Hello and welcome to my English Class!

Class Profile Student: Thai Primary School ( Prathom 6) Class Size: 30 students Student's Proficiency level: Elementary Length of Class : 50 minutes Topic : Asking & Giving Directions Language Focus: Grammar/ Speaking

Course Competency: Introducing location propositions & direction phrases, using sentences, and practicing making short conversation related to topic of asking and giving directions Objectives of this Class: *develop grammar & speaking skill *learn how to ask for directions and give locations of a place using location prepositions *practice conversation with their partner

Materials Background Worksheets Students have learned important vocabulary for places PowerPoint (such as the bank, the police station, the café, restaurant etc.). In addition, students learned how to ask directions in previous lesson.

Procedure: Pre-Stage Greeting & Revising ( 5 minutes) T introduces the topic and go over the objectives of lesson T gets a few Ss to share what they learned yesterday Ss are asked to review some vocabulary & go over how to ask for directions Excuse me. Where is_____________________? How can I go to/get to_________? T asks Ss to speak up & give examples of using sentences T evaluates Ss’ answers and make summary of what Ss have learned and recheck if student understand Introducing ( 15 minutes) T introduces Ss location prepositions & direction phrases using picture on PowerPoint such as Next to, Across from, Between, turn left/ right etc. T gives example sentence for giving directions and provide visual of sentence structure and visual of the sentence

Procedure: Pre-Stage Aims/ Purposes (Cont) Get Ss ready and active for the class Build rapport between student and teacher Revise and activate their background knowledge of asking directions Introduce topic/enhance Ss engagement Provide students with necessary input and integrate some phrases and grammar related to topics into lesson. Examples give students a model so they know how to use it Allow students to practice using location prepositions so that they understand how to use them and feel comfortable using it Anticipated problems & Solutions Some Ss may not pronounce words correctly or be able to guess the correct meaning of the words/ T ask any Ss can help to correct the words. If not T will help to correct &Direct Translation can be replaced.

Procedure: While-Stage Conversation ( 25 minutes) -T asks Ss to pair up and give all the Ss the worksheet. -T asks Ss in each pair to identify as Partner 1 (Person asking for directions) and Partner 2 (Person giving directions). - Ss are asked to write & practice asking and giving directions short conversation with their partner Partner 1 can choose where they will be starting off on the map and where they want to go. Then they have to tell Partner 2 where they will be starting off and ask for directions to the place they want to go to. Partner 2 has to give directions to the place that Partner 1 wants to go to based on the map. -T monitors Ss the whole class and have a look at every pairs -T asks Ss to switch roles and do the same thing. -T then ask Ss to perform conversation for the class.

Procedure: While-Stage Aims/ Purposes (Cont) Allow students to practice asking for directions and giving directions Allow students to construct meaningful language use Develop & engage students speaking skill & promote interactions Anticipated problems & Solutions Some students might struggle with making short conversation/ Teacher monitors students and pay special attention to them Students might not remember all conversation, allow them to see scripts but not all the times

Procedure: Post-Stage Closing ( 5 minutes) -T review objectives -T praises all the Ss for participating activity and working hard. -T reviews and summarizes what Ss have learned. -T checks Ss understanding and ask them to turn in worksheets -T asks if Ss have chance to practice outside the class. Aims/ Purposes -Check students' comprehension & encourage communication
