PROBLEM MOISTURE IS THE ENEMY For runners, moisture is the foot’s worst enemy. Moisture causes painful, even race-ending blisters, Athlete’s Foot fungus, odor causing bacteria and over-all discomfort. Runners’ feet get wet either from sweat, puddles, wet grass, rain, snow, or by getting splashed at a race water station. In cold/freezing weather, moisture on the skin pulls heat away 23 times faster than air, reducing the temperature so rapidly that wet feet become painfully cold and much more susceptible to frostbite or Non-Freezing Cold Injury. Marketing Hype Can’t Escape the Laws of Physics Wicking fiber socks all claim to keep feet dry. However this is marketing hype and doesn’t change the fact that wicking fiber socks are not able to keep feet dry. Most wicking fibers are made from polyester, acrylic, nylon or wool and are Hydrophilic (water liking) because they have positive & negative charges on their surfaces. This attracts the negative & positive charges of the water or sweat molecules. Moisture sticks to wicking fibers Because wicking fibers attract moisture and are Wicking fibers get wet and hold moisture against the skin next to the skin, they hold moisture against the skin, keeping skin wet. Once wet, wicking fiber socks remain wet until well after the sweating stops and the slow process of evaporation inside a shoe takes place. WICKING WICKING FIBER SOCK Wicking fiber sock manufacturers say their FIBERS socks wick moisture “away” from the skin. This (SWEAT) is misleading as wicking fiber socks also OUTSIDE Wicking sweat across the skin wick sweat across and towards the WICKING skin, which helps keep the skin wet. FIBERS Wicking fiber technology works for a shirt INSIDE where the sweat can evaporate into the open air, versus a sock trapped inside a shoe where SKIN little if any evaporation can take place. 4

SOLUTION FIBER TECHNOLOGY THE SCIENCE OF KEEPING SKIN DRY Dryness Only 2 Different Technology Layers Can Provide The laws of physics dictate that no single fiber technology can attract and repel moisture at the same time. To overcome this, drymax products utilize different fiber technologies interwoven to form inner and outer layers. Super Hydrophobic Fiber drymax molecule Technology drymax fibers do not wick because they are Super Hydrophobic (moisture repelling). At the molecular level, moisture doesn’t adhere to the inner layer of drymax terry loops. drymax fibers stay dry by repelling moisture Removing Sweat From The Skin DRYMAX SOCK (Dual Layer Sweat Removal System) Because moisture does not adhere to the drymax fibers, they are able to OUTER LAYER mechanically lift sweat off the skin like a squeegee and transfer it into the moisture (SWEAT) DRYMAX FIBERS attracting outer layer without retaining this INNER LAYER moisture on the inside. SKIN S WE DUAL LAYER EM A Self-Contained System – Guaranteed to Work OUTER We designed a self-contained Dual Layer Sweat Removal System so we did not have to rely on the shoes to help keep INNER feet dry. This system works so well we guarantee it will AT RE M OVAL SYST keep feet dry and comfortable in all types of footwear and in cold, hot and even wet conditions WHAT YOU WEAR ON YOUR FEET AFFECTS COMFORT AND PERFORMANCE. CHOOSE YOUR SOCKS WISELY - YOUR FEET DEPEND ON IT. 5

