II. OBJECTIVES: The school Remedial Reading Program aims to: 1. Lessen if not irradicate struggling pupils into improving its reading level 2. Develop reading proficiency, vocabulary and comprehension. 3. Encourage a sense of personal responsibility for one’s own progress. 4. Develop love for reading
III. PROCEDURE : Each session were composed of 15 pupils from Grade III and Grade II. There were two ses- sions where each class were met at two different hours: 9:30 - 10:30 for the 1st session and 10:30 - 11:30 for the 2nd session in the morning and 2:00 – 3:00 for the 1st session and 3:00 – 4:00 for the 2nd session in the afternoon on a daily basis. Powerpoint presentations thru a Marungko reading technique, Metacards of letters, sylla- bles and words, Batayang Talasalitaan and Developing Reading Power were the materials used by the teachers to enhanced the reading skills of the learners. Pupils were tasked to read altogether at first. Thereafter, they wiould undergo peer reading, followed with individual read aloud. Remedial teacher also used mini story books told stories and tackled what the story was all about through a series of questions and peer discussion. Teacher also presented videos about reading and teaching them how to read with associ- ated song and dance. The teacher would make sure that each pupil could read letters, sound letters, read sylla- bles, read words preferably Batayang Talasalitaan and different simple stories using big books. They will also be asked of simple questions from the stories they will read to check their compre- hensions. IV.RECOMMENDATION: Based on the results that were collected from School Year 2018-2019, We, therefore recommend that Remedial Reading was indeed significant to upgrade the reading abilities of pupils. After the teacher noticed that there were some pupils were logged behind or had reading difficulty rather. An immediate response of the teacher to help and lift the reading skills of the pupils must be done in the first quarter after getting the result of pre-test in their reading ability skills or in Phil-iri. These may include in developing their letters, sounds and word recognition, phrases and sentences reading ability and comprehension. As we observed all teachers were abrupt in our reactions regarding on this matter and that the results of the pupils reading ability skills were lessened.
