There are two rotor options for this vehicle, a 6 lug rotor (P/N 54107) and a 7 lug rotor (P/N 54108). When installing the front brake rotors on these vehicles, Ford Motor Company recom- mends installing a new axle nut and not reusing the axle nut once it has been removed. As new, the axle nut incorporates a self-locking mechanism to prevent the nuts from loosening (Fig. 2). Once the axle nut has been removed, this self-locking feature is lost. When installing this part, it is critical to follow these steps: • Always install a new axle nut. Do not reuse the axle nut once it has been removed • Tighten the axle nut to 295 ft. lbs. This will prevent possible loosening of the nut and insure proper pre-load of the hub bearing • Failure to follow these steps may cause premature wear or damage to the bearing and could void any war- ranty of the rotor Figure 1 Figure 2 615-170 or N65901 132 General Repair
