11.7. WORKSHOP ON DISASTER MANAGEMENTTwo Days Workshop on “Disaster Management” sponsored by Savitribai Phule PuneUniversity, Pune was organized on 7th and 8th of February 2018. The purpose of this workshopwas aimed to reduce, or avoid, the potential losses from hazards, assure prompt and appropriateassistance to victims of disaster, and achieve rapid and effective recovery. Total 140 studentsfrom different colleges registered and participated in the program.The program began with inaugural function. Shri. Kanan Gopinathan, Collector, Dadra & NagarHaveli graced the program as Chief Guest. Esteemed Dignitaries on the dais “Shri. KananGopinathan, Shri. Ajit Deshpande, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Acharya, Dr. PraveenaMulley and Dr. Rajiv Singh” were invited to light the inaugural lamp. The esteemed guest anddignitaries were welcomed with sapling and memento as a token of remembrance and gratitude.The dignitaries and participants were welcomed by Dr. Sanjeev Acharya, Principal throughwelcome address. Later Shri. Ajit Deshpande, Managing Trustee, SSR Memorial Trust, wasinvited to deliver presidential remarks. Further, Shri. Kanan Gopinathan was invited to share hisviews with the participants on the theme of the program. He provided an insight to the disastermanagement team of DNH and how tactfully and smartly are calamities handled which maynatural or due to human actions. On Day one of the workshop, Shri. Jignesh Jadav, Disaster Management Professional, Disastermanagement Authority, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and his team delivered lecture on Introductionto Disasters and Disaster management. He explained in detail disaster management cycle,precautions to be observed before, during and after the disasters. He explained the how disastercan be mitigated, how can be prepared for it, how hazards can be minimized and how theaffected humane kind be recovered to normal after facing the disaster.Later Shri. Jitendra Maharaj Sir, 108 Services, Department of Medical and Health Service,Dadra Nagar Haveli, gave a demonstration on “First Aid Management”. He demonstrated abouthandling of casualties in emergency condition. Further informed on what all precautions to beobserved while handling small and major injuries.On day two, Shri C. M. Rohit, Fire Station officer, Dadra Nagar Haveli, and his team performedMock Drill and simulations on Fire Safety. Purpose of this mock drill was to prepare and trainthe participants to effectively respond to workplace fires. The mock drill was made a grandsuccess with the cooperation of entire administration of DNH who were actively involved insimulating the disaster as much as a reality. The entire drill was aimed at giving employees andstudents an opportunity to practice emergency procedures in a simulated but safe environment.Simulation on fire safety was carried out under the guidance of Shri. C. M .Rohit, Fire StationOfficer, DNH FES.Later in the afternoon, Dr. Parvatraj Tamde, Psychiatrist, Shri. Vinoba Bhave Civil Hospital,DNH, was invited to deliver lecture on “Post Disaster Psychosocial Care”. He very wellexplained how to react and respond with the people hit and affected by the disaster. Next sessionwas delivered by Shri. Sandeep Kumar Sir, Deputy Controller of Explosives, PESO, Vadodara,Gujarat, on “MSIS Regulations”. He gave an Introduction to PESO (Petroleum and explosivesafety organisation). Later he explained regulations governing the petroleum and explosiveproducts. Last session was delivered by Shri. Kaushik Mahyavanshi, Director, Shahi SafetyServices, Daman, on “Fire Hazards and its safety precautions in Industry”. He explained aboutsafety measures that can be observed at the laboratory and industry. He also summarised theguide of NFPA system, provided knowledge about the codes used on the fire extinguishers andon the chemicals used in pharma industry.The program was concluded with Valedictory ceremony. 11.8. WORKSHOP ON STUDENT’S PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENTOne day workshop on “Students Personality development” sponsored by Savitribai Phule PuneUniversity on 21st of February 2018. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Vishal Modi, Asso.Professor and HOD, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. The objective of the programwas to explain the participants about the role of personality in development of career and itseffect on organization effectiveness.The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Pankaj Sharma, PRO, SSR Memorial Trust, invited aschief Guest and Resource person. The first session was addressed by Dr. Pankaj Sharma wherehe discussed different aspects of interpersonal relations based on the ideas envisaged inTransactional Analysis and their relative significance in the context of functional effectivenessof organizations. Different types of transactions with their merits and demerits were discussed.Further, Dr. Pankaj Sharma delivered lecture on “Soft Skills Development” where students wereexplained the importance and relevance of soft skills in various professional endeavors. Theparticipants were provided insight on role of soft skills in day to day professional activities.Participants were further explained about leadership and leadership qualities.The last session was conducted by Dr. Sanjeev Acharya on “Team Building”. He veryeffectively explained the skills needed to work in a team. Also explained that working in teamcan lead to development of communication skills, boost morale of the employee/student, helpsin strategic and productive planning. 