WORKBOOK The Power Of Habit We Are The Bag Book Club [email protected]

01 Identify Your Habit A habit can be changed if you understand how it works. The core of every habit is Cue + Routine = Reward. If you want to reshape and change your habits for the better there are a few things you can do. Identify the routines that you currently follow and figure out how you can change your routine that is attached to a habit that you don't like. What is a bad habit that you want to stop and how often do you do it? [email protected]

Identify Your Habit Continue to apply what you learned to figure out a habit that you don't like... A cue is a trigger that kicks off the habit. What is your cue for your bad habit? The cue kicks off a craving which is anticipation of the reward. What does the craving feel like? What reward do you want? [email protected]

Experiment With Rewards It's okay to experiment with different rewards until you can isolate what you are actually craving, then you will understand how to make a desired behavior automatic. Is it possible that the reward you want isn't what your routine is getting you? What other rewards could you be you be looking for in your current habit? For example you might crave a certain food but you might not want the actual food...you may just want emotional comfort. [email protected]

Isolating The Cue Isolate the cue that triggers your habit. What is it that signals it's time to do something? There are five types of cues: location, time, your emotional state, other people, or an immediately preceding action. What do you think sparks your habit to occur? Now that you understand your habit loop let's try to rewire it... To review, write down your cue, routine, and reward for a habit you want to change. [email protected]

Develop A New Plan Develop a new plan for what you'll do differently the next time that cue arises. Remember that habits are formulas that your brain automatically follows. When you see a CUE, you do a ROUTINE in order to get to the REWARD... To change your habit, keep the cue and the reward the same and start a new routine. Change A Habit What routine can you replace to get the same reward?

Hey! I'm Kim... None of this was planned. I never intended on starting a book club but I was led to do it. I hope that you enjoy this Workbook that I put together specifically and exclusively for We Are The Bag book club members! I hope that it is as helpful to you as it has been for me. The Workbook is especially great for members who have not had time to start reading the book yet, or maybe started but know they wont be able to finish it. With this Workbook you will still get the main points from the book and you still can execute and apply everything that is in here! Again, I hope that you enjoy!
