‫سورۃ الفجر‬ ‫‪The Complete Surah‬‬ ‫ِمۡسِب ٱلَّلِ ٱل َّر ۡحمَ ٰـ ِن ٱل َّر ِحي ِم‬ ‫َوٱلۡ َف ۡج ِر‪َ ١‬ولَ َيا ٍل َع ۡش ٍر‪َ ٢‬وٱل َّش ۡف ِع‬ ‫َوٱلۡ َوتۡ ِر‪َ ٣‬وٱلَّ ۡي ِل إِ َذا ي َ ۡس ِر‪َ ٤‬ه ۡل ف ِى َذٰلِ َك‬ ‫َألَ ۡم‬ ‫ّ‬ ‫َف َع َل‬ ‫َك ۡي َف‬ ‫تَ َر‬ ‫ِح ۡج ٍر‪٥‬‬ ‫ل ِ ِذى‬ ‫َق َس ٌم‬ ‫َر ُّب َك بِ َعا ٍد‪ ٦‬إِ َر َم َذا ِت ٱلۡ ِع َمادِ‪ ٧‬ٱلَّتِى‬ ‫لَ ۡم ُيۡخلَ ۡق ِم ۡثلُ َها ف ِى ٱلۡ ِبلَ ٰـ ِد‪َ ٨‬و َث ُمو َد‬ ‫ٱلَّ ِذي َن َجابُواْ ٱل َّص ۡخ َر بِٱلۡ َوا ِد‪َ ٩‬وفِ ۡر َع ۡو َن‬ ‫ذِى ٱل ۡ َأ ۡوتَا ِد‪١٠‬‬ ‫‪3‬‬

‫ٱلَّ ِذي َن َط َغواْ ف ِى ٱلۡ ِبلَ ٰـ ِد‪ ١١‬فَأَ ۡكثَ ُرواْ‬ ‫فِي َها ٱلۡ َف َسا َد‪ ١٢‬فَ َص َّب َع َل ۡي ِه ۡم َر ُّب َك‬ ‫َس ۡو َط َع َذا ٍب‪ ١٣‬إِ َّن َر َّب َك لَ ِبٱلۡ ِم ۡر َصا ِد‪١٤‬‬ ‫فَأَ َّما ٱل ۡ ِإن َس ٰـ ُن إِ َذا َما ٱ ۡب َت َلىٰ ُه َر ُّب ُهۥ‬ ‫فَأَ ۡك َر َم ُهۥ َو َن َّع َم ُهۥ َف َي ُقو ُل َرب ِّ ٓى‬ ‫أَ ۡك َر َم ِن‪َ ١٥‬وأَ َّمآ إِ َذا َما ٱ ۡب َت َلىٰ ُه َف َق َد َر‬ ‫َع َل ۡيهِ رِ ۡز َق ُهۥ َف َي ُقو ُل َرب ِّ ٓى أَ َه ٰـنَ ِن‪َ ١٦‬كلَّا ۖ‬ ‫َول َا‬ ‫ٱلۡ َيتِي َم‪١٧‬‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫تُ ۡكرِ ُمو َن‬ ‫لا‬ ‫بَل‬ ‫َتَحـٰٓ ُّضو َن عَل َ ٰى َط َعا ِم ٱلۡ ِم ۡس ِكي ِن‪١٨‬‬ ‫َوتَأۡ ُك ُلو َن ٱل ُّت َرا َث أَ ۡكلًا لَّ ًّما‪١٩‬‬ ‫‪4‬‬

