LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal I. INTRODUCTION Guided by the Core Values of Communion, Service, and Excellence, Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School Basic Education—Kindergarten, Grade School, Junior High School, and Senior High School- continues to commit itself to the school’s vision of being a Ruizian Catholic educational institution of servant leaders who live Faith, Hope, and Love in communion. By providing a Relevant, Innovative, and Safe Education with the cooperation of all members of the Ruizian learning community (students, teachers, and parents), we shall RISE amidst disruptions. It remains our mission to work toward a holistic formation by building character, empowering minds, and shaping ideals through a Catholic education that is centered on JESUS CHRIST in the Eucharist and modeled on the BLESSED VIRGIN MARY and our patron saint, LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA. The COVID 19 pandemic has literally turned the world on its head. It is not just a major health care problem affecting countries worldwide but it has severely impacted most sectors of our society. It has, in fact, intensified the kind of world we live in – more volatile, more uncertain, more complex, and more ambiguous. People from all walks of life are severely affected. We incessantly hear the term “new normal” in reference to the emergent way of life characterized by social distancing, attention to hygiene, and a shift to remote modes of interaction. We have no choice but to adhere to the preventive measures imposed as we go on with our daily lives. Undoubtedly, this pandemic has changed the educational landscape particularly in terms of the teaching and learning delivery. Yet, as educators would say, despite all these challenges, learning does not and should not stop. Among social institutions that are trusted and expected to continue to provide service that is founded on integrity and sincerity, educational institutions like Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School (LRMS) have cautiously taken steps in reforming and re-designing how instruction will be delivered in spite of all the current constraints. Commitment to the mission of guaranteeing student learning and achievement is key. LORENZORISE Page 1 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal Hence, inspired and guided by the vision of its founder, Mrs. Lydia Cuevas Vicente, LRMS assures its stakeholders that the school remains determined in sustaining its identity and dignity as the first Filipino lay-directed school to be recognized as a Catholic school in the area of Rizal. At the forefront of instruction, spiritual and religious formation remains. In coming up with a doable and practical learning continuity plan, three things have been agreed upon to be the crux of the school’s decisions and guide its work: 1. That students matter most; 2. That learning must continue to be equitable and accessible; 3. That a more intensive focus on managing and monitoring student learning is to be effected. With these in place, the school administrators and teaching force have been preparing for the shift from the traditional to remote learning through online orientation and training meetings, webinars, research and compilation of supplementary online teaching materials, and practice in the use of the varied online learning tools. This school primer, which contains the learning continuity plan, provides guidelines to present how Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School will continue to offer quality education through remote learning , and to help clarify roles and responsibilities of stakeholders as together we prepare for another challenging school year. LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal II. DEFINITION OF TERMS To fully understand the Academic Program for SY 2020-2021, here are the terms that will be frequently used: Online learning is fundamentally teaching and learning that takes place over the internet. In-person or Face-to-Face is the traditional classroom set-up where students attend classes in a physical classroom. Hybrid Learning Mode is a form of learning which is a combination of face-to-face or in-person and online or remote activities which can be synchronous and asynchronous. Modified Hybrid Learning Mode has the features of a hybrid type minus the face-to-face. Synchronous Learning refers to any activity that is scheduled to happen online at an exact time that has been scheduled or announced earlier. The teacher facilitates a class in real time to explain concepts or demonstrate skills. Students interact with the teacher and classmates online through video conferencing using the Learning Management System. Asynchronous Learning refers to any activity that is assigned to students at different times to allow flexibility in terms of the learning pace of students, availability of gadgets (if shared with other people), studying/working time (if a student needs to be assisted by parents who have their own busy schedules), strength of available Internet connection, etc. Students access learning materials, practice skills through assigned online exercises, watch recorded lecture videos, or accomplish tasks at his/her own pace. Learning Management System (LMS) refers to the software application that houses the students’ online courses and facilitates interaction between student and teacher. LORENZORISE Page 4 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal Through the LMS, students access courses, materials, announcements, resources, lessons, links and other online tools. III. Features of Lorenzo “RISE” Relevant, Innovative, and Safe Education Premised on the meaning of formal education that is structured, Lorenzo RISE is a kind of transformative experience where the goals and objectives are well-defined and are simultaneously aligned to the Department of