FEATURE et me introduce you to this intellectual young man, Bernardo Montolla. Not only is he smart with L intellectual value, but also has a fantastic mind of wit and kindness. Bernardo is a Web-Master and deals with technology daily. He speaks 3 languages, English, Spanish, and HTML code, wait! I asked him.... HTML is a language? He smiled and told me, “Yes, it’s a Hypertext Markup Language, a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, colour, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages.” Wow, I replied. When I looked up HTML, it came up word for word the dictionary meaning he just recited to me; this is very impressive I must say. B ernardo deals with Coding: which means changes made to text in the backend of websites and anything that a website has will be created and modified by a coder! I thought to myself, I was in the twilight zone for a minute with what he was explaining to me, however, once I understood his passion for technology and his ambition to work with computers it all made sense. Bernardo’s fantastic mind has mastered the computer systems and puts parameters with characters using programs to create links that are far beyond what we can understand if you’re not into computers or technology. B ernardo gave me this example and said, “If I want to change text to red colour I’d have to tell the CPU in HTML (remember this is his 3rd language) that allows me to talk to websites and looks something like this: <font color=”red”>.” I was over my head for sure at this point! His knowledge of the computer came from his mentors and seeing them do what he loves still today. Not bad for a young man who started off as an office assistant and learned most of what he knows by self-teachings, having high tech role models such as: Elon Musk and Nicola Tesla and keeping an eye on the speed in which technology changes daily. Once the doors opened for him, he became a Web-Master working with The Department of Behaviour Health for one of the largest County in North America. H ow does he balance his career and have fun, I asked? Bernardo tells me he enjoys his family life. He comes from a family of 12 children and being a twin with a sister. I asked Bernardo, “If you can be King of the World for one day, what do you see yourself doing for a career?” He expressed, “I see myself continuing in technology while learning Astronomy and becoming an Astronaut with enough courage to not fear technology to help me figure out how to make energy free!” I replied to him, “This is indeed a fantastic mind for sure!” ▣ ISSUE28 CVH1STCLASS MAGAZINE 21

She has written an autobiography memoir about growing up with a narcissist mother, marrying a man from Baghdad Iraq, living with him during Desert Storm, adopting a child from Romania, living in a primitive institution, rape of a child and finding A Mother’s Love by Bettyrose Woody is her biography. The book brings readers on a psychological journey as we explore the seeds of maternal Narcissist Personality Disorder ( NPD ) together. Nowadays, NPD is constantly in the news. It’s the hottest topic on Huffington Post and Psychology Today. People want to know not only what NPD is, but also what causes it and how it acts in real life. In ‘A Mother’s Love’ Bettyrose backtracks three generations to explore her mother’s psychological roots. Her bond to her hard working, but poverty stricken, Native American mother. The effect of having a liquor-sodden father. Her time in a harsh orphanage where the seeds of NPD were sown. Then she bring maternal NPD into focus with the shocking detail of unspeakable abuse. Refusing to conform to the norm of ‘what’s trending’ Commatteo designs are inspired by her life’s journey. Each collection comes with a story that stirs the imagination, invit- ing one to take that voyage into the unknown and back out with her. She sees fashion as a form of identifying or a stylised form of outer expression of oneself, believing everyone should have the ability to express their true selves through what they wear and how they wear it. TECHNOL OGY Virtually Amazing I’m a lover of technology for many reasons, one of which is to make our lives better or to make us happy. So, in 2017 I had an idea to use my 360° camera and take it to historic WW2 locations in the UK and Europe to make a 360°movie that will allow anyone with a computer, smartphone or tablet to view the scenes as if they were actually there. SSAFA SPECIAL Join celebrities and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity keeping the Nation’s history alive lest we forget This year commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the most sig- nificant moments in British history – the end of World War One. To mark the centenary, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity and its celebrity ambassadors have come together to call on the public to help keep the nation’s history alive by sharing their family stories and photos from The Great War. Celebrities including Antony Cotton, Helen McCrory, Joanna Lumley, Dame Kelly Holmes, Fleur East and Dan Snow have come together to share their stories and photographs in support of the SSAFA campaign. Coronation Street Actor & SSAFA Ambassador, Antony Cotton, says: “SSAFA not only honours and respects those who are serving today, it also celebrates those who fought in the past; whether that be in Afghanistan, The Falklands or in the trenches. “This photograph has been in a photo album at my mum’s house for years and we have never known the identity of this man. We believe he is my maternal Great Grandfather but as my grandparents died young, no one can verify this. “He has become known as ‘The Unknown Solider’ within my family and each year, I visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in London and think of him. “It is incredibly important that families continue to pass down stories and photographs of family members who sacrificed their lives for our country. Our brave soldiers from the First World War through to more recent conflicts must not be forgotten. We will remember them.” 36 CVH1STCLASS MAGAZINE ISSUE28
SSAFA SPECIAL Join celebrities and SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity keeping the Nation’s history alive English Actress and SSAFA supporter, Helen McCrory, OBE, says: “My maternal Great Grandfather, Albert Lionel Bradbeer, was buried alive in the trenches. He came home suffering from shell-shock or what would now be recognised as PTSD. He was unable to return to the work he loved and died five years later. He was one of seven brothers Edwin, James, Charles, Robert, Ernest and Frederick Bradbeer all of whom were professional golfers and fought in The Great War.” The campaign is in response to recent research commissioned by SSAFA, the UK’s oldest, national Armed Forces charity which found that Millennials aged 18 to 36 have very little knowledge of World War One and the devastating events that surrounded it, compared to pre- vious generations. As Millennials are the first generation who may not have known a family member who lived or fought during the Great War, it is perhaps not surprising they have a limited knowledge of the war, compared to their older relatives. PA USE FOR THOUGHT Unmade Beds and Unmade Lives By Stanley Goodrich After several decades of life, this writer has been thinking about the various individuals he has met and known over the years. After much soul searching, he has concluded that there are really only two classifications of person in the world -- those who make their beds in the morning and those who do not. Of course, there are those individuals fortunate enough to have the means to be able to employ servants to do all their chores for them. They are in a class by themselves! This writer, however, is conjecturing and generalizing about the ‘common’ man – classmates, friends, co-workers, and so on. After much introspection and observation he believes that these two types of person in this world are so very different. The bed makers are organized, Is this YOU? ambitious, caring, intelligent and supportive. On the other hand, those who fail to make their beds each morning are for the most part unorganized and lack ambition, imagination and dependability. This writer wonders if the readers of the theory described above have ever had the same thoughts, even to the point of wondering if ‘unmade beds’ might be exemplary of ‘unmade lives’.
