Home TV Shows Originals Recently Added SERIES Mrs. Neetha Shetty It is my pleasure and privilege to be writing a message for the ninth edition of the Sixth Form Yearbook \"The Season Finale\". This vibrant Yearbook illustrates the continued success enjoyed by our school. The thought, dedication, and creative minds behind the Yearbook make it evident that though situation dictated that we mask our faces, it did not mask our resolve towards quality schooling. We have successfully championed the school's vision of creating Caring, Competent, and Confident graduates. This year has been exceptional, one like never before. The word that defined the past year and a half is \"Pandemic\"'. The pandemic has changed our lives in many ways, but I am particularly in awe of how you students have embraced the challenges. The way you switched gears, adapted and adjusted to the 'new normal' to get through your studies is incredible. When life threw a curve at you, you learned to swerve and move forward. Every new experience, every problem you overcame, has curated the perfect crash course for the future. We will not let today's global pandemic stop any of you from becoming who you want to be tomorrow. Every year when I write this message, it is a bittersweet moment. Happy that we have made it through this challenging year but also a sense of heavy-heartedness as I say goodbye to our graduating students. Dear Class of 2021…. Congratulations! You've made it, despite the setbacks. And I know you will do the same in your future endeavours. As the Yearbook is ever so rightly named, its 'The Finale', and the curtains will soon be drawn, but the spotlight will always be on you as you grow, achieve, and discover your greatness! 1

Home TV Shows Originals Recently Added Mr. Mahesh Sajnani SERIES My Dear Students of 2021! It is my honour and privilege to pen a few lines for this yearbook. The year has been different but rewarding for me as I joined back Al Diyafah High School after spending six years in different schools in Dubai. This year has been unique and filled with extraordinary challenges for your batch, teachers and your parents. Each day has passed with hopes of a better tomorrow and return to normalcy from the current distances we face. The safety measures we were compelled to take, to protect the ones around, has brought us to understand the value of small things that actually matter in life. We can take this as a blessing for us to learn from and understand that difficulties only make us stronger. Despite these challenges you have come out strong and I have been fortunate to witness some of your passion in the school during lessons, exams, events, service learning, volunteering etc. In years to come you will be known for your resilience and the batch which won against all odds. Mrs. Flavia Castelino Dear Class of 2021, I am not one for looking backwards in life, but this yearbook is probably a fitting platform to pay tribute to your contribution to our school. Over the years you have taken part in many school events and activities, whether outreach, sporting, musical, dramatic or artistic. You have helped make our school a better place, improving it in ways both seen and unseen. When called upon, you have acted as student leaders and role models. You are the dreamers, the achievers, the overcomers! However, instead of just celebrating what you have done, I would like to concentrate on the promise of what you will do in the years to come. Despite the pandemic and the environmental crisis, I am full of hope. And the reason I am full of hope is because of each one of you. Your education at Al Diyafah, has armed you with confidence, determination and a strong set of values which means that you do not shy away from fighting for what is right. I hope that in the years to come you will use what you have gained from school to transform our society into one that reflects respect for the dignity of all life. The UN has described young people as ‘critical agents of change’. There is much that needs changing in this world, so I hope that you will take the strong foundations you have established at Al Diyafah and use them as a platform to do all you can to transform our world for the better. I am confident that each one of you, in your own unique way, will have a positive impact on the world around you. Good luck, your mission ahead is huge, but you will always have the support of your Diyafah family. 2

Home TV Shows Originals Recently Added Mrs. Mallika Menon SERIES \"Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time\" This quote by Thomas Edison is the perfect description for the class of 2021, they had every reason to give up and yet they encouraged each other to try one more time. When people look back on 2020-21, they will inevitably remember it for one thing. When I look back at this year, I will also think of a year group full of characters, a year group with amazing potential. Every student had to tap into a greater resolution, a greater determination, a greater strength than they had ever before or any student before them. This year has been a test like no other and I'm proud to say that my batch of 2021 has showcased a resounding dedication to perform and support each other through this time. I have complete confidence that you will bring about great change in this world armed with empathy, resilience, and astounding talent. So, it’s goodbye for now but I hope you’ll drop back in and see us from time to time to let us know how you’re doing. It would be great to see you. Dear boys & girls, Mrs. Sujatha Suresh With a sad but accomplished heart, I have to say, ‘till we meet again’. Your batch has gone through a lot. Physically staying away from the campus that too in the last year of your schooling, missing out on meeting and greeting your loved ones, switching over to online lessons, the uncertainty due to the pandemic – you have aced it all and come out as victors. I congratulate you on completing your course despite all the odds. More than that, I applaud you on coming out of this course of life as a survivor who fielded everything thrown your way. That according to me deserves much bigger accolade than anything else. My wishes for you are for a bright and a successful future. Stay happy and spread happiness. Be empathetic and always strive for the greater good. Your Head of Year Sujatha Suresh 3