Education K-12 Curriculum and the Vision, Mission, and Goals of Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School. Being well-planned, it culminates into the learner’s achieving knowledge, facts, skills, character formation, and cultural values. It is characterized as being RELEVANT, INNOVATIVE, and SAFE: RELEVANT For learning to be meaningful, it has to be real, relatable, and relevant. Students learn things that have an impact on them in their daily, ordinary lives. Their interests are piqued when they can identify or relate with the learning activities. When they can connect to their learning and are in control of it, they find relevance in what they are doing. Online learning is the most practical and socially applicable solution to how student learning can be sustained amidst the pandemic. In consideration of the anticipated difficulties, the Department of Education decongested the prescribed curriculum competencies to what is now referred to as the “Most Essential Learning Competencies” (MELCs). Despite shorter class periods, LRMS ensures that these essential content and skills will be taken up within the school year. Performance of authentic tasks and infusion of real-life experiences in varied subjects will be the focus of learning. The “new normal” calls for changes in the educational spectrum and delivery. Hence, it is important to understand that online learning cannot recreate learning in a traditional classroom. The focus now will LORENZORISE Page 5 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal be on the student’s learning time, rather than the student’s contact time with the teacher. Learning time refers to the projected time that a student needs to be “on task” in order to acquire the learning outcomes for a particular course or program. These tasks may include listening to a live or prerecorded lecture, reading reference material, participating in a discussion (whether synchronously or asynchronously, working on an individual task, interacting with peers for a group project, or taking an assessment. The teaching and learning modalities are made more relevant with their alignment with the school’s core values: 1. Communion - strengthened through the various virtual collaborative activities integrated in all learning activities; 2. Service - manifested through the personal teaching-learning approaches that teachers employ in consideration of the students’ abilities and needs; 3. Excellence - permeated through the whole curriculum- instruction- assessment spectrum with the regular refinement of learning modules designed/developed (both curative and creative), the continuous training of teachers, and the upholding of scholastic integrity. INNOVATIVE Lorenzo is adopting the Modified Hybrid Learning Mode (Online Distance Learning/ODL) at the start of classes on August 24, 2020. In this modality, lectures, discussions, and individual or group activities will be delivered via the internet. It will use both synchronous and asynchronous lesson delivery. The modified hybrid will continue to be adopted until such time that in-person (f2f) classes will be allowed by the government with the observance of the minimum health standards imposed by the IATF and DOH. The school then, upon approval of its Board of Trustees, may gradually transition to Hybrid Learning Mode (Combination of F2F and ODL). Parents, however, are given the option to continue with the modified hybrid or to adopt the hybrid mode. LORENZORISE Page 6 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal In this new modality, technology serves as the driving force and instrument of innovation. The disruption, evolution, and revolution radically change the whole education field – the way teachers teach and the way students learn. The systemic change transforms the structure, format & methods of teaching and learning. Yet above all these transformations in quality and productivity, transformation in moral development which prepares the young people for life, work, and citizenship (Camins, 2015), remains to be the core. The school embraces a technology “with a heart”. LRMS realizes that teachers face new challenges with students whose lives are dominated by technology. Many traditional teaching methods fail to capture the interest of these upcoming “technocitizens” or to provide them the skills needed for the 21st century and beyond. To equip teachers, they are trained on how to effectively use technology in their instruction; to go beyond the walls of a traditional classroom and create student-centered lessons aligned with the national and school standards as well as 21st Century Skills. With technology, faith formation rises to a new level with a “catechetically gamified program that is solidly Catholic, kid-friendly, and engagingly fun” which the grade schoolers will experience in God’s Park. Aside from enhancing their computer skills and online teaching skills, they are also trained in implementing the reading and comprehension skills development lessons under the PRIME English Program. Part of the school’s “going beyond what it is regularly doing” is offering extra-service. If a student experiences no or very limited access to the internet, he/she or his/her parents will only have to promptly notify the school so that arrangements can be made to send or pick up learning packets that are printed or are readily printable from the school. This option may be retained upon the parent’s/guardian’s written request even when F2F learning will be allowed within this school year. Whenever classes are suspended, the modified hybrid learning mode will be in use; hence, continuity of learning is assured. LORENZORISE Page 7 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal SAFE A school must be safe. Creating this condition requires thoughtful and constant attention to the security and safety of the facilities; creation of clear policies and procedures