11.9. EXPERT LECTURE ON REGULATORY ENVIRONMENT (CHHATRAPATI SHIVAJI MAHARAJ JAYANTI CELEBRATION)Mr. Jigar Patel, Director, Mesayu Consultant, New Delhi, delivered a lecture on “RegulatoryEnvironment: Indian Perspective” on occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, 19th ofFebruary 2018 to Final Year B. Pharm Students. He discussed various basic aspects ofregulatory bodies like USFDA, MHRA, TGA, cGMP audits. He also shared his views on howthe students can prosper in regulatory department. 11.10. ICT TOOLSTwo days Seminar cum Workshop on “Applications of ICT tools and teaching with Animationin Pharma Education” Sponsored by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune was organized on26th and 27th of February 2018, for PG and Ph.D. scholars and academicians of Pharma. Theprogram was coordinated by Mr. Vipul Prajapati, Asso. Prof and HOD, Department ofPharmaceutics. The objective of the workshop was to familiarize the participants with the use ofvarious software and tools to enable teaching and learning with simulation. A level of lucid andlucrative teaching. Total 60 students and faculty participated as delegates.Eminent speakers from industries and academics were invited to share their knowledge. Theprogram began with inaugural function, where custom of lighting of the inaugural lamp bydignitaries “Dr. S. P. Bathe, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Dr. Sanjeev Acharya, Dr. Praveena Mulley andDr. Rajiv Singh” was followed. The esteemed guest and dignitaries were welcomed with saplingand memento as a token of remembrance and gratitude. The dignitaries and participants werewelcomed by Dr. Sanjeev Acharya, Principal and Convener of the program, through welcomeaddress. Dr. Pankaj Sharma, PRO was invited to address the gatherings. The program wasgraced by Dr. S. P. Bathe, Deputy Registrar, Planning and development Section, SavitribaiPhule Pune University. He provided an insight to the program and on unique efforts being takenup by the university. The inaugural function ended with Vote of thanks given by Mr. VipulPrajapati.The technical session began with the first speaker of the day Mr. Ravi Krishna Pandey, HOD,Computer Engineering Department, Laxmi Institute of Engineering, delivered a talk on “TheVisual Learning: Basic Techs & Tricks with consideration to Pharmacy”. Through his lecturehe explained the importance of audio-visuals in learning process. The next session was followedby the presentation of Dr. Dhaivat Parikh, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad,on “Animation: A tool to empower PPT and its application for innovative teaching inPharmaceutics”. He wonderfully explained applications of powerpoint in preparing animationswith ease and simplicity. After a lunch break the third session was given by Dr. Hardik Bhatt,Asso. Prof. and HOD, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, on “Importance ofICT tools and software for efficient teaching-learning in Pharmaceutical Chemistry’. Heexplained applications of different softwares used in study of pharmaceutical chemistry. The lastsession on day one was delivered by Dr. Lalji Baldaniya, Asso. Prof. and HOD, AnandPharmacy College, Anand, on “Animation in Pharmaceutics: An innovative teaching learningmethod”. explained varied tools which can be used in powerpoint for preparing presentation with ease. Healso explained tricks to smartly crack the questions during presentation.On Day two, the session commenced with talk of Dr. Anwar Shaikh, Prof. and HOD, MCEsAllana College of Pharmacy, Pune, on “Animations: An innovative tool in teaching learningprocess”. His session was quite informative and covered different topics such editing images,making videos, audio visuals, etc. The last session was covered by Dr. Roshan Palewar,Founder, DocRoSH Health Pvt. Ltd, Mumbai, on “Role of IoT and ICT in Pharma and future ofHealthcare”. He explained the importance of AI and technology in the field of Healthcare.The program was concluded with Valedictory ceremony. Dr. Ajay Pillai, Principal Scientist,NCCS (Unit of DBT), SPPU, Pune, was invited as a Guest of Honor for the Valedictoryfunction. Dr. Ajay Pillai gave a valedictory address and envisioned the participants with hismotivating words. 11.11. EXPERT LECTURE ON HOW TO IMPROVE EMPLOYABILITY (BABA SAHEB AMBEDKAR JAYANTI)Shri. Tushar Patel, Head of TPC, Institute of Pharmacy, Nirma University, Ahmedabad,provided an insight on “How to improve employability” to the students of Final year B. Pharmand M. Pharm on occasion of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti, 10th of April 2018.He shared hisexpert opinions regarding various opportunities in pharma sector. He also discussed thefuturistic scenario of the industry and how to get prepared for the same. 12. EXTENSION ACTIVITIES 12.1. HYGIENE DRIVEAn extension activity was undertaken by Students of Third Year B. Pharm under the guidance ofMr. Parixit Prajapati (Coordinator of Students Extension Activity) and Mrs. Niyatee Thakor(Member) to spread the awareness in the society. Students performed mime on “Hygiene drive”and “Say No to Addiction” on 16th of February 2018 at Government Higher Secondary school,Galonda, to spread awareness on hygiene and addiction in people of UT of Dadra and NagarHaveli. 65 SSR COLLEGE OF PHARMACY| Annual Progress Report 2017-18

