CLASH WORLD Once upon a time in clearing a magical forest I visited a village where people were full of abilities and powers. It was near to the mountains I saw brown skinned people having hammer in their hand sitting on the back of hog. It seems to me as if they are preparing for wars. The hog riders were intrinsically hammering on the stone and the sound of thumping was very loud. I was visualizing all the things from the shade of the huge wall. It was misplaced there. I haven’t seen that much huge wall. The wall was very huge and tough. It seems like it is totally made up of Titanium. When I took few steps back, I tried to climb up on the tallest tree and was succeeded. I sat on the branch knowing its strength. I was shocked and amazed because I never had faith in wizards. I saw a man throwing fireballs with his hand. There were a lot of people having different abilities. I saw a town hall. It was looking very beautiful but I saw number 10 is written boldly over his head. There were cannon mortals. The village contains a lot of arms. I dare not to enter the village by seeing this. There was a King having a sharp edged sword. He was not like usual humans. He was like giant. He was very tall and strong. He was teaching Barbarian (small version of his) how to attack with sword. I was searching for the creator of the village and found a tiny man with his tool. He was working very hard with all perfections. It was a very sunny day but the worker was not even caring about his physical disabilities. He was working hard. He was constructing a big volumed container. I saw some pink liquid stored in other containers like that he was making. I saw some villagers taking some liquid and were getting energized. There were many more villagers but I dared not to visit them. I turned back and ran from there. Aditya Keshari, Class-XII INDIAN ARMY Indian army needs no introduction. We all have love, respect and admiration for our soldiers and the Indian Army as a whole. As we all know, Indian Army has a long and glorious history. Whenever I think of Indian army I become happy. I feel like we are lucky to have such army of which can really feel proud. Indian armed forces are divided into three parts- Indian Army, Indian Air force and the Indian Navy. Indian Army is the land based unit, while Indian Air Force deals in Air defense and Indian Navy is the naval unit. Our Indian is the second largest in the world with about 1.23 million personnel on active rolls and another 9.6 lakhs in reserves. Indian Army is mainly responsible to protect the country and also rescuing people in case of natural calamities like flood, earthquake etc. The current chief of army staff (CoAS) is General BipinRawat(AS of 2018). As Indian Army is very huge, it is divided into regiments, Rajputana Rifles, Sikh regiment etc. It also has its own intelligence unit known as “Military Intelligence”. Indian Army before independence (under British rule) had participated in World War I and II. After independence it has also fought many full-fledged wars like Kargil War (1999), Bangladesh Liberation (1971), India-Pakistan War (1965), India –China War (1962) and first Kashmir War (1947). Besides these Indian Army has also handled some smaller conflicts like Siachen conflict (1984), Operation Polo (1948), India-China conflict (1967) etc. There is no doubt that our Indian army is one of the best armies in the World. THE DAY I AM NEVER GOING TO FORGET One day I was watching TV and I saw an interview of a girl. In the interview she said that one day, when she was travelling by train, she was thrown of the train by some mischievous boys. She lost her legs on the railway track where she was thrown. Then by some people of the village near Kanpur she was taken to the hospital and then, when she recovered she decided to do mountaineering. But it was not possible as her legs were supported by fake legs by the doctors. But, she was very self determined and she had a belief that she can be a mountaineer instead of fake legs. She struggled a lot and lastly she was able to become a mountaineer and she climbed the Mt. Everest. The name of the girl is Arunima Sinha, a national volleyball player of our country before she was a mountaineer. So, I was really inspired by her. She taught me to be self determined, brave etc. So, I cannot forget that day of my life. Priyanka Kumari Class:-XI THE EVENT THAT CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER In a person’s life there is some turning point. It may be an event or an incident that may have changed their life totally. In my life also, there