SOCK FIT & TECHNICAL FEATURES SIZE MATTERS - Without an industry sock sizing standard we were forced to do a lot of research to formulate our True Fit™ Sock Size System. Our research determined we needed six unisex sock sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL to work with the shoe size numbers shown on the chart below. True Fit shoe sizes correspond to the 1.5 size difference between women’s & men’s shoe sizes. This is not always the case with other brands’ sock sizing. T R U E F I T TM S I Z I N G SHOE SIZES SOCK SIZE WOMEN USA MEN USA EUR CM WOMEN UK MEN UK XS — 1 - 3 32 - 35 20 - 22 — 13 - 2.5 5-7 4-6 2.5 - 4.5 JUNIOR 7.5 - 9.5 3.5 - 5.5 35 - 37.5 22 - 24 6.5 - 8.5 10 - 12 9 - 11 5-7 S 12.5 - 14.5 6 - 8 38 - 40.5 24.5 - 26.5 11.5 - 13.5 7.5 - 9.5 M — — 10 - 12 L 8.5 - 10.5 41 - 44 27 - 28.5 12.5 - 15 XL XXL 11 - 13 44.5 - 47 29 - 31 13.5 - 16 47.5 - 51 31.5 - 33.5 3D ADVANCED FIT - Once we had our True Fit shoe size numbers, we conducted a foot length/width study to be able to convert our numbers into physical 3D foot forms. These 3D forms are similar to shoe lasts and were probably the industry’s first three-dimensional sock fitting forms. Our 3D foot forms more accurately represent the 3D human foot as opposed to the 2D flat boards that are still the hosiery industry standard. Our system uses two different size 3D forms for each of our six sock sizes. For each sock size, the smaller form represents the shortest/narrowest foot to be fit, while the larger form represents the longest/widest foot. For a sock to fit properly it must not be too loose on the smaller 3D form, nor too tight on the larger 3D form. If a sock fits the smaller and larger 3D forms properly, it also fits everything in between. COLOR SIZE MARKS - Each drymax sock includes a color size mark for easy match-up after laundering. X S S M L X L XXL To help further sort our run socks, our 3 thinnest sock levels have an outlined color size mark. XS S M L XL XXL Our 2 thicker cushion levels have a solid color size mark. ANTI-SLIP WEDGE - When wearing low cut socks, the heel often slips down into the shoe which is annoying and can cause blisters and ruin a run/race. To help prevent sock slippage with our lower cut socks, we’ve added an anti-slip wedge pad at the upper back part of the sock’s heel. SOCK VERSION #: Knit into our socks is a version # (ex: v6). The version can be found inside the welt, except on no show or no show tab socks. As we advance our fiber technologies or sock designs, we update the version #. ACTIVE ODOR CONTROL - The antimicrobial in the drymax fibers fights odor-causing bacteria, helping keep socks odor free. Not a topical treatment, the antimicrobial is molecularly infused into our drymax fibers. Being non-migratory and non-toxic, the antimicrobial provides long term ACTIVE ODOR CONTROL. If you purchase socks that don’t fit properly, you’ll pay for them at the cash register and every time you wear them! 8

OLS FRICTION LIMINATES MOISTUR REDUCES H ANTI-BLISTER SYSTEM - Several features built into every drymax sock work together E E as an Anti-Blister System to actively prevent the formation of blisters. 1) Anatomical 3D fit ANTI-BLISTER with six sock sizes, 2) Seamless insides, 3) An instep-hugging arch band, and 4) Because SYSTEM drymax fiber technology socks stay dry, the skin stays dry too; therefore, blisters caused by sweat are mostly prevented. CONTR EAT BLISTER PROTECTION+ - To provide our highest level of blister protection, our most technical run socks use super low friction PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) fibers in the high friction areas of the socks. PTFE is Super Hydrophobic like the drymax fiber. It does not absorb, nor wick sweat and sweat does not stick to PTFE’s surface. We have determined the proper ratio of PTFE to use; too little is ineffective, too much, the foot slides excessively in the shoe. We use 100% PTFE, which cost about $70 per pound, as opposed to much cheaper surface coated fibers. Coefficient of FrictionHIGHER Fiber Friction Comparison PTFE has the lowest Coefficient-of-Friction INFRARED (worse) PTFE Polyester Nylon Cotton Wool of any fiber, making it the best at keeping friction low between the skin and sock. THERMAL ANALYSIS 0.45 0.40 Low friction PTFE allows our running socks Competitor DRYMAX/PTFE 0.35 with the Blister Protection+ System to keep 0.30 feet cooler and drier, reducing the chance HOT FOOT COOLER FOOT 0.25 0.20 of chafing, hot spots or blisters. 0.15 0.10 0.05 0.00 LOWER (better) If you need skin lubricants on your feet, you’re wearing the wrong socks! COOLER FEET - All drymax Running socks with the exception of the Cold Weather and Trail socks, possess top and/or bottom air vents; designed to work with the built-in vent systems in the latest generation of breathable running shoes. These vents release heat/sweat vapors to keep feet cooler, drier and more comfortable. CUSHION THICKNESS GAUGE - We use the gauge at left to show the CUSHION relative difference in flat knit or cushion thickness of our socks. CUSHION Depending on their intended use, drymax run socks are level 1 THICKNESS GAUGE or 2 flat knit (thin), or are level 3, 4 or 5 with terry loop cushioning. Our terry loop cushioning utilizes dense cushioning, not super thick cushioning, as it cushions & protects with minimal altering of the fit of the shoes. DENSE PADDING - drymax level 3 cushion socks have approximately 43,200 terry loops per square inch. drymax socks are knit with dense terry loops to help keep them from quickly flattening out which better protects the feet. drymax sock dense cushioning STAY DRY & COMFORTABLE GUARANTEE - drymax socks will keep feet drier & more comfortable than any other sock. If your customers do not agree, they can return socks with the sales receipt to Drymax Technologies Inc. for a full refund. 9

