CHAIRMANS WELCOME / CROESO’R CADEIRYDD President Good afternoon, we extend a warm welcome to Colwyn Bay RFC for Dai Davies our second home game of the season in the WRU Admiral North 2 League. Chairman James Holloway After a disappointing home performance against Welshpool, our lads travelled to Shotton Steel for their next game and even though they [email protected] didn’t come away with a win, they put in a very good performance against a strong Shotton Steel outfit. Colwyn Bay have had some good Secretary results so far this season and today will be another tough examination Neil Farrington for our young team. The club has a very bright future with this group of players, with no relegation or promotion this season we have the op- [email protected] portunity to let them develop as a team. Treasurer Congratulations goes to our Youth team who have been confirmed as Michelle Jones winners of the North Wales Shield after their convincing win over Den- bigh, this is a great effort by the squad after a very difficult and disjoint- [email protected] ed season. It is very encouraging to see so many talented young men and ladies coming through our junior set up at Newtown, well done to Vice Chairman all our players, parents and coaches. Bob Jones On behalf of Ponthafren and the players who raised money for men’s [email protected] mental health in November, can I say thank you to everyone who sup- ported the event and donated to such a good cause. Today we are very Clubhouse/Community pleased to welcome Andrew Coppin to the club, Andrew has taken it Alan Owen upon himself to set up a ‘walk and talk group’ in Newtown, they meet at the Back Lane Car Park every Friday at 7pm, we are very pleased to [email protected] offer Andrew our support and welcome him to the club this afternoon. Head of Rugby As I write this welcome, the future around COVID regulations is very Gavin Randell uncertain, however we can only hope and plan for the best and see what happens. [email protected] We have a lot of events planned for the rest of the season, today we Fixtures Secretary are holding our Christmas party after the game and coming up is the Derek Murray revised date for our 80’s & 90’s Legends Reunion’, which is now planned for Saturday 15th January. It promises to be a great day, we [email protected] hope to see as many past legends, family & friends at the event as pos- sible. All that remains for me to say is enjoy the game, be vocal and cheer your heads off every time we go forward! Merry Christmas and safe journey home from us all at Newtown Rug- by Club. James Holloway, Chairman

LETTER TO CLUBS - POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR It has been a month since we started our National League programme and it is important for me to thank you all for your contribution to the Game and your valued contribution towards ensuring that our Game thrives again – many thanks. Equally, it is important to remind everyone about the importance of adhering to the published Codes of Conduct at all times. As such, I wish to raise some points with you all and ask for your support in making sure our people are enjoying our fantastic game and having fun and are safe. Please can we promote our fantastic values of friendship, sportsmanship, respect to name but a few – Positive Behaviour. MATCH OFFICIALS, TOUCHLINE BEHAVIOUR AND CONDUCT PREJUDICIAL TO THE GAME We cannot allow our standards to be eroded in this area. It must be recognised that poor behaviour will have a detrimental impact on recruitment and retention of match officials, players and also could have a negative impact on people joining our great game as we seek to grow and evolve. We all have a duty and a responsibility to everyone involved in the game to provide a safe environment for all. I would like to ask you to especially support our referees who, like many volunteers, give up their time to officiate at matches. There is a realistic prospect that poor behaviour will deter match officials from at- tending our Clubs and from officiating at games. Those officials must be protected and the Rugby com- munity must understand that any abuse of officials will be met with severe sanctions both to the Clubs and players. Clubs, their members and players have a responsibility to ensure any behaviour of this sort is removed and eradicated from the game. Please manage your touchline and please educate your coaches, officials and players at all levels of the Game. By way of this notification, the WRU Discipline Committee are placing Clubs on notice that any behaviour and conduct prejudicial to the Game, any behaviour which is deemed detrimental to providing a safe envi- ronment for Match Officials, will be sanctioned with the utmost severity. We urge you all to consider our values and work together to promote good sportsmanship and the values of our game. Similarly, you all have a duty to create and sustain a safe and positive environment for all involved in the Game. Club Officials are wholly responsible for the safety of Match Officials during their time at the Club and must ensure measures are in place to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for the MO to con- duct his/her duties. I would like to close by thanking you all for your continued support. Our clubs are the lifeblood of the game in Wales and the hard work that goes into clubs the length and breadth of Wales does not go unrecog- nised. My appeal is that we should not let the poor behaviour of a minority jeopardise the future of our game. Thanks again for all that you do. Yours sincerely, Geraint John, WRU Community Director
