DG Vesselin Dimitrov Message for October 2018 https://www.rotary-bulgaria.org/%D0%BD%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B8/947/ Burgas, 01 October 2018 “When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.” John Lennon Dear Rotary Friends Summer was imperceptibly replaced by autumn. The time for deserved rest was followed by the first school day for the young generation. Interact and Rotaract renewed their meetings. Every month and every day are important for our perfection as personalities. Rotary sets a different theme for the different months of the year, and as these themes are interrelated and developing Rotarianity in communities and around the world, our service is constant. We are witnessing how the rise in the economy of a community influences the relations between its citizens, the development of itself. The opposite is true. Very often both situations are used to justify what has been achieved. Friends, I believe that we Rotarians are not influenced by the economic development of our communities. I believe that this

year we will motivate friends in our clubs, our fellow citizens and the younger generation to achieve a positive development in our communities. What is more valuable - the smile of every person's face or the possession of an expensive item? Is there anything more valuable than the possibility of every newborn child growing carelessly? The topic set by Rotary International for October is Economic and Social Development. During this month, we Rotarians can initiate change by inspiring our communities to realize together a nature conservation project, to implement a project to help young people in their professional development. Thus, we will make a contribution to overcoming the lack of prepared staff, unnecessary aggression, environmental pollution, destructive processes for society. Friends, in August I was visiting the neighborhood Faculteta. There, with the active help of friends from the Rotary Clubs of Sofia, one of Rotary's programs - the Rotary Community Corps - is implemented. I suppose everyone is aware of the economic situation of the majority in this neighborhood. Nonetheless, there are people who motivate their fellow citizens and young people to change, to impose universal human values. What's ahead: On October 6, the Public Image Seminar will be held in the town of Stara Zagora. Recognizing Rotarians in our communities is vital to our service. Any organization that diminishes its public identity is doomed to misunderstanding and oblivion. On 24 October, we celebrate the World Polio Day. Let us be inspired to implement projects informing our communities about this challenge and to raise funds to eradicate this scourge for the humanity from all over our planet. Friends, together, we can be the inspiration for the young generation, for building communities in which everyone has grown happy. Together we can make a healthy, educated and civilized society. Your Rotary Veselin Dimitrov, District Governor 2018-19 District 2482 Bulgaria
