Golf The golfing experience at Big Canyon will be as near to normal as possible during clubhouse construction. The golf shop is located in the temporary clubhouse, the tournament schedule is nearly the same, golf instruction is available, the completely rebuilt range will be open and a new putting green will be located at the 1st tee. The course will continue its regular schedule. The Golf Shop: Merchandise available for immediate purchase include basic items such as balls, gloves, hats, caps, shirts, shorts, some slacks, ladies’ shirts, shorts and visors. There are of course golf shoes, putters, wedges, drivers and golf bags. The quantity of these items is limited, but the staff is happy to special order any items; apparel, soft and hard goods, that are not stocked in the golf shop. Club Storage: The Club continues to offer club cleaning and bag storage services. There is enough space for every member to store one set of clubs. Unfortunately, there is not enough room to store extra bags or second sets. Club Repair: During the clubhouse construction, onsite club repair is limited to grips. All other repair work is sent out to an independent club repair shop. The golf staff will insure that any repair work being sent off property will be done as promptly as possible. Tournament Activity: The men’s, ladies’, Niners’ and Junior tournament committees have planned for a normal tournament schedule. Because of the smaller clubhouse space, some events may have a slightly modified program for the post tournament activities. The committees all hope that everyone will continue to enjoy a great course with wonderful competition.16

Golf Instruction: The golf professional staff is ready to provide greatinstruction to everyone anxious to improve their game. The staff offersjunior clinics, short game clinics, on-course instruction, group lessons andindividual lessons. Video equipment is available every day for memberswho would like to get the most out of a private lesson.Practice Facilities: Completely rebuilt, the practice area has been greatlyimproved. There is an additional 20,000 square feet of tee area. Thelanding area has been totally renovated with new target greens, a practicefairway bunker that will allow for longer bunker shots, and the length ofthe range has been increased by nearly 35 yards. The short game area isnow first class. The size of the short game area has been greatly increasedallowing more members to practice at the same time without getting ineach other’s way.The First Tee: Play will start on what has been the 10th tee. A newpractice putting green has been built at the tee to provide a veryconvenient area to practice your putting while waiting your turn to start onthe 1st tee. This will allow everyone to start play away from theconstruction area. It will also make it easy to stop at the turn, as thetemporary clubhouse is located very near to the 9th green (18th green).Groups will then move to the 10th tee (1st tee) and quickly away from theconstruction area. The golf staff is sure that all the members and their guests will enjoy thecourse and their golfing experience during the construction of the newclubhouse. If anyone has any questions about golf activities pleasecontact Bob Lovejoy or one of the golf staff with your question. 17