for student and staff conduct; frequent and effective communication with parents, families, and the school community; and attention to classroom management as well as the requisite professional development. Without these conditions in place, learning cannot become a school's focus. Every student needs and deserves to feel respected and free from physical harm, intimidation, harassment, and bullying. To ensure a safe learning environment, leaders attend to all aspects of daily life in schools (ascd.org). RISE includes provisions for privacy and child protection. The Data Privacy Policy, Social Media Policy, and Child Protection Policy will continue to be observed. An Academic Integrity Policy has also been created. “When deemed necessary, synchronous sessions will be recorded for security and future reference if necessary. Student personal data, images, and classwork including videos, will only be collected for official school or academic purposes. Moreover, submission of such materials will only be done through official platforms determined by the school. The school will comply with age requirements and ensure appropriateness of apps that will be used by the students.” (XSSJ 2020) Here in Lorenzo, we are confident that we provide a safe learning environment by building a strong foundation for our students’ spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. During these times, however, when children are confined at home, despite the parents’ presence, they may be exposed to too many distractions in the different forms of media that result in negativity, fear, and anxiety. More than ever, they need to be kept grounded on positive values. This need serves as a call for us, adults, to be more mindful of our children. Lorenzo believes that maintaining social interaction with teachers and peers through an online learning delivery mode is the LORENZORISE Page 8 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal best approach. Above all, we need to continue building on the solid Christian Living Education (CLE) and Character-building Programs that have already molded them into the God-loving Ruizians that they are today. IV. EXPECTATIONS Today, more than ever, calls for a strengthening of relationships among stakeholders – the school and its teachers, the parents/guardians, the students. With the educational landscape continuously shifting and evolving, our shared goal at this time is to ensure the continuity of learning. It is at this moment when cooperation, coordination, support, and the willingness to take chances count most. To level our expectations, allow us to get down to brass tacks: RISE does not aim to replicate the structure of the usual face- to-face classes but students will still be provided with a predictable routine that is similar to what they are familiar with to give them a semblance of normalcy in the midst of the extraordinary situation. RISE classes will feature a fixed daily schedule per grade level. Each school day will be composed of both synchronous and asynchronous activities. The academic classes are scheduled in consideration of the developmental capacity of the students, their essential competencies, and life skills. Sessions are well-spaced, with sufficient break times, to make learning manageable for students. The first few days of RISE online classes will be spent on practicing routines and discussion of expectations and responsibilities. LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal In the Grade School (Kinder to Grade 6), where parent assistance is required, online orientation meetings will be held for a walk-through of the LMS and to discuss important aspects of the learning delivery mode. In the High School, parents and students will also be given a walk-through of the LMS. The same platform/ learning management system will be used by the students and the teachers across subjects and year levels for both communication and instruction. Teachers have the discretion to create and maintain a group chat room with students and parents for communication purposes but these should be done within set parameters. The School Administration will… develop an operational plan or initiative within the school’s development plan to use technology in teaching and learning and supervise its implementation including the assurance of academic integrity during online learning and assessment activities; inform students about their rights and responsibilities; ensure the quality of the activities and educational materials provided to students in the virtual school; coordinate with the technical support team to solve and avoid any technical issues that may disrupt distance learning; monitor the impact of training on teachers and their readiness for modified hybrid/hybrid learning; monitor the absence and tardiness of teachers and students during class periods; and conduct teacher/ student / parent surveys on the quality of the teaching-learning delivery mode for the purpose of improvement plans. LORENZORISE Page 10 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal The Teacher will… communicate expectations to students and families about the instructional plan for the week, including learning objectives, required activities, assignments, links to resources, and assessments, along with any associated due dates; during designated synchronous session, interact with students to deliver lessons, facilitate discussion, and lead other instructional activities; during the asynchronous learning block, be on-call or on-demand for possible questions or clarifications from students; archive lessons and other instructional activities for students to access later; utilize agreed-upon communication plan determined by the school daily (Monday thru Friday) to interact with groups of students and families, account for attendance, and respond to messages from students and families in a timely fashion; for any student