In recent years, the term “Orthorexia” has beencoined. Another disease defined.What is the main symptom?Eating too h ealthfully.The other symptoms do indeed border on disorder.But to make us question whether we’re eating t oohealthfully is a cruel tactic of our bitterest enemy.The other eating disorders of anorexia, bulimia,and compulsive overeating exhibit obvious signsof imbalance and are life threatening. But eatinghealthfully? Why is that considered a disease?That’s how we’re s upposed to eat. That’s howwe’re designed to eat.
Healthful was the original diet in the Garden ofEden; it’s the way we’ll be eating in Heaven.By starting now, we can experience a “taste ofHeaven” sooner rather than later.What a privilege!Certainly, if someone’s earthly desire to adopt asuper-healthful diet drives them to unhealthfulbehaviors that begin to control their lives andrisk their lives – similar to the depths of anorexicdeprivation or the purging protocol of bulimia –then what could have been good has becomean obsession.Balance can indeed be ruined through“over-determination.”But strict respect for the human body templeshould not be viewed as a “disease.”
Those who carefully read labels should not belabeled. Those who try to stay healthy by e atinghealthfully are not mentally ill. It’s junk-food, deadanimals, and chemicals that make us ill.So why is eating “too clean” currently consideredan “eating disorder”?Basically, it’s Satan’s Plan B. If he can’t get usto eat b adly, then he wants us to f eel badly(and l ook badly) for eating healthfully!It’s my belief that the devil is livid that, due to thegrowing awareness of the health message, he’slost his grip on millions of people in the area ofappetite – his first and often most effective toolof temptation.God’s enemy doesn’t want God’s children toexperience clean living.Including clean e ating.
He can also keep in his grip those who abusetheir bodies if he can place a bad label uponthose who don’t – those who’ve chosen to treattheir bodies b etter (and thus have minds that areclearer).In making healthful eating look like a horribledisease, he’s hoping that those who’ve recentlyhopped on the healthy bandwagon will “hop off”in horror.His ploy is to make health “advocates” appear toothers (and to themselves) as health “nuts” sothey’ll want to “lighten up” to lose the label.But t his label is one we should joyfully, willinglywear.We mustn’t let the enemy win this war. Ourbodies deserve the best food as the best fuel.Agreeing with it is nothing to be ashamed of.
With the relationship between poor food choicesand serious diseases becoming more obvious,it’s not being “extremist” to wisely choose well.That’s exactly what we have to do to overcomethe downward spiral of the Standard AmericanDiet known as SAD – and sadly considered“normal” eating. What’s thereby considerednormal is far from normal. It’s SAD! It maybe “common” but not “correct.”Again, it’s true that some choices can be takento extreme and border on a serious disorder.But choosing to avoid things like animal products,artificial ingredients, gluten, and GMO foods isactually wise.No one wants to be “labeled.” But many labelsare lies. The “father of lies” knows his time(and our time) is short.Careful eating is far from wrong. Let us never beashamed of doing (and eating) what’s right.
