Textual Study: Reading of Philosophical Texts (4 Credits) Through this guided reading students are introduced to one of the original texts of a well-acclaimed philosopher. Each student has to write a paper of 3-4 pages (1500-2000 words) on the specific text and present the same in his reading group. The prepared paper will carry 60 marks and presentation 40. David P TRAINING PROGRAMS AND EXTENSION LECTURES (TPE) TPE 60. Training for Elocution and Homily (2 credits) To become effective speakers in English and Malayalam, special attention is paid to train the students in the art of Public Speaking. Vernacular academy, which is conducted every week as part of our regular curriculum, gives ample opportunity to sharpen their skill in public speaking. David P TPE 61. Training for Music and Church Choir (2 credits) Liturgical songs both in Malayalam and English are taught in view of celebrating the Liturgy better. Douglas C TPE 62. Training Program on Youth Animation and Ministry to the Children (1 credit) Effectiveness in the ministry among the children is the focus of this workshop. CIPR Handbook & Calendar 2021-22 TPE 63. Training Program on Theatrical Arts (1 credit) This is a workshop and a training program for the students. It aims, first of all, to enrich the students to become mature in their personality which will enable them to be more effective in their public appearance by overcoming their inhibitions and unhealthy fears. Secondly, it will help them to develop drama and related talents. Thirdly, it will be training for the students to conduct such programs for the youth and children. Despite the onslaught of social media on the present generation, stage performances have not lost their value. Street play, role-play, traditional and modern dramas, etc. could bring out the Gospel message very effectively and this course could prepare the students for such a ministry in the future. Training Program on Methods of Prayer and Meditation (1 credit) This program is aimed at introducing various methods of improving the concentration of mind, practice of silence, other requirements for mental prayer and meditation. This is mainly training from the practical point of view rather than theoretical. It is aimed at improving the quality of contemplative prayer of the seminarians. Anil T TPE 65. Examination and Methods of Evaluation 1. Maximum marks allotted for every subject is 100. 2. All the Obligatory Basic Subjects will have a written examination at the end of every semester. The maximum marks for this exam must be 70. 30 marks could be awarded as the Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA), which consists of class tests, assignments, seminars, etc. which could be conducted at the discretion of the course- animator or his/her collaborators, while the course is at run. 3. Examination and evaluation for all other subjects (Supplementary Obligatory Subjects and Optional Additional Subjects) shall be at the discretion of the course-animator or his/her collaborators in consultation with the Prefect of Studies. A written examination at least out of 50 marks or an assignment/project is mandatory for these subjects. 4. The maximum duration of the semester examination (written) shall be 02.30 hrs. 5. The number of questions shall be proportionate to the time allotted for the examination. Students shall get enough time to write the answers. 6. The use of different type of questions are recommended. The type of questions could be objective type, paragraph questions (50 words), short essays (100 words or 200 words), long essay (1000 words), etc. Questions which are only of one type will not be sufficient to evaluate the students. 7.