Environmentally Speaking . . . Package Dyed Fibers & Socks After they are extruded, most fibers used to knit socks are colored on dye cones or by placing socks in a dye bath. This is called package dyeing. Socks made this way are not 100% colorfast and bleed/fade faster. This process also requires additional energy to boil water to dye the fibers/socks which produces dye waste water. Work is being done to greatly reduce or eliminate the water needed for the package dye process. Some of our socks use package dyed yarns for our outer layer fibers. drymax - Solution Dyed Fibers ECO FRIENDLY drymax technology fibers are solution (dope) dyed where color pigments are added when extruded, locking in their pigments, producing colors that tend not to bleed/fade. After the fibers are made this dye process requires no additional energy and creates no dye waste water. Staple Fibers/Yarns Many socks use manmade staple yarns which are shorter length fibers (1” to 2”) twisted (spun) together to make a yarn. Staple fibers feel soft to the touch, but easily shed making them weaker. drymax Filamant Fibers/Yarns ECO FRIENDLY Filament yarns use long filament fibers from the start to the end of the sock. Filament fibers are stronger because they do not easily shed. We use filament yarns to help our drymax socks last longer. A product that lasts longer tends to be better for the environment. The Deceptive Trick of Using Fabric Softener on Socks Consumers often choose socks using their thumb & fingers to feel how soft the socks are. For this reason, some manufacturers coat their running socks with fabric softener, temporarily making much softer-feeling socks. Fabric softener is used to convince consumers to purchase their socks while their packaging cautions, “Do not use fabric softener”, even though fabric softener reduces the sock fibers’ effectiveness to move moisture. Fabric softeners are petroleum/silicone or lipid (fatty) substances that are not easily biodegradable and can irritate the skin. Once the socks are washed the softener and softer feel go right down the drain. drymax Socks are Fabric Softener Free ECO FRIENDLY We don’t use fabric softeners on our drymax socks because sock fibers need to be free of softener to work properly. drymax socks are Race Ready right out of the package. Not using fabric softeners saves energy, creates less pollution and is less likely to cause skin irritations, it’s better for the environment and runners! Laundry Fiber Pollution Manmade plastic fibers being released from washing machines into our waterways and oceans have become a concern. It has been reported that microplastic fibers are being ingested by all types of marine life, including fish we eat. Look at the fibers that collect in the dryer lint tray. Washing machines, however, don’t have a trap to collect plastic fibers that shed from clothes. Further research needs to be done to better understand and eliminate this problem. We believe using filament fibers/yarns as opposed to weaker staple fibers/yarns makes ECO our products more resistant to shedding plastic fibers into the wash water and beyond. FRIENDLY We didn’t turn green overnight; this is just what we do. 10

Frequently Asked Questions Will the drymax technology wear out or wash out? No, the drymax fiber technology is permanent and will work for the life of the socks. Will my feet still sweat wearing drymax socks? Yes, as drymax fibers are not an antiperspirant. It’s normal after a run to take off your shoes & socks and see sweat appearing on your feet. You’ll continue to sweat until you cool down. Do drymax socks eliminate all blisters? Socks are not the only cause of blisters, so no sock manufacturer should claim their socks can prevent all blisters. Blisters caused by socks normally develop because they do not fit, have an irritating seam or become wet. Do drymax socks provide arch support? To claim socks provide real arch support is not legitimate. When the foot bears weight, the Spandex fibers in the arch stretch downward as much as the foot’s arch lowers. drymax socks have an instep-hugging arch band reinforced with Spandex which helps hold the sock in place. If your customers need arch support, sell them an arch support insole. Why do my feet get wet in Waterproof/Breathable footwear? BEST SOCKS FOR Under ideal lab conditions, Waterproof/Breathable fabrics work well at preventing WATERPROOF BREATHABLE water from entering and allowing water vapor to escape. It’s harder for W/B fabric FOOTWEAR technology to work well in footwear under real world conditions. A W/B jacket’s unobstructed breathing area can be 10 square feet or close to 100%. A jacket can also breathe from the top & bottom. The unobstructed breathable fabric area for W/B run shoe can be less than 8 square inches and it’s closed around the top & bottom. Construction of the shoe effects breathability too. Midsoles don’t breathe and are about 40% of a shoe/boot outer surface, additionally upper materials like heel counters, reinforcements, logos, decorations and trim all decrease the shoe’s ability to breathe. When running, feet generate a lot of sweat; and while it’s the goal for W/B running shoes to keep skin dry, they can’t succeed once the wicking fiber socks get wet and hold the sweat against the skin. The drymax Dual Layer Sweat Removal System moves sweat off the skin to the socks’ outer layer helping keep feet dry. drymax socks are the very best to wear with waterproof/breathable footwear. Do drymax socks absorb shock? BARE FOOT drymax Claiming an ordinary sock can ‘absorb shock’ is ridiculous. Shoes absorb shock. HIGHER Socks, depending on their construction, can cushion feet by reducing peak PRESSURE pressure. We have not seen any credible evidence where ordinary socks actually absorb shock. LOWER PRESSURE The drymax R & D Lab has an F-Scan® pressure mapping system. The F-Scan graphic at right shows the amount of pressure on a bare foot while walking versus NO PROTECTIVE the same foot walking in a drymax Level 3 cushion sock. Our dense cushioning PROTECTION PADDING slightly lowers the pressure under the heel, forefoot & toes. Should I use lubricants/powders on my feet while wearing drymax socks? No, these will temporarily compromise the drymax fiber technology. If you have used lubricants/powders/fabric softeners, they can be removed fromour socks in the wash with laundry detergent. If you are prone to getting blisters wear one of our Extra Protection or Maximum Protection running socks. If drymax socks are so good, do major colleges & professional teams buy them? Yes, lots of them do! Are drymax socks waterproof? No, they are not. 11

