It was such a pleasure seeing so many of you at our Small Time and Big Time AChNairOwToEmaFnRCOueMllar celebrations. These cultural events are important because they offer an opportunity to gather, to honor the traditions of our ancestors, and to strengthen our ties to the past and each other. Native American Day is Friday, Sept. 27. Our Cultural Division will participate in the flag procession, dancing and more at the 52nd Annual Native American Day at the California State Capitol. Everyone is welcome to attend. The event is from approximately 9am – 2pm. There have been some questions about the Tribal Member discount at Express Fuel. As a reminder, to get the fuel discount, the requirements are: • You must be a Tribal Member • You must be at least 16 years old • You must be the person purchasing the gasoline • You must show your Tribal ID to the cashier inside the store Discounts are: • $0.10 per gallon on regular, supreme and mix fuel • $0.05 per gallon on diesel In the store, the Tribal Member benefit is that you don’t pay sales tax, excluding tobacco and alcohol. • You must be a Tribal Member • You must show your Tribal ID Fall is such a beautiful time of year and kicks off the holiday season. Join the Education Department for Pumpkin Patch fun on Friday, Oct. 18, from 5:30-7:30pm near the gym. Everyone can wear their costumes to the Trunk or Treat on Halloween, Thursday, Oct. 31, at 5:30pm. To accommodate the holiday schedule, our Tribal Council won’t meet on Thursday, Nov. 28, as it is Thanksgiving Day. Anthony Cervantes, a police officer level 2, has been serving in the army reserves for almost a year. Teddy says, “We miss Anthony, who is a great asset to our department. In July 2016, The Autry Museum of the American West announced the acquisition of a significant amount of artwork from Tribal Member Harry Fonseca’s (1946-2006) estate. Ashali, Liwanu Tayaba and family visited The Autry Museum of the American West and saw Artist Harry Fonseca’s artwork.
