["Summary of the Cognitive
Assessment Process
Our cognitive assessments have been built up to
become an exceptionally highly regarded piece
of work. These assessments can open the door to
necessary support for children and young people
and we have found that families are extremely
grateful for what we offer. We don’t believe
that the offer is particularly “out there”, but we
are certainly one of the only services in the UK
to offer such a comprehensive assessment, in
a timely manner, using as much technology as
possible to support our team.
We do not claim to be educational psychologists.
If a family are specifically looking for an
educational psychologist, we will refer this on.
But, we have found that the majority of families
have just been told to seek an educational
psychologist, but do not really know what
this means, or why, or the limitations of an
educational psychologist’s assessment compared
to ours. When we outline the detail our
assessments, families can hear that we are very
thorough, and will be able to offer something
much more in depth than our educational
psychologist counterparts.
Similarly to our autism and ADHD assessments,
we will always prioritise the integrity of the
assessment over other dynamics, such as
finances or other pressures.
The assessments follow a simple structure. The
entire process is outlined in a summary video:
www.bit.ly/CAYPCognitiveBooking
. We also ran
a cognitive assessment training video, which
covered the specifics:
www.bit.ly/CAYPCognitiveTraining
.
1.
DEVELOPMENTAL HISTORY
This is offered face-to-face or online. This
will cover a neuropsychologically-driven
developmental history and education history
2.
THE ASSESSMENT
This must be face-to-face, and is made up of
two core elements.
A.
Intellectual ability – administered via
the WISC-V on QInteractive. We also
have access to the WPPSI-IV and
the WAIS-IV should you need to offer
assessments for younger or older
children.
B.
Academic ability – administered
via the WIAT-III QInteractive.
This includes the following battery,
administered via QInteractivie
You can also do the WPPSI (paper kit) / WAIS
(QInteractive) depending on age / ability.
Cognitive Assessments
50","3.
THE ONLINE ASSESSMENT
These two questionnaires can be done
online so the parents / carers complete this
assessment in their own home. It is helpful to review the results and
recommendations in the meeting and send
a draft report later that day. You may have
comments from the feedback that you’d like
to incorporate into your report.
5.
Send a draft report, offer one round of
amendments (more at your discretion), then
following formatting, the finalised report will
be sent once the outstanding balance is paid.
A cognitive assessment is charged at £1800.
51","Administration of Cognitive
Assessments
The cognitive assessments are split into three
payments that are automatically created as
families progress through the assessment.
These are:
1.
Deposit payment.
2.
First balance payment.
3.
Final balance payment.
Each appointment type is linked to a lot of
automation, so it’s really important to use the
correct appointment types, and to follow this
process. If a family want to deviate from the
process, for example, they want to pay all in one
go, or merge appointments together, please run
this past us first, otherwise the automation will
go a little haywire.
1.
DEPOSIT PAYMENT
You’ve had the phone call with the family.
At the end of this call (if the family go ahead
or not) send the assessment brochure via
email (
www.bit.ly/cognitiveassessments
). If
the family agree to proceed with a cognitive
assessment, book the “Cognitive Assessment
– Deposit” appointment type. Book it at the
time you agreed to proceed. You must mute
the notifications. For any deposit, we don’t
want the family to think that they will be
coming for an appointment. Send the deposit
invoice. Use the “Cognitive Assessment -
Deposit” invoice.
Send your Bank Details document (click
“Create” --> “Document” --> choose the
relevant bank details option --> click the
email icon --> click the relevant recipient
--> choose the “Bank Details” template -->
“Email Document”). Then send the invoice, as
per the invoicing process. Use the “Cognitive
Assessment - Deposit Invoice” template.
This payment is refundable if the families
choose not to go ahead. The £200 is used as
a method to commit families to the process
and reduce non-attendance, in addition to
reducing the financial demands later down
the line.
2.
DEVELOPMENTAL HISTORY /
FIRST BALANCE PAYMENT
It’s time to book the actual assessment
appointment. Again, do this as you
typically would, using the appointment
type “Cognitive Assessment – Initial
Appointment” appointment type. You’ll
then need to send the clinic directions, so
the family know where to travel to / how to
park etc.
Send your Directions document (click
“Create” --> “Document” --> choose the
relevant directions option --> click the email
icon --> click the relevant recipient -->
choose the “Directions” template --> “Email
Document”).
Complete the clinic appointment. It may be
that you have completed everything at this
appointment. Alternatively, you may need
to meet the family again. If you are finished
or not, send the invoice for the first balance
payment - use the invoice type “Cognitive
Assessment - First Invoice” invoice). If
you need to meet the family again, use the
“Cognitive Assessment – Continuation of
Assessment” appointment type. There’s no
need to send any terms and conditions, as
this has all been automated for you.
