The days become shorter, the weather turns cool, but in our clubs and district it’s getting hotter with a series of important and interesting events and opportunities for service and friendship. You have just several days left to register for the seminar in Arbanasi on the 10th of October, dedicated to the Effective public relations and the positive public image of Rotary. Open the Program so that you get acquainted with the topics, lecturers – well-known journalists, professionals and fellow Rotarians from Bulgaria, Turkey and England, the time you could dedicate to new friendships, to sharing ideas about Rotary and to business. On the same date and at the same place the second pre-PETS will be held – an important moment in the countdown of the elected presidents in their preparation for their year of service; Mail discussion groups and mail groups for performance of the district committees and the chairmen of club commissions have been formed and are in operation. Discussion of the tasks of each one and of the aims in the strategic plan of the district is been held presently in them. Get involved! Your ideas and opinions are important! The Committee for Young Generations is ready to assist all clubs in their work on the Youth programs and calls on the clubs which sponsor Interact to plan and to hold within this month a general assembly of the clubs and our young friends so they could assist them in arranging their ideas and projects in a better manner. The end of October is the deadline the clubs to formulate their aims and to lodge them with Rotary Club Central. Friends, presidents and secretaries, you have at your disposal and for your convenience a detailed and clear form in Bulgarian, result of the efforts of DGE Mitko Dimitrov and DGN Emil Kotsev. Use it without further delay! My meetings with the clubs provide me with confidence that everywhere work on membership development as diversity of experience, knowledge and professions, which constitute our power, has been going on. With pleasure I would like to mention RC of Kardzhali: with almost 20-year history continuing without fatigue and exhaustion to grow and attract successful and respected professionals, to develop lasting friendship among them by means of interesting projects. I would like to add also RC of Momchilgrad: a small one in a small town, but again with sustainable existence based on the power of friendship and selected valuable people. All of us have something to learn from them and let this year is the year of strengthened and more successful clubs! October is also a month in which we commemorate our long work on polio eradicating. On the global scene we approach the finish of this fight. On the 25th of September Worth Health Organization announced that 14 months without registering a single case takes Nigeria off the list of countries with endemic development of this disease. We are very close indeed! This month I will make a

I urge each one of you to act likewise. I do believe that each club will organize an event fundraising and will share with the public our success and our challenge. In the world of Rotary October is also a month dedicated to our work for social economic development of our communities. As Rotarians, led by the ideal for service, we have the potential and strength to achieve significant and positive changes. Many of our clubs have in their history and in their plans projects, which permanently improve the quality of life of groups in need. We have what to learn from RC of Velingrad which implemented a project for reducing youth unemployment in partnership with the local employers and business organizations and with a grant from a Rotary Foundation. We start actions for a second improved edition of our Business Lesson project, successful for many clubs. Through mentorship programs for forming financial and business culture of the young people, for development of entrepreneurial skills, by means of career days, competitions for young entrepreneurs and professional prizes even just by means of presentation of our profession in the club we have the power to convert our experience into a valuable resource for others. Dear friends, the clubs are the essence of Rotary and your dedication to the mission of turning your communities in a better place for living, working and human achievements is worthy of respect and full support. The district team is at your disposal for any necessary help and assistance. I strongly believe in team work, in openness and service to others. Let any fellow Rotarian know that you could address me or any of the assistant governors and members of the district committees with appeal for assistance, needed by him or his club. You definitely will find out that we have an amazing team, ready and willing to help. You are the important ones! We serve you! Success in October and during our whole year! Nina
