S. in Saurpani,Gorkha are still waiting for enough decentstructures to have undisturbed education.Many such schools with high number ofstudents are not enilsted by NGOs like JAICAand ADB for reconstruction due to fact thatthey the lack enough land according to thecriteria of the organization.The Monsoon has washedaway the approach roadsto many villages, making itimpossible to transport theconstruction materials.The NJSI work in Gorkha ishalted till the rain stops andthe roads are once againmade usableThere were three tractors The bridge across Daraudi river isincluding one of NJSI washed way by the flood, completelycarrying construction cutting off the Surpani VDC from thematerials fell off the cliff main road.and we could get backsome of the materials withthe help of the villagers.

HIGHLIGHTS Fr. Joseph Pulickal, SJ from Kolkota Province has joined the NJSI on 30th May. He is the financial manager and project advisor at NJSI.Sr. Manisha Makwana, SCHSA, has joinedNJSI as full time staff on 8th June. She iscoordinating communication and reportwriting while helping out in assessmentand monitoring at NJSI office.NJSI has obtained permission from National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to construct threehostels for special children who study in the following schools, in Nuwakot District. ShreeChandeshwari Higher Secondary School (Tupche VDC), Shree Bageshwari Higher SecondarySchool (Bageshwari VDC), Bhairavi Higher Secondary School (Bidur Metropolitan).Site for the construction of the hostel at Bhairavi School Special children of Bhairavi SchoolSpecial children of Bageshwari School Site for the construction of the hostel at Bageshwari School requires hectic ground clearanceSite for Chandeshwari School and the visually challenged chidren studying

NJSI INTERVENTIONS AND ACTIVITIESSindupalchowkOn 19th May 2016 at 11 AM. NJSI handedover Kalidevi School at Mankha. On 16thJune, 2016, Kupkanya ECD School inMankha was handed over to the schoolauthority as the repair work was completed. There are 22 students studyingin the school, upto class 3. The NJSI built andgive two class rooms for the school. On 26th June, the students of Shri. Sarvodya School at Gyalthum received uniforms, school bags, stationery and study materials.

KavrepalanchowkThe fencing of the compound of SusthaManasthiti Purna Stapana Kendra,Kharellthok - hostel for special children- is completed.To better the condition of 100 women andgirls of Danuwar community soap trainingwas organized on 15th to 19th May 2016at Jaretar 9, Panchkal Municipality.LalitpurRepairing of Manakamana PrimarySchool, Dalchoki-2, Lalitpur wascompleted and was handed over to theschool authority on 19th June 2016. NJSI team visited Gothbhanjyang higher secondary school on 19th June 2016, to see the possibility of repairing their damaged school builidng. DhadingAs livelihood development programme for thepeople of Tipling VDC, carpentry tools weredistributed to a group of five men in June andplanning is being done for Schools rebuilding.

SindhuliOn 28th June 2016, Fr. Roy Sebastian, SJ(Director),Miss. Anita Gurung (Programme Manager) andSr. Manisha (Communication officer) visitedBhuwaneshwari VDC along with Relief Nepal andCaritas Nepal. This village was affected by fire on9th April 2016. The purpose was the meet the peoplewho were supported by the three organizations .They came up with a request to help them rebuildtheir fire destroyed school. On 29th June 2016, the NJSI team went to Tinkanya VDC to visit Panchawati Lower Secondary School (Tinakanya-7) and Bal Lower Secondary School as semi permeant structure construction work is going on. The meeting with the principal and local people brought out the request for another building with two rooms as the present structures don’t have enough space.Ramechhap In month of June 2016 education material to 67 students was distributed in Ramechhap. They received Bags, note books, pencils, eraser, sharpeners and uniforms. The School toilet construction and the water supply project to the school has been completed. The Students of Ramechhap is still waiting for a roof above their heads as the temporary shed's roof was blown away by the wind.

GorkhaThree more schools namely, Sapta Kanya primary school, Himalaya Higher Secondaryschool, and Siddartha High School, in Surpani, Gorkha, have been completed. Twomore are almost finished. That leaves only two more schools to be completed in Gorkhaamong the 11 schools undertaken by NJSI.
