UNIT 1 JOB INTERVIEW

What is an interview? ❑ Basically, an interview is a conversation between two people (the interviewer and the interviewee) where questions are asked by the interviewer to obtain information from the interviewee. โดยพ้นื ฐานแลว้ การสมั ภาษณ์เป็นการสนทนาระหวา่ งคนสองคน (ผสู้ มั ภาษณ์และผถู้ ูกสมั ภาษณ์) ซ่ึงผสู้ มั ภาษณ์จะถามคาถามเพอ่ื รับขอ้ มูลจากผใู้ หส้ มั ภาษณ์

Tips and Techniques for Success: Do’s and Don’ts

DO: • Prepare in advance for your interview: know your strengths and learn about the company. • Dress nicely. • Know where are you going, have the address with you and the name of the person you should ask for when you arrive. • Arrive early for your interview (at least 15-30 minutes before). • Turn off your phone. • Be respectful of everyone you meet at the company. • Shake hands, smile and make eye contact.

• Breath and be relaxed. • Show a positive attitude during the interview. • Respond to questions with specific examples. • Be thorough but concise. • Tell the truth and be honest. • Ask good questions/be prepared with at least three questions • After the interview, send a thank you email to the interviewer.

DON’T: • Wear casual, wrinkled, tight or poorly fitting clothes. • Wear lots of jewelry, perfume or cologne. • Arrive late. • Chew gum. • Give false information. • Complain about a prior job, boss or co-worker. • Fidget with pens, clothes or hair

Questions you might be asked at an Interview. 1. Tell me about yourself ? • Start with your name • Give your place information • Education in short • Job experience if any • Tell why are you qualified for the job. Example: Hi, my name is Prex and I live in the Philippines. As far as my educational qualification is concerned that I have done graduation in BSED- English and I have 5 years of experience in teaching. I am really energetic and enthusiastic in teaching.

2. Why should we hire you? • Share your knowledge • Work experience(if any) • Skills related to the job • Career goals Example: Sir, I have a strong work ethic, I am fast learner and very enthusiastic about this company and the job. I believe that my motivation and commitment will ensure that I quickly become productive and valued member of your team.

3. What are your weaknesses? • Straightforward • Sensitive • Impatient • Talkative • I can’t say no when someone asks for help Example: I can’t say NO when someone asks for help, and I am a bit lazy in which I’m Not interested however I am learning to say NO.

4. Do you have any questions for me? Example: • Express thanks Thank you for giving me this opportunity. • Jon timing Sir, I would like to know job timing and • Overtime allowance transport facility and where will be the job • Transport facility location and salary scale for this job in your • Job location organization • Timing period • Salary structure