12.2. COUNSELING WEBINAR ON MHT CET 2018With objective of delivering information regarding MHT CET 2018 and various opportunities inEngineering, Pharmacy and Agricultural Education, a webinar titled “MHT-CET 2018 andopportunities in Engineering, Pharmacy and Agricultural Education”, was organized by StateCET Cell, Maharashtra State, Mumbai in association with All India Council for TechnicalEducation (AICTE) on 21st of April 2018 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. SSR College of Pharmacywas selected as one of the centre for this webinar. Total 20 candidates registered andparticipated in the webinar. 12.3. MHT CET 2018A one day Seminar was organized on “MHT CET 2018 & Career Guidance with Scope ofPharmacy”on 3rd of May 2018 for students of 12th science stream. The program wascoordinated by Mr. Parixit Prajapati, Asst. Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.In all 35 Students with parents and guardians participated from different regions of Dadra &Nagar Haveli, Gujarat and Maharashtra in the program.The day began with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Pankaj Sharma. Public RelationOfficer, SSR Memorial Trust gave a welcome address and welcomed the participants. The firstseminar was delivered on the topic “How to crack MHT CET 2018” by Mr. Parixit Prajapati. exam in a very systematic and simplistic manner. The second lecture was delivered by Dr.Sanjeev Acharya, Principal, on the topic “Scope of Pharmacy”. He comprehended theimportance of pharmacy and explained endless opportunities of pharmacy profession with theparticipants. The last seminar was delivered by Dr. Chirag Patel, Asst. Prof., Department ofPharmacology, on “Introduction to SSR College of Pharmacy”. Through his presentation hetook the participants on the virtual tour of the college. Companies invited for campus placementTraining and Placement Cell (TPC) of institute had invited ‘Medisol Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd.,Valsad, Gujarat’, on 8th of May 2018 for campus drive 2018. 3 students of B.Pharm. Pharmaceutics) was selected as a Junior Scientist atFormulations & Development with annual package of Rs. 2.10 lac. 13.2.3. INDUSTRIAL VISIT, 2017-18SSR College of Pharmacy had organised an industrial visit for Students of Third Year B. Pharmat “SUN PHARMA” Dadra on 2nd September 2017 and at “IPCA LABORATORY” Athal on21st August, 2017. The industrial visit was coordinated and headed by Ms. Madhavi Ghumare(Coordinator of industrial visit). The technical team members of the industry explained anddemonstrated to students on different aspects related to layout of solid dosage formmanufacturing area for various purposes viz. Blending, granulation, size separation,compression, safety requirements during formulation development of tablets, variousresponsibilities of QC and QA department, raw material storage and inspections. 70 SSR COLLEGE OF PHARMACY| Annual Progress Report 2017-18

14. SPORTS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIESAnnual Sports Meet:A sport is the requisite for promoting healthy society as it rejuvenate body, sharpen skills,enlivens spirits and produces agility and strength in body and mind. For the same, every yearSSR Memorial Trust organizes “Annual Sports Meet” in the college campus which last for threedays. Annual Sports Meet 2018 was held from 22nd to 24th of January 2018. The sports eventbegins with the inaugural and torch lighting ceremony. Students and faculty participates indifferent sports event such as cricket, volleyball, basketball, tug of war, table tennis, shotput,discuss throw, 100 meters running and chess. At the end of the day 3, the winners are honoredwith certificate and trophy. This year total 90 students of B. Cultural activities:The institute strongly believes that along with academic curriculum the sports and other co-curricular activities in student's life helps him to develop overall personality. The instituteorganizes fresher party every year welcome the first year students and to develop a healthyrelationship with their seniors. So also the final year students are given a warm farewell party.The students volunteer arrange such events with enthusiasm and also give their best culturalperformances. Apart from these events the institute provides platform for young minds tocelebrate days. 15. GRADUATION DAYOn 11th of March 2018, convocation ceremony for students graduated in the year 2017 was heldat SSR Memorial Campus. