The modules make up a set of 12 long distance training courses that are designed to help wholesale staff with official qualifications from a recognised industry organisation. Both Tom and Jack have passed their two introductory modules with top marks, earning distinctions on both assessments. The lads will now choose specific modules to progress through the course with, specifying which areas they would like to improve their product knowledge on. Further modules include training on Heating & Ventilation, Cable & Cable Management, Renewables and Lighting Systems & Control. Whatin’sthheappening LEW SHEFFIELD SPONSORS CHARITY MATCH AT WORLDS OLDEST FOOTBALL GROUND A Great Game for an Even Greater Cause! The oldest ground in world football was the venue for a charity football match on June the 9th hosted by one of the oldest football teams in the world, Hallam FC. Hallam FC lined up against a team fielded by The Children’s Hospital Charity at the famous Sandygate Road to raise money for the life-saving equipment, research, and treatment The Children’s Hospital Charity funds. Our Sheffield branch supported the event with matchday sponsorship. Well done to everyone involved with the organisation and running of the day. The final score was a draw after the charity mascot came on as a super-sub to score a last- minute equalising penalty for The Children’s Hospital Charity! The club, who have played at their home ground since 1860, play in Division One of the Northern Counties East Football League. SUMMER ICE HOCKEY ACTION SUPPORTED BY LEW DONCASTER Our Doncaster branch will sponsor this year’s ‘Summer Classic’ charity ice-hockey match, a grass roots fundraising event for the West Park Cancer Hospital. The match is an extension of the Christmas Classic which has already been a success in Sheffield, raising money for The Children’s Hospital Charity. The inaugural Summer Classic has already raised over £16,000 for the West Park Cancer charity. 10

LEW LINCOLN & GRIMSBY SUPPORT HELPS RAISE £1700 WITH CHARITY FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT Lincoln based electrical contractors, Brook & Mayo, ran their annual charity football tournament on Saturday the 15th of June. In total the event raised £1700 for Macmillan Cancer with a total of nine Lincoln based companies fielding a team to compete. Alongside a team from our Lincoln and Grimsby branches were teams from Brook & Mayo, Lindum Group, and APSS, as well as the likes of Freedom Fire & Security Maintenance who took home the trophy, narrowly beating LEW in the final. Well done to everyone involved with organising and running the event. To celebrate their 50th Anniversary, Brook & Mayo have committed to raising £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Care. Having since donated £500 in February to kick start their fundraiser, the charity tournament has carried them just short of their halfway target. Good luck to everyone at Brook & Mayo involved with their fundraising efforts! CONGRATS TO DEAN! Sheffield branch manager, Dean Wilsher, competed in the London Marathon in April to raise money for the Electrical Industries Charity and their Caz Dickinson Appeal. Dean was part of a team running for the Electrical Industries Charity trying to raise as much money as they can to support the care of Caz Dickinson who fell critically ill in 2009 after suffering sudden brain damage. Having worked in the electrical industry for 15 years, the Electrical Industries Charity have launched an appeal to raise £250,000 to support both Caz and her family with care and living expenses. Dean’s London Marathon raised over £2000 for this appeal, finishing the race in under four and a half hours. Thank you to everyone who has supported Dean with his fundraiser, having first announced this in October last year on our website Dean has received excellent support and encouragement. LEW BARNSLEY READY TO FACE THE CHALLENGE As this edition of LEW’S NEWS goes to print our Barnsley branch will getting ready for climbing the National 3 Peaks on Saturday the 28th of June.