3.
SEND THE ONLINE QUESTIONNAIRES
You will want to complete the Vineland and
BYI using the QGlobal software. Here are two
guides to setting up the Vineland
(
www.bit.ly/CAYPVinelandOnQ
) and the
Beck Youth Inventories
(
www.bit.ly/CAYPBYIOnQ
).
If you need to speak with school, you are
welcome to ask our assistant psychologist
to help. You may also wish to review any
previous correspondence to help to develop
your formulation.
52","4.
FEEDBACK APPOINTMENT /
FINAL BALANCE PAYMENT
When your assessment is finished, you’ll
want to book the feedback meeting
with the family. Agree a date, then use
the “Cognitive Assessment – Feedback
of Results” appointment type. After the
meeting, send the draft report to the family
to check. The family can request some
textual amendments (e.g., typos, or factual
inaccuracies), but you must never change the
outcome of an assessment. At the same time,
send the final invoice (using the “Cognitive
Assessment - Final Invoice” invoice). Once
you’ve made the changes, send the report
to us for formatting. We will ensure that the
report is formatted correctly, then return the
report to you). Once this final invoice is paid,
the family can be sent the finalised report
and this gets uploaded to WriteUpp.
**
Every step along the way, the family will get
automated messages and emails to inform them
of where they are up to in their assessment, in
their payments and what is coming next. It is
crystal clear for them, but this automation will
only work if you use the correct appointment
types. Reading all this information may make it
appear that there is a load of work associated
with this. In reality, the administration requires
just a few clicks, which may take a little time
initially. This process reduces some of the admin
burden associated with the appointments.
PLEASE DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THIS
PROCESS UNLESS AGREED
A Quick Guide for Cognitive
Assessments
1.
Call the family and agree a cognitive
assessment.
2.
Book the “Cognitive Assessment - Deposit”
appointment type. Mute the notifications.
Then at the same time:
A.
Send the Bank Details document.
B.
Send the “Cognitive Assessment -
Deposit” invoice.
C.
Book the “Initial Assessment”
appointment type.
D.
Send the Directions document.
3.
Complete your developmental history and
book your next session to start the face-to-
face assessment. After the first meeting, send
the “Cognitive Assessment - First Invoice”
invoice.
4.
Unless you have completed the whole
assessment at this first appointment, book
the “Cognitive Assessment - Additional
Session” appointment type.
5.
Send the Vineland and Beck Youth
Inventories.
6.
Book your feedback session. Book the
“Cognitive Assessment - Feedback of Results”
appointment type on WriteUpp.
7.
Send the draft report and at the same time:
A.
Send the “Cognitive Assessment -
Final Invoice”.
8.
Make any necessary amendments and send
to us for formatting.
9.
Send the final report to the family.
10.
Discharge the family.
53","Links to Explanatory Videos
These links work best on Google Chrome, and
may take a couple of minutes to load
Taking referrals from the lists
www.bit.ly/CAYPLists
The initial phone call
www.bit.ly/CAYPInitialCall
Therapeutic appointments administration
www.bit.ly/CAYPTherapyBooking
Booking an appointment on Teams
www.bit.ly/CAYPTeamsBooking
Autism assessment administration
www.bit.ly/CAYPAutismBooking
ADHD assessment administration
www.bit.ly/CAYPADHDBooking
Arranging an autism / ADHD mini-report
www.bit.ly/CAYPMini-Report
Setting up the Conners questionnaire
www.bit.ly/CAYPConnersOnline
Setting up the SRS-2 questionnaire
www.bit.ly/CAYPSRSOnline
Cognitive assessment administration
www.bit.ly/CAYPCognitiveBooking
Setting up the Vineland questionnaire
www.bit.ly/CAYPVinelandOnQ
Setting up the Beck Youth Inventories
www.bit.ly/CAYPBYIOnQ
Training Videos
ADHD Assessments
www.bit.ly/ADHDtrainingCAYP
Cognitive Assessments
www.bit.ly/CAYPCognitiveTraining
Links to Online Brochures
Autism Assessments
www.bit.ly/autismassessments
ADHD Assessments
www.bit.ly/adhdassessments
Cognitive Assessments
www.bit.ly/cognitiveassessments
Therapeutic Work
www.bit.ly/therapeuticsupport
Video Interaction Guidance
www.bit.ly/VIGwithCAYP
What Next?