was a turning point which changed my life totally. It was the day when I had lost my grandfather. In life, he had influenced me a lot. Even he is the idol of my life. He had taught me a lot. Even he is the idol of my life. He had taught me a lot of life lessons which will be helping me in my future. But that day he told me a very life-changing words which touched my heart. The fact was known to me that I will be losing him someday but I had never thought that by leaving this world he would teach me such a big lesson of my life. That day when I went to the hospital, I was very tensed and upset, for I will be losing my grandfather. I don’t know how he used to find the reason of my sadness and tension every time. This time also he understood and called me. By sitting beside him, I felt all me anxieties and worries were gone but still I was sad for losing him. Then he took my hand upon his hand and told me, “Dear, life never stops for anyone. Everyone has been sent up to this world for some reason. And you have been born to fulfill and live your dreams. The one who came, have to leave the world. And now it’s my time to go but you will not cry on my death, instead you will work hard to fulfill your dreams. That will be the biggest success of my life.” Hearing this, I felt speechless because I cannot forget the fact of losing him. Bt those words appeared as magical chants in my life. It was true words spoken by him because whenever in life, I gave up hope, it was his words which brought a new reason to live my life. Everyone has a role model in his life may be a sportsperson, actor, politician etc. But in my life grandfather is my ideal man. I want to be like him motivating, encouraging and a determined person. RELIGION AND POLITICS SHOULD BE MIXEDUP Religion should never be separated from politics. If the rulers are serious about their life. Religion is not what we do in religious place. It is much deeper and involves life and death matter. I believe that firstly every religion says love your fellow human being, this is accepted even by their non-believers. Secondly good is our father and we are his children who expects us to treat everyone as brother and sisters. Finally, we are accountable to nature and to one another as brother and sister. Things brings us to a conclusion. Religion is the way we live our faith that is we are the children of God of love who wants us to treat on another equally in everyday. Politics is the way we help this Religion of love coming to reality. Politicians are expected to facilitate this idea of fraternity which in the Indian Constitution. To make it simple real communism in the positive sense in which God is the heat, love is his path. Unfortunately, cabalistic principles do not go with this of thinking, as self glory is their motto and domination in their path, which is questioned by the religion of love which does not allow the rulers to get richer. By the way ministers mean servants and not a ruler. Their core self is questioned by the true Religion. Therefore they having separated it has been unable to satisfy their conscience. Shashank Dubey Class:-XII THE CAP-SELLER AND THE MONKEYS One day a cap-seller was sleeping under a tree. He had a cap on his head. A box of caps was lying beside him. There were monkeys on the tree. MY DAYS IN THE ABODE OF PEACE –SHANTINEKETAN Mrs Indrani Dash PGT(Eng) Dressed in blue skirt and red cardigan I went to the school Mount Carmel The books seemed heavy and the walls so enclosed To the little heart nothing seemed well. One day I came across the book ‘SHAHAJ PATH’ To learn the rudiments of Bengali The pages unfurled the joys of life The pictures left me in glee. I learned that there is an Ashram Where Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore had resided He expounded that learning was to be amidst nature Otherwise all would be lopsided. I made up my mind to go there I told my Dad fervently I prepared myself heart and soul And one day boarded the train gaily. I cracked the admission test quite easily To find myself admitted My joys knew no bounds, you know Oh how the trees and nature, had us greeted. So soon did I make new friends We spent our days in happiness Friends we shared everything from food to books The joys grew more and no less. In ashram we prepared our own beds 45 We tied our own hair We learnt the lesson of self-reliance When others found their mothers there. Teachers and students we shared a lovely bond We addressed them as ‘Dada and Didi They guided us so gently towards our goal A hand for all-whether strong or really needy.

