SKCC could not facilitate all planned programs since its establishment due to pandemic, named COVID 19. Couples’ Night, the first event of SKCC, took place on May 25, 2019 with support from KCWFS. First Knanaya Night took place on November 16, 2019. SKCC honored College graduates and professionals during this event. First Charity event took place on December 05, 2019 in collaboration with St. John Paul II Knanaya Catholic Mission, Sacramento. The organization served was Union Gospel Mission, Sacramento. SKCC in collaboration with the Mission conducted Christmas Carol. Beginning in 2019, SKCC joined the Mission in honoring high school graduates in the month of July. SKCC took initiative to distribute Mask in April 2020 as a safe guard related to the pandemic. Thereafter, pandemic situation got worse at the early part of 2020, and for the same reason SKCC had to cancel many programs in 2020 such as Couples’’ Night, Summer Picnic, Onam Gathering, Knanaya Night, and Christmas Carol. Though 2020 was a rough year, SKCC in collaboration with the Mission was able to organize charity event and served the most needed population in December 2020, at the peak of pandemic situation. Union Gospel Mission was chosen as the organization to serve the deserved people The pandemic situation continued in the early part of 2021 without much improvement. Hence few programs such as Couples’ Night, either had to be postponed or cancelled. As situation got better, SKCC was able to facilitate programs such as Garden Competition, Natural Photography Competition, Summer Picnic, and joined with the Mission in honoring high school graduates. The following programs are planned for the rest of the year 2020: Knanaya Night on November 27, 2021, honoring College graduates and professionals during Knanaya Night, Charity Event in December, and Christmas Carol with the Mission. SKCC-Secretary’s Report: November 2018-November 2021
Page |3 KCWFS and KCYLS committee members decided to vacate their positions on December 31, 2021; and decided to choose new office bearers for the year 2022, ending the term on December 31, 2022. Election to choose new office bearers of SKCC, KCWFS, and KCYLS for the years 2023-2025 will take place towards the end of 2022. SKCC actively got involved at national level with the parent organization, Knanaya Catholic Congress of Nort America (KCCNA). SKCC was represented by its National Council members (President, Secretary, and National Council Representative) at each of the KCCNA National Council (NC) Meetings held on the following dates and places: June 15, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV; November 02, 2019 in Houston, TX; March 27, 2021 in Tampa, FL; and August 21, 2021, Chicago, IL. SKCC, KCWFS, and KCYLS all contributed in great extend in publishing Knanaya Times. In fact, Secretary was at Editorial Borad of Knanaya Times. In 2020, many of the SKCC office bearers/members were chosen to the KCCNA Los Angeles family convention organizing committees which, unfortunately had to be cancelled due to pandemic in 2020. A good number of our members donated money to the needed through fund raising events organized by KCCNA, KCWFNA, and KCYLNA. SKCC is approved to have a second National Council Representative by KCCNA Executive Committee which was supposed to be announced formally at the KCCNA NC meeting held on August 21, 2021. Unfortunately, this did not happen due to an administrative unintentional error by the KCCNA Secretary. This would be announced formally during the next KCCNA NC meeting. It is the desire and plan of SKCC to organize more programs in 2022 in collaboration with KCYLS, KCWFS, and the Mission, and I am sure that would help the upcoming generations. SKCC is also planning to help the most deserved people with isonomy/impartiality. SKCC continue to grow as a united community and hoping to extend its services as it grows. It is to acknowledge, members had and likely will continue to have differences of opinion which is a natural process that would help the growth of SKCC like any other organization. As Secretary of SKCC, I am thankful to Spiritual Director Fr. Abrham Kalarickal, all the office bearers of SKCC, KCWFS, KCYLS, and all the members of SKCC for the continued support and prayers; and requesting the same for the years to come. Respectfully submitted on the 27th day of November, 2021 at Sacramento, California. Cyril John (Thadathil) Secretary, SKCC SKCC-Secretary’s Report: November 2018-November 2021
