Page 2 Sep 18, 2020 MEESSAGE FROM DEPUTY COMMISSIONER (R&F) Greetings from Greater Chennai Corporation! Unlock 4.0 and limping back of life to normalcy in almost all spheres of society, coincides with the decreasing trend of positive cases in GCC limits. Decreasing cases and fatalities offer us a chance to ponder over the many calibrated and coordinated measures put in place by GCC over the past 5 months. The resilience of Chennai vis-à-vis COVID-19 stems from 3 strong roots of Widespread Testing, Universal Fever Clinics and a Vibrant Home Quarantine Management System. Home Quarantine and Isolation Management System (HQIMS) envisaged by Mr. G. Prakash IAS., Commissioner, Greater Chennai Corporation, is a programme which is unique in its conception, universal in its coverage and vibrant in its implementation. The face of HQIMS are FOCUS (Friend of Covid Citizen Under Surveillance) volunteers who are the foot soldiers armed with a technology driven Mobile Application. While HQIMS provides the detailed list of quarantined persons including the positive home isolated persons on a daily basis to all the zones, it is further segregated division/street wise by a dedicated Revenue team. 3,300 strong FOCUS Volunteers across the city assemble at 7.00 A.M in the morning to reach out to the houses under various categories of quarantine guided by Tax Collectors/Licence Inspectors. FOCUS Volunteers reach out to every house under quarantine atleast twice daily. Apart from ensuring that the quarantined persons stick to quarantine norms, FOCUS Volunteers does the yeoman service of catering to the various needs of Quarantined houses. From essential medicines to food to groceries, FOCUS Volunteers delivered almost everything that was asked for by the Quarantine houses with the singular goal of ensuring Quarantine norms by all concerned.
