WWeeeekk1174 Chapter 4: For the last chapter, I ended off the book by showing how the Tonton café will always be there for the patreons. However, I believe that I could have done more to express this if I had planned out the content and the copywriting beforehand. At the end of the book, I did relate it back to the café’s tagline, however, I felt that it could have been portrayed in a better way. Regardless, I believe that I managed to wrap everything up nicely at the end of the coffee table book.
WWeeeekk1174 Cover page: As for the cover page, I managed to do the mockup based on the idea I had, however, I believe that it could have been done better. While I managed to photoshop the pieces together, I felt that he end product could have turned out a lot nicer and that I could have put in more effort a making it look more realistic. I could have also taken in the advice from my friends from he gallery walk where they mention how I could have added glitches so that the screen does not look too weird. I also failed to do up the mockup of the book as I have previously planned as I did not have the time to do so. By the time I finished everything, it was already time for me to go to school to present my slides and my work. From there I decided to place in all of the research and the mockups I did for the coffee table book in the slides and presented it the next week. (which was on Monday)
WWeeeekk1174 :Mockups: These were the mockups that I managed to do up, however, I believe that I could have done better at portraying how the coffee table book would look like by actually adding in the sleeve of the book. As for now, I only managed to show the cover as well as one page. Luckily, I managed to find a mockup beforehand and designed the whole coffeetable book based on the size which is 2476px by 2476px.
WWeeeekk1174 This week has been a very difficult week for me to not only complete this CA but to plan everything out. Despite planning for the coffeetable book weeks before the submission, I was still very lost at what to do as I had not thought of the copywriting, the layout and the content, thus, I struggled a lot with the design of the coffee table book. Worst of all, I only managed to start on the design of the book a day before as I was busy preparing for another submission of my other module. I was not that proud of the end result of my coffeetable book as I believe that I could have done more to portray what I wanted to in the first place. I also believe that the overall art direction did not fit the brand characters that I had for my café which was creator, outlaw and sage. I did not like how the design on the inside of the coffee table book did not have any relevance to the outside cover of the coffee table book. I also did not have time to do up the mockup of the coffee table book, this, the idea that I had initially was ruined and I only managed to submit what I had. I am disappointed in myself and the work that I have produced in the end, however, now looking back at it, I did the best that I could with the minimal amount of time that I had. I also reflected on the work that I have done and was thankful that I had started the semester conceptualizing my coffeetable book so that I was clear on what I wanted. I was also thankful that I managed to produce a good brand guideline which I actually referenced to throughout the whole process of me designing my coffee table book. I reused certain elements that I kept which saved me a lot of time designing the elements of the coffee table book.
Week 18
WWeeeekk1184 This week is when we had to present our coffee table book. This was the slides that I had presented: I was thankful that I could reuse the slides that I have previously did for the brand guidelines pitch presentation and used that template to present the presentation.
WWeeeekk1184 I then presented the brand DNA however, I did not manage to explain the brand characters properly as I felt that it did not really resonate to the design that did. Thus, I thought that it was unnecessary and left it out. I just explained the brand DNA similar to the one I did for my previous pitch presentation last semester:

WWeeeekk1184 I then presented the sketches I did for the coffee table book, however, I did not show all of the sketches I did which was a pity as I believed that the presentation was an opportunity for me to show how much my ideas have changed and how I came up with the layout and content of the ideas. This was because I was rushing for time and did not have enough time to add in additional pictures of my sketches:
WWeeeekk1184 Next I presented my moodboards which showcase the pictures, colours and fonts that I used. However, I believe that I should have changed up the moodboard as it did not really reflect the new content that I have added in my coffee table book:
WWeeeekk1184 Next, I presented the big idea as well as the rationale of my coffee table book where I explained the concept of my book and why I decided to name it ‘The Breakthrough’. This is to help my classmates and my lecturer understand the concept of my coffee table book better:
WWeeeekk1184 After presenting my pitch, I then presented my coffee table book and here were the comments that my lecturer gave me: • Liked the nostalgic feel of the book. • The bar code could have been warped to fit in with the shape of the tv. After that, I submitted the work. I was thankful that the presentation went smoothly despite me not sleeping and preparing for the presentation beforehand. This might be because I am confident at the content that I was presenting and made sure that each chapter that I have designed in the book is covered during the presentation. There were a lot more things that I could have presented if I had practiced and prepared the presentation beforehand, however, since the work was produced the night before, I did not have the opportunity to do so. Thus, I believe that I could have done a better job if I had more time to prepare everything.
WReefleckt1io4n Through my BXS journey this semester, I have learned a lot of meaningful things such as proper planning and time management. While I am not usually the person who will start on their work the night before, this semester gave me no choice to do so as I was already handling other group projects which I had huge responsibilities for (some include dpds as well as bcs). I then failed to realise that there is also a lot of things to plan out for BXS which made me stress out at the very last minute. While doing the coffee table book the night before, I was also struggling to get the overall layout and content right as like I have mentioned, I did not have the tome to properly plan out all of the copywriting and content that I wanted. There was a lot more things that I could have done to make this project better but I was burnt out and I was rushing for time. However, I was greatful that I managed to push through these difficult times and managed to produce a work that I know I have put in effort in. If given more time, I would have executed the book very differently and played around with more elements. I was also thankful for my lecturer who was very understanding of our situation and the fact that he knew that most of us had to rush through BXS due to other responsibilities from group works. Being the leader for both BCS and DPDS, I prioritized a lot of my time at helping my groupmates that I forgot to prioritise my own solo work (BXS), which I regret the most. With that, this semester was definitely a very stressful one but I am glad that everything worked out in the end. Although I knew that I could have done better than this, I believe that I have tried my best to produce the work in that short amount of time. I hope that in the future, I am able to gather some strength and persevere through the semester like I did no matter how tiring or burnt out I am.