that is not engaging, follow up with the school protocol to determine the cause for intervention to be done; monitor student participation in activities, grade assignments and assessments, provide timely feedback on work submitted by students and communicate with families about student progress; for students who need additional support or enrichment, identify appropriate activities and assignments to the greatest extent possible. LORENZORISE Page 11 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal Parents will… help students download materials, navigate the learning management system, pick up print materials & ensure students have basic school supplies (especially in the lower grade levels); maintain a “classhome” schedule (to be provided by school) and make sure students have a quiet place to learn that is free from distraction; check daily to make sure students understand and complete the assigned learning tasks; monitor the student’s daily activities and progress; ensure the student's overall good appearance during lessons; make sure that the student observes waking hours just like in a regular school day as well as the night bedtime hours for enough sleep; set-up a dedicated workspace for online learning; follow a schedule that is based on their needs; make sure that the student completes his/her academic work as best as possible, and promote regular exercise and proper hygiene habits for health and wellness. promptly inform the class adviser if they are experiencing issues such as the following: • The household does not have access to any computer device or WiFi; • The student has technical difficulties or questions related to hardware and software platforms, or • The student is unable to engage in digital work due to sickness or power/internet disruption. LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal *For younger children (PK to G3), adult supervision is necessary in terms of helping students establish a routine, advance lesson objectives, & perform simple troubleshooting Students will… understand that the sessions are given to develop readiness for this new mode of learning; participate in check-ins, discussions, and other communication mechanisms as expected by the teacher; willingly go through the prepared lessons in order for them to develop the necessary levels of technology literacy & digital citizenship; establish a routine and maintain rapport with teachers; complete assignments and instructional activities assigned by teachers within the expected timelines with academic integrity & honorable conduct; proactively notify their teacher or a school administrator school with any concerns about progress or additional support needed; and LORENZORISE Page 13 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal adhere to their school’s contract for appropriate behavior on web enabled devices. V. ONLINE ACADEMIC PROGRAM CONTENT. The course content is streamlined to cover most essential learning competencies and relevant life skills (based on DepEd’s Most Essential Learning Competencies/MELCs) that respond to the needs and context of the students. Students will be taught to critically reflect on their experiences and lead them beyond “merely knowing” toward action with purpose and impact. Despite the shift to the online delivery system and shorter class period, the adoption of the Department of Education’s MELCs will ensure that the essential learning areas will be covered within the school year. DELIVERY. The delivery of learning experiences will be in the form of learning modules embedded in the school’s Learning Management System (LMS). Preschool, Primary, and Intermediate students will still use physical books as part of the learning package as a source of enrichment and reinforcement to the interactive contents contained in the LMS. This is to calm their fears of lagging behind when the internet connection is poor or unavailable. This also assures their LORENZORISE Page 14 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal continued development in writing down their thoughts and continued improvement in handwriting. To balance and maximize students’ time, effort, and learning opportunities, integration of content and assessments across disciplines will be employed. Constant and consistent feedback from subject teachers will be provided as necessary support in the attainment of learning goals. ASSESSMENT & GRADING Fair and objective assessment of student performance will be through formative and summative tests, and authentic, project-based and performance tasks. Objective tests embedded in the learning modules in the LMS are automatically checked. During the online mode of delivery, summative tests will take the form of performance-based authentic assessments. Academic marks to serve as evidence of learning will be based on the grading system prescribed by DepEd; hence, the use of the tri- components (written works, performance tasks, periodical examinations) will still be utilized. Grading policies will be communicated to students and their parents at the beginning of the school year during orientation. In Senior High School, because of its current structure and reduced student workload, the preliminary grade will be simplified and take a descriptive form – High Performing (the student has displayed high to exceptional level of analysis and understanding of concepts, strong evidence of mastery of key knowledge and skills, very good quality of work); Performing (the student has displayed adequate understanding of concepts, sufficient evidence of mastery of key knowledge & skills, quality of work meets standards); and Needs Improvement (the student displays almost no understanding of ideas, poor quality of work, limited to no evidence of mastery). LORENZORISE Page 15 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal Aside from academic competence, equally important are discipline and values