Read and REAP (Reinforce and Empower Academic Performance through Reading) Reading difficulties are complex to struggling readers who have trouble decod- ing words to problems in retaining information. Hence, prevention and intervention programs are necessary to strengthen the needs for progress in reading. “Every Child A Reader “(ECARP DO no.18 s.2017), promotes the rights of every Filipino child reader which mandates all schools to develop interventions that will reduce the prevalence of struggling readers in the country. It opens doors for the learners to have an opportunity to gain interest in reading. As a continuing process, Timoteo Paez Elementary School orchestrate a Read and REAP Culminating Activi- ty for the struggling readers in which our charismatic school principal, Mrs. Glenda D. Tabaquirao, initiates the program. Learners from each grade level were classified according to the reading level they achieved through enormous effort. Distribution of rewards such as stuff toys and tokens for the primary and inter- mediate level will be awarded to the learners who have fully shown progress in reading. Rewards has proven to be an effective way to fuel up the drive of the learn- ers to be more habitually engaged in reading. Significantly, the learners feel highly appreciated and validated for their efforts as their good behavior is duly noted. Apparently, TPES teachers have remarkably puts attention in prioritizing the learners’ need to develop genuine love for reading. With their unwavering dedication, the goal to achieve reading proficiency level manifest significant improvement in reading. Teachers play the critical role in student learning and achievement as they serve as the latter’s motivation driver. Read and REAP program is notably a challenging task but a gratifying com- mitment for the teachers. Struggling readers will not only benefit from this program, likewise, it also encourages the teachers, parents, and the learners to successfully achieve zero non-readers in our school in order to accelerate the literacy level of the learners.
