No. 851-0121 Accomplishment Report Division: Pasay School: Timoteo Paez Elementary School No. of Participants: 50 Male: 24 Female: 26 Title of the Intervention/ Initiative: 2019 Summer Reading Intervention Initiatives – Season 3 with a Theme ”Let’s Read To Be Ready.” Brief Description/ Mechanics: In line with the K-12 Program and the goal of making every child a reader, Timoteo Paez Elementary School conducts Summer Reading Intervention Season 3 with a theme “Let’s Read To Be Ready” on April 15 2019 up to May 25, 2019. The Summer Reading Intervention 2019 is an activity designed to provide the learners’ reading and writing opportunities especially those who were significantly marked as non-reader or in frustration level as shown from the result of the PHIL-IRI Post Test in English and Filipino (2019) from each grade level. The pupils identified to be part of the camp are expected to attend regularly in an engaging instructional and hands-on learning experiences. It is the goal of the reading camp to encourage the learners’ to read so they can feel the pleasure of reading, develop enthusiasm in reading and an excellent way of forestalling reading loss to children whose retentive memory has not yet been fully developed. Summer Reading Intervention is also an opportunity for the learners to further their experience to boost their self- confidence and learn to work cooperatively with others. This is a Six-week activity with a minimum of four days instruction per week and five hours of instruction per day. Marungko Method and Fuller Technique are the materials used which enable the learners a broader knowledge in vocabulary and a simple sense of comprehension through reading stories. Power point presentation is also used
to present the lessons. Worksheets further enhance the lessons for check-up activity and evaluation. Expected Impact: It is expected that the learners develop positive attitude towards reading and demonstrate a significant increase in reading proficiency level. GLENDA D. TABAQUIRAO Principal IV DR.
