1 LETTER TO THE COMMUNITYLORAIN COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY FY 2013 ANNUAL REPORT Dear Friends, As another year has drawn to a close we look back at our efforts during our 25th year. For us, even small successes are reason for celebration. In fact, it’s more about being faithful to our mission than looking at big successes. In Fiscal Year 2013, we placed two families in housing; one family in Vermilion and one family in Lorain. Then we completed the rehabbing of two homes, a two bedroom home in Lorain and a four bedroom home in Elyria. Additionally, we deconstructed five houses in Wellington and Oberlin that were planned for demolition. The recovered materials were then repurposed or sold at our Habitat ReStore. Funds raised from our ReStore enable us to provide additional services. One project funded by our ReStore was the demolition of a dilapidated garage for a disabled homeowner in the city of Lorain. The garage was cited as a nuisance and the gentleman faced incarceration if the problem went unresolved. Though the world is in turbulent times politically, socially, and economically, we keep moving forward with our mission of decent, affordable housing for all people. In the coming year, we hope to raise enough money to serve two more families with two new homes. Truly, without the cooperation and financial support of our faithful donors, volunteers, and sponsors we cease to exist. Habitat everywhere is a family of cooperation. It is through this cooperation that we continue, once again, to be the builders of not just houses, but to someone’s dream. May God bless you and yours abundantly with all things good!
