Ideology Magazine

Collectivism Collectivism is an ideology that places needs and goals of the collective or group before individuals. It is based on belief in interdependence of the human society. It is a political theory advocating collective control over production and distribution.

Communism Communism tries to create a classless society, where everyone is seen as equal. The citizens in this society however have no voice in government. Communism seeks to create a classless society where major productions are owned and controlled by the public,communism still exists today in China, Cuba Laos and Vietnam. Marxism Marxism was founded in the 1800’s by socialist Karl Marx and his closest collaborator, socialist Friedrich Engels. Marxism is a socialist ideology that evolved from the interpretations of what Karl Marx thought about the working class overthrowing the capitalist class.

Socialism Democratic socialism is a political ideology that advocates a peaceful, evolutionary Utopian socialism is a socialist ideology transition of society from capitalism to based on cooperative communities with socialism through democracy improved living and working conditions for industrial workers, this was attempted by socialists Robert Owen and Charles Fourier.

Liberalism Liberalism is an ideology that is based on the importance of the individual liberty and the values of individualism. Modern Liberalism Modern liberalism is an ideology that was developed over time to address the concerns with inequality and injustices that were created by a capitalist society. Modern liberalism still exists in society today in the United States.

Mixed Economy A mixed economy is an economic system in which free-market principles are combined with some government intervention. Government intervention usually regulates the industries, moderates boom and bust of the free market business cycle and it also offers social welfare. Mixed economies also protect private property and allows a level of economic freedom.

Individualism An ideology that values the rights and freedoms of the individual, often above the security and harmony of the whole group.

Conservatism An ideology that is based on traditions being followed every year and very minimal change is made, if any change was to be made it would be so minimal that there was almost no change and it would be very gradual.

Classical Liberalism This is political ideology that is based on the belief that rights and freedoms of an individual should be the foundation of society. The idea of this was largely embraced in Europe in the 1800’s. Classical liberalism advocates civil liberties under the rule of law, it allows for protection of individual liberty and economic freedoms and has very little government involvement.

Capitalism Capitalism is an economic system that is based on free markets and minimal government involvement is favoured. With capitalism, people are able to own and control property in accord to their own interests. Capitalism also has supply and demand. Supply and demand sets the prices of products to best serve interests of society.

Fascism Fascism is an authoritarian system (dictatorship) which includes extreme militarian nationalism, a belief in the rule of the elites and a totalitarian society. In this type of society, individualist interests are subordinated to the good of the nation-state. Fasciam rejects liberal democracy and communism.