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Ashok Chavan,Controller of Examination, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune as Chief Guest, Shri. MohanS. Delkar, Chairman, SSR Memorial Trust as Guest of Honor and Dr. Pramod Bhadakwade,Deputy Registrar, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. The Ceremony began with atraditional system of lamp lighting by esteemed dignitaries “Dr. Ashok Chavan, Shri. Mohan S.Delkar, Dr. Pramod Bhadakwade, Shri. Ajit Deshpande, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Dr. SanjeevAcharya, Dr. Rajiv Singh and Dr. Praveena Mulley”. Later the ceremony was proceeded withreciting the University song to imbibe a feeling of oneness with the SPPU family. Shri. MohanS. Delkar gave a Presidential remarks, Dr. Ashok Chavan and Dr. Pramod Bhadakwade wereinvited to share their valuable words with the graduates. 16. UNIQUE PRACTICES (VGP/PBP) 16.1. Orientation program for First Year B. PharmThis year college has taken up a unique initiative of organizing an orientation program for thenew students entering in bachelors and master’s program. The program is designed to introducestudents to the college life and to navigate the campus. Generally the sessions are madeinteractive by introducing them to the academic program through lectures and presentation.They are given knowledge about different innovative co-curricular and entertaining extra-curricular activities that takes place in the institute. They are given information about instituteresources and support services that are being offered and their utilization. Through this programthey get an opportunity to familiarize themselves with their fellow classmates. The programworks as an open forum to get their questions answered. 16.2. Concept of course coordinator and class coordinatorThe institute has adopted a concept of course coordinator, who plays an important role inmaintaining the quality and integrity of a course. The role of course coordinator encompassespreparing lesson plan, course file, course website, designing and developing educationalresources, assessment, course evaluation and student’s learning outcomes. The coursecoordinator plays a key role in maintaining the quality and consistency of instruction of thecourse assigned. They are responsible for providing the course overview. A separate ClassCoordinators is appointed for every class who is responsible for coordinating with the entireclass. They are responsible to inform students about classes, lectures and any prospect related tothe students. A student’s representative can approach them with an intent to resolve an issuerelated to day to day activities taking place at college. 16.3. Course websiteCourse website are the medium through which the students are kept updated about the courses.Course websites are prepared by the course coordinator of respective course. Course websiteincludes learning objectives of the course, syllabus, academic calendar, academic lesson plan,attendance record, course time table, examination result, lectures notes, handouts and previousyear question paper. It includes a dedicated section to highlight the student of the month basedon different criteria such as attendance, class involvement, participation in co-curricular andextracurricular activities, etc. The criteria are solely decided by the course coordinator of aparticular course. 16.4. Mentoring policy (NT)The institute has initiated a unique practice of Mentoring to provide technical and professionalguidance to students which mould the students to achieve their career paths. Each class ofPharmacy programme has been divided in a 3 batches who are assigned with each facultymember to provide close supervision on the progress of student. Several interacting sessionswere conducted to build a healthy mentor mentee relationship and to understand the strengthsand weaknesses of each students. Fast learners were motivatedto register for MOOC courses and to give their best entrance exams like GPAT. On the basis ofstatistical evaluation of the data recorded during mentoring sessions such sessions haveremarkably improved the overall academic results of institute. 16.5. Online leave system for studentsThis year college have put into practice an online leave system both for students and faculty.Students can apply for leave through online leave system, which reduces the paperwork for thecoordinator. The objective of developing the system is to keep a track record of the leaves takenby a student. This system is a transparent system and it helps in keeping traceability of the leaverecords of the students. The system is helpful to find out whether the student's abide to theinstitute leave policy. With the online system, the leave data of student is easily accessible andmanageable. 16.6. Enrichment courses and MOOC’s (VAS)A massive open online course (MOOC) is a free Web-based distance learning program that isdesigned for the participation of large numbers of dispersed students.
