to be guardians. This is anyone that is in a position to serve as protector of young children, but not limited to parents, instructors, extended family, and elder siblings. This project is a triptych series, so it is a three-piece series of artwork used to create a message, sequence, or show different elements of the same subject. 4

Process Work Sketches Sketch work was to help formulate the best way to show three things. First is to Identify the problem, second is show who is affected by the problem, and the final point is to work as a call to action. 7

Process Work Color 8 Color is used to help create a visual starting parting on the most important subject in each poster, and a heavy contrast of light and dark help create the heavy mood. Typography Taberna Sans regular was used because of its natural bold all capitalized style. The all capital title to each poster is a message intended to be taken as a shout.

Process Work Early Iterations I experimented with text presenting factual statistics, but the creation of a text heavy poster took away from the image work and hurt the message of each poster. Grayscale was experimented with, but ultimately, it didn’t help create a heavy mood, and again hurt the message. 9

12 Page Booklet Aaron McBride Visual Effects Art Director 12 page booklet, 2019, Adobe InDesign. This project was to design a 12 page booklet on the topic of an artist/designer that I admire. Focus was on, but was not limited to, grid set up and page layout. 12

Process Work Sketches Page sketches include a brief biography of a chosen designer, early work with supported images, most well-known projects, career milestones, and a front and back cover. Page orientation and dimensions are 8.5” x 11” folded and saddle stitched. This would be a viewable twelve half sheets measuring 5.5” x 8.5” per page. 14

Process Work Color Booklet pages are darker in color so the yellow choice of hue is to create contrast between pages and text. ITC Serif Gothic Proxima Nova Typography 16 pt Regular Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj 16 pt Regular I have chosen the ITC Serif Gothic font Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss because much of McBride’s work is within Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj the the Science Fiction and Fantasy genre, 1234567890 Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss and this serif font has often been used as !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz a typeface in that area of work. 1234567890 !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ 15

Process Work Grid Set Up and Layout InDesign document using Master Pages and Style Sheets to set up page numbers, page size, columns, gutter measurements, margins, and bleed. sketches were used as guides in order to translate that concept into reality. 16

2022 Winter Olympics Olympic Host Location and Branding Campaign Branding and communication program for the 2022 Winter Olympic games, 2020, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. This project was about creating visual communication through pictures, symbols, icons, and pictographs while exploring the environments in which these pictures may be used to help people communicate. 18

Process Work Color The colors of Colorado’s state flag symbolize their geographical features. Gold symbolizes the states abundant sunshine, white represents Colorado’s snow capped Rocky Mountains, the blue symbolizes clear blue skies, and red represents the color of the state’s soil. Alex Brush Proxima Nova Typography 16 pt Regular Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj 16 pt Regular Alex Brush typeface was chosen for it’s Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss resemblance to the peaks and rolling Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj ridge line of the Rocky Mountains. The 1234567890 Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss sans Proxima Nova was used for text body !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz because of its ease of viewing. 1234567890 !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ 20

Mockups Pictographs Event icons take the Twin Peaks image, the C, and sun dot from the Colorado flag and these elements have been designed into the arms, neck, bending of the legs and arms, and then the sun dot serves as the heads, and hands. Event Tickets Event tickets can be used not only to gain entrance to locations and events, but they can also serve as a souvenir as something to take with them and remember their time in Colorado. 21

BLACKSOCKS Branding Redesign Campaign Re-brand, 2021, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Choosing a client that does not have an established brand presence, this project was a full re-branding campaign that included, but was not limited to research, ideation, and design presentations. My target audience for this program is based off the audience the company wants to target, and the target group are those with disposable income. 24



Original Design Redesign Other than the word socks being part of the name, there is no In order to bring the company into modern times, this way to identify this brand being associated with clothing, and the redesign focuses on creating a logo that will help show casual viewer would have no understanding of the image work that Blacksocks as a clothing company, and not unlike other represents the “O” in socks. brands such as Lacoste’s alligator, and Ralph Lauren’s polo player, will hopefully help create that same belief of quality with the Blacksocks brand. 26

Process Work Color Yellow is uplifting, illuminating, and associated with confidence. It is a stimulating color and can be used to help create strong emotions. This idea was carried over Xx Yy Zz Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj Kk Ll as a way to keep similar elements that 1234567890 Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww previous consumers are familiar with, !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ Xx Yy Zz but it also is used to help catch and hold attention based off color use. The 1234567890 brand is about socks, so elements are introduced in a way to create something !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ more than just socks. 27

Reinventing a Classic Book Cover Art Redesign Reinventing a Classic, 2019, Adobe Photoshop. The idea behind this project was to redesign the cover of a classic novel using photo-montage so that it would appeal to a younger audience. 30

Process Work Color A gold hue is used to create contrast between type and the darker shades being used in the artwork. This color is also used because it symbolizes a a major plot device in the book, and that is gold. Alex Brush Typography 16 pt Regular Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Ii Jj Alex Brush typeface was used for its Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Ss classical appearance. The setting of the Tt Uu Vv Ww Xx Yy Zz book takes place in the 1800’s, so a script 1234567890 style font best associate the art with the !@#$%^&*()-+?/“ time period. 32

Process Work Sketches With these sketches I wanted to flush out a design that had the five W’s. The who are the duelists and the silhouette, the what is a conflict, the when is the 1800’s, the where location I wanted to go with was the Chateou d’lf, and the why would take form in the image of the woman. Original Artwork I have taken elements like script font, and artwork that looks like a painting to keep with the tradition of the Beacon and Bantam Classics, and those elements have been given a sharper clarity and more up to date appearance with modern features like beveling and embossing. This gives the cover work more of a modern appearance that will lead to a more appealing look to younger generations. 33

Impossible Travel Destination Designing an Impractical Vacation Location Impossible Travel Campaign, 2019, Adobe Photoshop. The goal of this project was to design a tourism campaign that sells the idea of traveling to a place that may be beyond our capacity to visit. The end result of the project was to be delivered via a web banner, a poster, and a billboard. 36

Process Work Color Silver and gold. These two colors were chosen because it best represents the light of space, and when working with the chosen typeface, the image is one of an object twinkling like a star. Andromeda Mirror Spacestation Typography 16 pt Medium 16 pt Medium Andromeda Mirror and Spacestation typeface were chosen because of their Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Aa Bb Cc Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh science fiction look. Being introduced to Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp just the font style should immediately help Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww Qq Rr Ss Tt Uu Vv Ww viewers quickly identify the topic as being Xx Yy Zz Xx Yy Zz in, or from outer space. 1234567890 1234567890 38

Digital Designs Web Banner, Poster, and Billboard Traveling to space is probably a dream everyone has at some point in their life, so I if I could make an impossible travel destination possible, then space is where I would want to go. These elements take you to a spaced filled adventure where racing among the asteroids is possible. 39