Our classes were held in open air We devoured the seasons smell We studied the variety of hundred trees standing tall Which most of you can hardly tell. Music, dance, art and craft Gelled with academics Hardly did we miss our parents Nature bewitched us with all her antics. Tagore’s songs and his poetry As if churned out the mysteries of life We felt ourselves tucked at mother nature’s breast When the external world was overwhelmed in worldly strife. Ashram days taught us love Told us what’s grit and determination We pursued what was real excellence And’ marks ‘were not our only mission. The compassion that I learnt amidst nature Triggered my love for literature I understood ‘one may touch the zenith of success But to be humble and grounded, is the best feature.’ I thank my lucky stars Having been a scholar of Shantineketan Life simply would have been incomplete I admit, even if having been a successful woman. 46

CYBERNETICS Before you get surprised and say, “What is Cybernetics?” just hear me out.... Cybernetics is the gathering of advances that procedures and practices expected to ensure systems, PCs, projects and information from assault, harm or unapproved get to. In easy language its nothing but Cybersecurity. Now you will say, “My parents already told me about Internet Safety”. Okay!!! Let’s just discuss some of them. We spend a lot of time on the Internet and get entertained too. There are top four things we absolutely need to know about Internet Safety. Tip 1:- The Internet is foreverrrr...... No joke! Anything we put on the Internet, no matterhow old, could be there into us, if our grandchildren will be googling us. So what should we do? If we are on social media, we should use the privacy settings strictly out there. Tip 2:- Don’t put personal information online..... 73% of teens and 68% of young adults are on social networking sites. Those people roughly half-post personal information online. Don’t do that. Do yourself a favour and ask your friend, “What private information they can see on your sites?” If you are not happy with the answer then just delete or remove it. Tip 3:- Don’t forget about Smartphone Safety.... In an era of smartphones, Cybernetics should extend to your phone too. Specially when it comes to text safety. Remember how our parents used to warn us about taking free candies from strangers? Likewise don’t accept phone calls and texts from unknown numbers even. Tip 4:- Handle hacking intelligently..... Part of being a member of the world wide web(www) is being aware, no matter how careful you are, you can still get hacked. And getting hacked sucks!!!! But it is not the end of the world and there are few important things to do when you get hacked, to ensure your safety. •Change your password and make it unpredictable. •Always go through the 2-steps verifications wherever required. •Backup your files. According to a Cyber Safety report in 2012 the most common password was ‘PASSWORD’ followed by ‘123456’. But we can do better than this. Right?? So, before entering the world of Internet we should be aware of its threats and the preventive measures to go through. Satinath Bandyopadhyay(PGT CS) 47

The Beauty in and around You Beauty of all forms has been a powerful attraction for people of all times. And it is an inborn instinct in human to appreciate beauty. We cherish the beautiful moments in life. Beauty is a combination of qualities that give pleasure to the senses. The imagination helps to revive and relive the happy moments spent in the company of beautiful things. A colorful butterfly, a flower, an insect or leaves of a tree which we all seen for a short duration but its memory lasts for a long time. They leave an impression on the mind of man which later becomes a constant source of joy. The soul gets stirred by the external view of beauty.. We exactly don’t know from when Man has developed an eye for beauty may be from the Stone Age or even before. The earliest cave-paintings depicting animals and trees prove the caveman’s love for beauty though some says it’s a mean of communication or sharing information. Artistic creations are man’s attempts to depict the joy created by beauty. Beautiful objects are a source of inspiration for artists to draw and influences to paint, for poets to compose poetry, for writers / authors to write story by extra ordinary imagination. John Keats was a great lover of beauty. In most of his poems, Keats appreciates different forms of beauty. The dancing daffodils seen by Wordsworth during his travel left a mark in his memory. After four years of that visit, he felt the same delight and he composed a poem on daffodils. 48

Beautiful sights influence the painter to draw the same. His paintings are a poetry of colors which depicts nature as it is on the canvas. A painter always remains in search of a place where he could find any form of beauty whether of nature or human to adorn his canvas with everlasting charm of beauty. The paintings of Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Hogarth, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Nand Lal Bose, M.F Hussain and others are a feast for the eyes and the mind. Even many ornaments and architectures are designed from some nature’s art. This proves that any aspect of beauty leaves and ever-lasting impact on human heart and soul. You must have observed people take a break from their hectic scheduled, move from the jungle of concrete to a sea beach or hill station or a forest for few days in order to refresh their mind and eventually they can perform the task better , more effectively when they return, beautiful objects of nature also uplifts the spirit of pessimist. So the Indian author Dr. Amit Ray says “looking at beauty in the world, is the first step of purifying the mind”. But dear students you need not have to go much far because beauty is everywhere. The existence of beauty does not have a limit. We should learn to see beauty in everything both internally and externally. 49

In the words of famous Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. “If you truly love Nature, you will find beauty everywhere” and that of Albert Einstein \"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.\" Just living is not enough this might be the reason why Shakespeare said “One touch of nature makes the whole world kin” Beauty flourishes in nature. The sunrise, the sunset, the moon, the starts, the rainbow and the seasons delight the senses and your Vidyalaya is no exception to it. The photographs in this article are taken by the author in your school campus is a small evidence of it. You can also find them by keen observation and it’s our duty to maintain this beauty of nature. Excessive use of bio non degradable substances, single use plastics, wrappers of chocolates, cakes, biscuits or chips, bits of paper, will make your campus dirty with such things will lead to loss of this incredible beauty, you are the youth , you have immense potential, you are the future hence it’s your duty to maintain your surrounding clean. Our joint effort will not only keep our Vidyalaya and its surrounding clean but also help us to built a clean and beautiful India. Beauty never dies but we need to maintain it so that it flourishes. Let me sum up with the famous line of John Keats “A thing of beauty is a joy forever”. Gautam Biswas PGT Biology KV Andal. 50