‫َو ُتحِ ُّبو َن ٱلۡ َما َل ُح ًّبا َجمًّا‪َ ٢٠‬كلَّآ إِ َذا‬ ‫ُد َّك ِت ٱل ۡ َأۡر ُض َد ًّكا َد ًّكا‪َ ٢١‬و َجآ َء َر ُّب َك‬ ‫َوٱلۡ َم َل ُك َص ًّفا َص ًّفا‪َ ٢٢‬و ِجاْ ٓى َء‬ ‫يَ ۡو َمئِى ٍذ ِبجَ َه َّن َم ۚ يَ ۡو َمئِ ٍذ َي َت َذ َّك ُر ٱل ۡ ِإن َس ٰـ ُن‬ ‫َو َأن َّ ٰى لَ ُه ٱل ِّذ ۡك َر ٰى‪َ ٢٣‬ي ُقو ُل يَ ٰـ َل ۡيتَنِى‬ ‫َّ‬ ‫ُي َع ِّذ ُب‬ ‫لا‬ ‫َف َي ۡو َمئِ ٖذ‬ ‫ِلحَ َيات ِى‪٢٤‬‬ ‫َق َّد ۡم ُت‬ ‫َع َذابَ ُه ٓۥ أَ َح ٌد‪َ ٢٥‬ول َا يُوثِ ُق َوثَاقَ ُه ٓۥ‬ ‫أَ َح ‪ٞ‬د‪ ٢٦‬يَـٰٓ َأ َّي ُت َها ٱل َّن ۡف ُس ٱلۡ ُم ۡط َمئِ َّن ُة‪٢٧‬‬ ‫ٱ ۡر ِج ِع ٓى إِل َ ٰى َر ّبِ ِك َرا ِض َي ًة َّم ۡر ِض َّي ٗة‪٢٨‬‬ ‫َفٱ ۡد ُخل ِى ف ِى ِع َب ٰـ ِدى‪َ ٢٩‬وٱ ۡد ُخل ِى َج َّنتِى‪٣٠‬‬ ‫‪5‬‬

‫ سورۃ الفجر‬89 1-4 The Arrangement of The World 6

Verse & Translation V1e-r4se ١ِ‫َوٱ ۡل َف ۡجر‬ By the dawn. ٢‫َولَ َيا ٍل‌‍‏‌ َع ۡش ٍر‬ And the ten nights. ٣‫َوٱل َّش ۡف ِع َوٱلۡ َوتۡ ِر‬ And the even and the odd. ٤‫َوٱلَّ ۡي ِل إِ َذا ي َ ۡس ِر‬ And the night when it passes; Let's Read Together Allah makes an oath on four natural phenomena, which are: the dawn that splits the darkness of night; the nights of ten; the odd and even nights; as well as the movement of night-time that passes by unconsciously. 7













‫ سورۃ الفجر‬89 10 The Fir'awn 14

Verse & Translation Ve10rse ١٠ِ‫َوفِ ۡر َع ۡو َن ذِى ٱل ۡ َأ ۡوتَاد‬ And the Pharaoh, owner of the mighty stakes? Let's Read Together The Fir'awn used to be the King of Egypt. He owned the strongest buildings of all. He ordered his people to build big and mighty monuments. They possessed extremely huge and tall pyramids in Egypt. But now, the Fir'awn is no more. The city that he built is also gone and destroyed. Why did Allah destroy them? Dictionary Mighty: big, large, huge and enormous. Stakes or monuments: a statue, building, or structure built for historical importance. 15

‫ سورۃ الفجر‬89 11-12 Rebellion & Corruption 16

Verse & Translation V11e-r1s2e ١١‫ٱلَّ ِذي َن َط َغواۡ ف ِى ٱلۡ ِبلَ ٰـ ِد‬ All of them were rebellious to Allah in their lands, ١٢‫َفأَ ۡكثَ ُرواۡ فِي َها ٱلۡ َف َسا َد‬ and spread much corruption there. Let's Read Together Allah describes the common behaviour of these three people. They did not obey the commands of Allah. They also did mischiefs and bad deeds in their lands. This is why Allah destroyed them. How did Allah destroy them? Dictionary Rebellious: unwilling to obey rules or accept normal standards of behaviour. Corruption: to be dishonest or do something not allowed by the authority or law. 17

‫ سورۃ الفجر‬89 13 Punishment 18

Verse & Translation Ve13rse ١٣‫َف َص َّب َع َل ۡي ِه ۡم َر ُّب َك َس ۡو َط َع َذا ٍب‬ So, your Lord poured on them a scourge of severe punishment. Let's Read Together Because of the disobedience and the corruption that they have caused in their lands, Allah unleashed on them unimaginable disasters. These disasters are so horrible that nothing was left of them, except for their deformed buildings. Dictionary Scourge: a whip or lash; a fast and great torture of a punishment. Unleash: To release a strong power. Deform: Ugly in shape 19

















