In love and favor, You made the holy Shabbat our heritage
Ki hu yom t'chilah l'mikra-ei kodesh, ִּכ י הּוא יֹום ְּת ִח ָּל ה zeicher litziat Mitzrayim. ְל ִמ ְק ָר ֵא י ֹקֶד ׁש Ki vanu vacharta v'otanu kidashta mikol haamim. ֵזֶכר ִל יִצ יַא ת ִמ ְצ ָר ִים V'Shabbat kodsh'cha ִּכ י ָב נּו ָב ַח ְר ָּת b'ahavah uv'ratzon hinchaltanu. Baruch atah, Adonai, ְואֹוָת נּו ִק ַּד ְׁש ָּת ִמ ָּכל ָה ַע ִּמ ים m'kadeish HaShabbat. ְוַׁש ָּב ת ָק ְד ְׁש ָך ְּב ַא ֲה ָב ה ּוְב ָר צֹון ִה ְנַח ְל ָּת נּו ָּב רּוְך ַא ָּת ה ְיָי ְמ ַק ֵּד ׁש ַה ַׁש ָּב ת as a reminder of the work of Creation. As first among our sacred days, it recalls the Exodus from Egypt. You chose us and set us apart from the peoples. In love and favor You have given us Your holy Shabbat as an inheritance. Praise to You, Adonai, who sanctifies Shabbat.
Baruch atah Adonai ָּב רּוְך ַא ָּת ה ְיָי Eloheinu melech ha-olam, ֱא ֹלֵה ינּו ֶמ ֶלְך ָה עֹוָל ם hamotzi lechem min ha’aretz. ַה ּמ ֹוִצ יא ֶלֶח ם ִמ ן ָה ָא ֶר ץ Blessed are You Adonai our God Creator of the Universe who brings forth bread from t he earth.