THE BLISTER PROBLEM Foot Blisters are the Most Common Running Injury Foot blisters are the most common injury and seem inevitable when running long distances. One study in the Journal of Sports Medicine 2004;38:498-501 reported that up to 39% of marathon runners experienced foot blisters while running marathons. Runners can’t condition their feet to not get blisters for long distance races of 100+ miles, especially if the conditions of the course are poor. In the past, the most successful runners learned to run with painful blisters even calling them “a badge of courage.” There has been limited success in actually preventing blisters as runners have tried everything including Vaseline®, skin lubricants, anti-perspirants, astringents, powders and tape. These ‘tricks’ may help for a short period of time, but are not effective over long distances. Using lubricants on feet can be detrimental as they coat sock fibers, preventing socks from removing moisture from the skin. Foot Blisters Can Lead To Further Injury A study to determine the association of blisters with subsequent injuries was conducted by RS Bush, SK Brodine & RA Shaffer with 2,130 male US Marine Corps recruits participating in initial physical training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. The study found that recruits with blisters were 50% more likely to experience an additional training-related injury. BLISTER CYCLE Foot blisters are most common on the toes, heel and ball of the foot. Blisters caused by socks usually occur when socks do not fit, their seams irritate the skin, and/or the socks become wet. Wet socks soften and weaken the skin, making feet more vulnerable to blisters. Heat, Moisture and Friction work together to cause blisters, each contributes to the severity of the other, creating a Blister Cycle. HEAT Excess heat normally radiates away from bare feet, but wearing shoes & socks traps heat, elevating the temperature of the skin. Additional heat generated by the friction of physical activity can further raise the temperature inside shoes. MOISTURE MOISTUR With higher than normal E skin temperature, the HEAT body produces sweat to BLISTER cool the skin by CYCLE evaporation. Wearing shoes prevents INNER LAYER (tissue) FRICTION evaporative cooling SHEAR LINE Normal from effectively taking (tissues separate Movement place, leaving socks and forming a blister) BLISTER feet wet. INCREASED FRICTION FRICTION MRoevdeumc ee dn t Moisture increases friction between socks (wet sock sticks to skin) SKIN SURFACE and skin. Higher friction limits skin WET SOCK surface movement, but still allows inner INSOLE tissue movement. This creates a shearing BLISTER FORMATON effect separating the two layers, which creates a void. This void fills with fluid forming a blister. 12

CHOOSE YOUR SOCKS WISELY Your feet depend on it. After running a 100 mile race After running a 100 mile race wearing wicking fiber socks wearing socks Lore Ultra-runner Andy Jones Wilkins suffered with horrible blisters and macerated - pmeel away skin from wearing wicking fiber socks during a 100 mile race (see photo above left). Andy’s feet fell apart because his feet & socks were soaked with sweat for almost the entire 100 mile race. Andy’s friend suggested he switch to drymax socks for his upcoming Western States 100 Mile Endurance Run later that summer. Andy wore drymax Maximum Protection Trail Running socks and avoided the traumatic foot issues he previously had wearing wicking fiber socks. Andy trusts his feet to drymax socks and has relied on drymax socks to protect his feet ever since he made the switch. His smile says it all! 1331

Road shoes are not well suited for running trails as they lack the proper tread, midsole and other features necessary for negotiating trails. Also, road shoes often have open mesh allowing trail dirt, sand etc. to enter the shoe. According to the 2nd survey about half the runners either lack the understanding or are skeptical of the real benefits from wearing trail shoes & socks and other trail specific gear.