Home TV Shows Originals Recently Added SERIES LETTER FROM THE HEAD BOY AND HEAD GIRL To the batch of 2021, We made it! Despite all odds and impediments, we persevered. We have finally reached our last dance and we couldn’t be grateful enough that it was you, twirling & swaying your way through high school along with us. We often rest and dwell upon how ill-fated we are to have experienced our final years at our alma mater at a time of a global pandemic. This isn’t the celebration that we envisioned or the goodbye we have dreamt for, but it was always blissful knowing that when the chips were down, we had you to fall back on. We don’t say this enough but thank you. Thank you for just being there, it’s the lessons from our memorable experiences and mutual encounters that have yielded us into the capable individuals we are today. Each and every one of you are the reason we can stand proud and say we have become better people than we were yesterday. To our teachers, we are forever indebted to you for providing us with the prerequisites that have allowed us to sprout from dormant seeds into blooming beings. We will forever be filled with gratitude towards the time and effort that this school, our second home, have given us. 13

Home TV Shows Originals Recently Added We've spent the last 13 years manifesting the privilege of Sixth Form, only to be left in command, when it mattered, of whether to attend class via laptop or phone. From browsing the internet to get the most difficult questions from our teachers, to spending countless hours in a lobby amongst ourselves. From our various sporting events to providing a shoulder on which to boost our egos after tea junction; somewhere along the line, we grew up. We can safely say with all our hearts that no matter where we are, a piece of us will always remain in this school for our juniors to look up to. While we may not seem like the most memorable batch this year, we know for sure that the moments we left behind will always be here and that you all have been nothing but amazing role models for everyone in this school. Remember that and keep it in mind for as long as you can. You have the potential to change the world. As long as we don't lose sight of our values and don't forget who we are, we will grow stronger and stronger. Every move you make will feel like it's being scrutinized, and that's okay, because leading an orchestra means turning your back on your audience indefinitely. As long as you have a continuous burning passion for what you want to do in this life, a relentless drive, and the will to do whatever it takes to make sure you get there, you are already where you need to be. It goes without saying that Al Diyafah High School will never be the same after graduation. Signing out for one last time, Mannan Baig and Nazneem Shaji 14

The excitement and anticipation of badging the new student council occurs at the beginning of every academic year; this badging makes them the official representatives of the student body. Watching the badging of the student council and witnessing the oath-taking ceremony certainly gives us a burst of motivation, persuading us to do better for the school. Hearing the kind and assuring words of the elected members reminds us that we are safe and in good hands- with someone to listen and tend to us. Witnessing the investiture ceremony gives the Diyafites a great sense of pride as we watch the most suited take the title and lead the student body through another school year. 17

As we entered the huge ballroom with all 4 corners decorated to match the theme, the feeling of experiencing this once in a lifetime event felt magical. Everyone was dressed from head to toe in the fanciest suits and ball gowns that made us unrecognizable from our usual everyday attire. Within a few hours, the ballroom echoed with voices shouting song lyrics and the heavy stomping of feet on the dance floor. Those who preferred to remain seated and enjoy the delicious delights of the buffet enjoyed the ample seating and wide selection of food. The buffet consisted of a perfect intercontinental mix - from steak to pasta and much more with a great selection of drinks. The evening did not end without a number of photos in front of the picturesque view from the ballroom windows or the gorgeous backdrops in the room. The evening left a lifetime of memories of one of the most eventful and exciting evenings for the class of 2020-2021. 19

The Diyafah family wanted to help our 'aunties and uncles' improve their basic English and IT skills. The Sixth Form came together and volunteered to teach the Support Staff basics in conversation and use of technology. The students who taught English split into pairs of bilingual students, which facilitated communication between the tutors and volunteers. The lesson plans included vowels, past and present tense, and much more! Volunteers from IT taught staff how to use applications such as Word and Excel, as well as functions such as changing text size, font, text colour, and so on, again assigning a pair of students per class. The students themselves hope that what they have learned will play a role in their daily interactions and look forward to seeing how they progress with what they have learned. This learning experience was a memorable one for both sides alike. 21

Carrying the Diyafah flag in hand, the students walked together with pride. Amidst laughs and smiles it was a tedious exercise, yet a rewarding one. The end of the path was a bittersweet moment. Among multitudes of pictures being taken, there was the delight of fulfilling a purpose and the sadness at having to part. After an enriching 3 kilometers, it was time to leave, tired but happy. 22

Social distancing protocols prevented us from physically coming together in her memory. 2020 pushed us to think more creatively to commemorate our founder. Fortunately, the intelligent and innovative students were so enthusiastic that they took us on a trip down memory lane with wonderful stories and stunning images. With the help of the trusted team at IT and our wonderful teachers, a handful of talented animators and scriptwriters produced an animation that tells the story of Mrs. D'Cunha's amazing life. To honor Mrs. D'Cunha's legacy, there was a lively dance performance by a group of our super seniors. This work of art in motion is a memento of her accomplishments and loving spirit.