‫ سورۃ الفجر‬89 21-23 The Day of Reckoning 28

Verse & Translation 2V1e-r2se3 ٢١‫َكلَّآ إِ َذا ُد َّك ِت ٱل ۡ َأۡر ُض َد ًّكا َد ًّكا‬ Enough! When the Earth is entirely crushed over and over. ٢٢‫َو َجآ َء َر ُّب َك َوٱلۡ َملَ ُك َص ًّفا َص ًّفا‬ And your Lord comes with the angels, rank upon rank. ‫ َذ َّك ُر ٱل ۡ ِإن َس ٰـ ُن‬٢‫ َت‬٣‫َو ِجاْ ٓى َء يَ ۡو َمئِى َوٍذَأن َِّبٰجَى َهلَ َّنُه َمٱۚل ّيَِذ ۡو ۡكَم َرئِ ٍذٰى َي‬ And Hell is brought near on that Day— on that Day man will remember. But what is the use of remembering then? Let's Read Together Allah warns them to not continue behaving that way. The fearful day will come when everything will be crushed like powder. And the angels will be lining up, preparing to receive orders from Allah for judgement. Hell is shown as the punishment while regret at the time is useless. 29

‫‪ 89 24-26‬سورۃ الفجر‬ ‫‪Regret‬‬ ‫‪30‬‬

Verse & Translation 2V4e-r2se6 ٢٤‫َي ُقو ُل يَ ٰـلَ ۡيتَنِى َق َّد ۡم ُت ِلحَ َيات ِى‬ He will cry, “If only I had sent ahead some good deeds for this life to come.” ٢٥‫أَ َح ٌد‬ ‫َع َذابَ ُه ٓۥ‬ ‫ُي َع ِّذ ُب‬ َّ ‫َف َي ۡو َمئِ ٍذ‬ ‫ل‬ On that Day, He will punish severely, like no other. ٢٦‫َول َا يُوثِ ُق َوثَا َق ُه ٓۥ أَ َح ٌد‬ And bind tightly, like no other. Let's Read Together And when all of the horrible scenes are shown, permanent regret will creep in their hearts. Because they know what horrible punishments await them. 31

‫ سورۃ الفجر‬89 27-30 Tranquil Soul 32

Verse & Translation 2V7e-r3se0 ٢٦‫يَـٰٓ َأ َّي ُت َها ٱل َّن ْف ُس ٱلْ ُم ْط َمئِ َّن ُة‬ Allah will say to the righteous: “O tranquil soul!\" ٢٨‫ٱ ۡر ِج ِ ٓع إِ َ ٰل َر ّبِ ِك َرا ِض َي ًة َّم ۡر ِض َّي ًة‬ \"Return to your Lord, well pleased and well pleasing.\" ٢٩‫َفٱ ۡد ُخ ِل ِف ِع َب ٰـ ِدى‬ \"So, join in among My servants.” ٣٠‫َوٱ ۡد ُخ ِل َج َّن ِت‬ \"And enter My Paradise!\" Let's Read Together On the other hand, as for those who submit themselves to Allah, Allah will be pleased with them and they are also pleased to return to Allah. So, let’s serve and and obey Allah so that we will be invited to be among His righteous servants and to enter His Paradise. Dictionary Tranquil: quiet and peaceful; free from disturbance; calm. 33

‫سورۃ الفجر‬ Surah's Summary Surah al-Fajr presents the arguments for the inevitable coming of the Day of Judgment, based on the regularity of the world that points to the existence of its Creator. And that this Creator has installed consistency and justice even in human life. Those who follow in the footsteps of the people of ‘Ad, Thamud, and the Fir'awn, and they love wealth excessively and mistreat the orphans and the poor, these people will be punished with heavy punishments. As for those who have iman and do good deeds, they will be invited into Heaven. ‫سورۃ الفجر‬ Synonyms 1. Oath : pledge, vow. 2. Vigilant : watchful, alert, aware. 3. Mistreat: cruel, abusive, unfair. Lessons 1. Being thankful and grateful to Allah always is the best way to be happy. 2. Allah is always aware of what we do. So, we must always remember Him in everything that we do. 3. People who do not obey Allah and do mischief on Earth will receive grave punishment in the world and in the Hereafter. 35
