DG D2482 Vesselin Dimitrov Message for August 2018 For a full existence, a club and an organization take care of their members, the people who give life and fill the ideas and missions with content. Burgas, 01 August 2018 “Give the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back, and reasons to stay.” – Dalai Lama. Dear Rotary friends, When we are building a house that is sustainable, to withstand the weather and all the challenges of nature, begin by checking where the future home will be built. Pour out the right foundations, select the right materials, build the walls and so on the roof. All the time we are led by the goal of building a sustainable and functional modern home. When he is ready, healthy and stable, we choose the furnishings, the color of the curtains and all those things that beautify and decorate our main purpose. Of course, over time, adjustments need to be made to respond to changing conditions. When we want to build a fortress to keep its occupants and attract more, we take precautions to allow only the right people to have it in order to have no internal breakdown, build a shield to protect them from external attacks, work continuously to improve its security and make it impenetrable. The topic of August set by Rotary International is the membership and expansion. For a full existence, a club and an organization take care of their members, the people who give life and fill the ideas and missions with content. To make our clubs sustainable and strong, we need to motivate current and future Rotarians. This is the month in which a prophylactic review of the status of the club is appropriate. Let's look for and find answers to the following questions: What is it that hold / keep our friends and what attracts new members? What is it that makes friends to lose interest and leave our ranks? What is it that repels and makes our clubs unattractive for new adherents?
Every worker needs a break to recover and be complete. Every worker needs annual leave. And just a month after the start of the Rotary year is the most famous holiday period. Most of us use it to rest and to break away from its fascinating environment. This leads to a sharp drop in attendance at club meetings. By accepting the invitation to become a Rotary member, each of us has volunteered to abide by the rules of the organization and serve his community. I believe that during this Rotary year we can be the inspiration for ourselves and our friends to make a difference between work and service. To motivate friends to be with us at our weekly meetings, taking advantage of the opportunity to be present virtually. Under the new rules of our organization, this is permissible, and I'm sure club presidents and their boards can technically secure it. The coming month of August opens up the opportunity for each of us to be the inspiration for turning our clubs into an attraction center for more people. Let's turn our homes into protected fortresses that keep their members and attract new friends, engaging them with Rotary magic, and ensuring continuity and sustainability. Yours in Rotary, Veselin Dimitrov, District Governor 2018-19 District 2482 Bulgaria
