112 Sincerity 14 ACTIVITY BOOK

Activity 1 Magnetic Power Experiment! Introduction: In this activity, we will learn about the meaning of the Name al-Samad. Al-Samad means \"that which is depended on\". Everyone and everything depends on Allah to survive. For instance, if Allah didn’t give us water, air, or food, we wouldn’t be able to survive. But what does it mean to depend on God? Let’s do an experiment! We’ll use magnetic forces to learn about Allah as As-Samad. Materials: Instructions: Cute paper cup A few paper clips Magnet 1 First, we need to understand the concept of Water magnetic force. Fill a plastic cup with water and some metal paperclips inside. 2 Move the magnet up and down the cup. 3 You will see that the metal paperclips follow the magnet! Amazing! 15

Lessons: 1 Magnets have a pulling effect on metals. It is not pulled by the metals. But all metals are pulled by it. 2 In other words, magnets are independent from other metals. However, other metals are dependent on it. This is because metals are always influenced by magnets, but magnets are never influenced by metals. 3 Similarly, we depend on Allah for all things – our existence, our sustenance, etc. Conversely, Allah never depends on anything. We are influenced by Him, not the other way around. 4 By acknowledging Allah’s ultimate independence, and acknowledging our dependence on Him, we affirm the proper tawhid. Test your knowledge! 1. Activity 2 Water Glass Trick Introduction: In the previous lesson, we learned the meaning of al-Samad, which means Allah does not depend on anything. However, everything else depends on Allah – either knowingly or not. When we acknowledge our dependence on Him, there will be positive effects. What are the effects? Let’s find out! Materials: Instructions: Cute paper cup 1 Fill a glass with water all Art card paper the way to the top! 2 Hold the glass over a sink and carefully place the glossy side of the art card down on the rim of the glass. 3 Keep the palm of your hand placed on the card and turn the glass upside down. 4 Hold the glass with your other hand and let go of the hand holding the art card. Lessons: 1 The pressure of the atmosphere can push the water inside the glass. 2 There are many things that exist, but we don’t see. Activity 3 Kaabah Craft Introduction: Qiblat is the direction of Kaabah. Kaabah is the direction which we face in our prayers. This symbolizes the unity of mankind in daily life and in aqidah. There is no God but Allah, and this means there is no place of dependence except Allah as mentioned in verse 2 of Surah al-Ikhlas. Materials: Instructions: 1 Cut out the Kaabah mode at the lines with the scissors symbol. Printable Kaabah 2 Fold in the cut out Sheet template along the lines. Scissors 3 Apply glue on all the Glue side flaps. Map of Mecca 4 Glue the flaps to the sides and let your Kaabah craft dry. 5 Alhamdulillah, Yeay! Now you have your 3D Kaabah replica model. 6 Then, apply the same glue to the base of the Kaabah and stick it on the map of Mecca. 19

Lessons: This activity refers to verse 1 and 2 of Surah al-Ikhlas. When we acknowledge the oneness of Allah, We also acknowledge our love and dependence on Him because He is perfect, He depends on no one. Because we are imperfect, therefore we depend on Him. This belief in His oneness is reflected in the oneness of our qiblat, which is the Kaabah. Test your knowledge! 1. Where is Kaabah? 2. Activity 4 Shawal Thankfulness Jar Introduction: In this lesson, We will learn how to affirm the Oneness. One of the ways is to acknowledge our dependence on Him. How can we acknowledge it? By being thankful for the blessings He has given us. Together, let’s be thankful! Materials: Instructions: An empty plastic jar 1 First, arrange the LED LED fairy lights fairy lights in the jar. Let Sticky notes your creativity run wild. Cute pen 2 Write down all the things you are thankful to Allah for. Use the sticky notes and cute pen in your kit! 3 Roll up the papers and put them in the jar. 4 Turn on the LED fairy lights and marvel at the colourful notes that remind us of the blessings that we are thankful for. 21

Lessons: 1 Blessings of our body given by Allah, we also depend on Him on many other things, be happy and not have any worry. 2 Our family, our food, shelter, clothes, education, happiness, and everything else. All of these depend on the permission and mercy of Allah. 3 By being thankful, we are acknowledging our dependence on Allah.
