With the onset of monsoon, and the recurring landslides rural roads have developed cracks, dents and have become slippery making it hard to travel. The government allocates millions of rupees every year for the repair of rural roads. But, the condition of the roads remains the sameFollowing the chnge of government at the center, again confusion has surfaced over thedistribution of housing grants to the earthquake victims.There are rumors and voice of promise of increase of additional 100,000/-npr to the existing200,000/- grant. The process of giving the grants, which was moving at a snail's pace, has now reached banking level in most of the VDCs . NGO's are on hold to make sure that the issue goes along with the Govt. process.
HIGHLIGHTSOn 29th July 2016 thefoundation stone was laidfor the hostel of specialchildren of Janjagriti Schoolin Sangachowk VDC. On 21st July, 15 ECD teachers recieved certificates from NJSI for completing the training program, conducted at Kadichaur, in Sindhupalchwok District. NJSI INTERVENTIONS AND ACTIVITIESSindupalchowkOn 12th July 2016 NJSI visited MahankalVDC Ward No.1 and had meeting inMahankal VDC office, with the local peopleand coordinator of the village as NJSI wasplanning to build the shelter for 73 families inMahankal VDC and on 24th July, 2016 hadfollow up visit to brief the people about thegovernment procedure and their contribution.Ramecchap NJSI organized teachers training from 17th to 21st July 2016, in Khadichaur for ECD teachers of Sindupalchowk to better their efficiency and creativity in the teaching. 15 teachers from different VDC participated in it. 5 k.m. drinking water pipe is being laid for the people of Rakathum VDC . 31 families received tarpaulin as their houses were damaged during earthquake and are still waiting for help.
Dhading 11 boys and 6 girls from Tipling, Sertung and Lapa VDC has joined computer, tailoiring and electoral courses in Don Bosco Institution of Enginerring and Technology at Techo, Lalitpur in the month of July. These children are economically backward and their familes were very heavily afftected by the earthquake last year. This program is part of the livelihood option projects of NJSIThe construction of multipurpose hall in Tipling isgoing on. Thanks to the NepalArmy for transporting themajor part of the CGI sheetsby helicopter, the rest went byroad to Somdang and carriedon head by the people for 28kilometers.Katmandu NJSI had made an assessment to build Gothbhanjyang Higher Secondary School in Dalchowki VDC. Due to bad road the work is yet to start.