formation. For the Conduct grade, to be emphasized will be the student’s online behavior, digital citizenship skills, quality of work, consistency in performing assigned tasks, and disposition such as respect, netiquette, academic integrity. THE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM For School Year 2020-2021, Lorenzo partners with TechFactors in the use of TekTeach, an online learning platform where students and teachers interact daily. This flexible platform enables the teachers to create learning experiences for students wherever they are – at home, in school, or wherever they need to be. Microsoft Teams will be the main communication and collaboration platform to be used. Teachers, however, may opt to use other platforms for web-based conferencing such as Zoom, Google Meet, Messenger Room, etc. to be done outside of the LMS and only when necessary. RECOGNITION OF OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE After every Trimester, students who have shown diligence and excellence in their work will be recognized. Like in the old normal, certificates for academic excellence, subject achievement, and conduct will be given ACADEMIC INTEGRITY POLICY Ruizians are molded to be God-loving and God-fearing individuals. As such, the school puts premium on the values of honor and respect. In all their online learning activities (Synchronous & Asynchronous), they are expected to demonstrate academic integrity. Students will complete coursework and participate in classes/lessons with honesty by the following: • never sharing login information (LIS-number, LMS log-in credentials); • always submitting original coursework (do not plagiarize); • not receiving unauthorized assistance with coursework; • giving credit to others in coursework when appropriate to do so. LORENZORISE Page 16 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal The following statement shall be electronically signed and confirmed by each student and parent/guardian before regular modified hybrid or online classes commence. \"I certify that all work turned-in this school year are entirely my own and will not violate the Academic Integrity Policy of Lorenzo Ruiz de Manila School. I am aware that there are corresponding sanctions to any and all forms of violations regarding this policy.\" SAMPLE CLASS SCHEDULES As stated in Department Order # 007, s. 2020, schools have to comply with the 203 school days despite the compressed school year. Department Secretary Briones allowed the use of Saturday as a class day or a day intended for curricular or extra-curricular activities. In Lorenzo, Saturday will primarily be the time for extension of transference of learning into action. Other school activities like sponsored webinars, PTC, colloquia, virtual field trips, and the like may also be scheduled on this day. Saturday, therefore, is counted as a school day. Since students work best when they are provided with a predictable learning environment supported by routines to help them focus and manage their tasks efficiently and effectively, the class schedules are so designed to give consideration to their attention span, amount of screen time, and the unique needs and concerns of their varying ages. COMPONENTS OF A WEEKLY SCHEDULE Check-in Time – This is a daily activity done at the beginning of each class day. It includes morning prayers, singing of the national anthem, reflection, monitoring of student’s wellness, physical exercise, etc. which are meant to establish connection, and build rapport and trust. Learning Block – This is the actual instructional time of a subject or course. Lesson delivery may be synchronous through web- based/video conferencing which is instructor-led and is given for a maximum of 30 minutes; or asynchronous where students do their assigned tasks for the day independently. LORENZORISE Page 17 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION
LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal Club Time – Meeting in interest clubs will be done twice a month. Each session lasts for an hour. Homeroom Period – Students will continue to be grouped into sections with an assigned class adviser who monitors the students’ academic performance and well-being. This is the time when students can interact, although virtually, with each other in a less formal setting. Formation Period – Every week, there is an opportunity for the students to be immersed in spiritual exercises or accompaniment, or be involved in guidance activities specially designed by the life coaches. Consultation/Teacher’s Office Hours- Teachers will be available for consultation or conference on a designated time. This time may be initiated by the teacher, the student, or the parent by appointment. This time may also be used by the Life Coaches, the Prefect of Studies, or the Prefect of Student Affairs to confer with students Transfer of Learning into Action – Students may continue to engage in self-paced learning, work on assignments, do research , etc. on the Saturday of each week. A CLASS SCHEDULE MAY LOOK LIKE THIS: LORENZORISE Page 18 of 35 A Primer on Ruizian Education for Academic Year 2020-2021 INNOVATION AMIDST DISRUPTION

LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal In case the Hybrid Mode of Learning Delivery will be finally adopted, the following are to be implemented: 1. Based on DepEd guidelines, there shall be a maximum of 15-20 learners in each classroom in compliance with the social distancing measures. 2. Two options may be considered by the school: (a) The class will be divided into two (in case there are more than 20 learners in a section) with a master teacher and an assistant; (b) Half of the class does in-person learning while the other half is in a virtual classroom. 3. Still following the I/ATF & DepEd guidelines, the number of students coming to school at a time will be limited. For instance, only three levels will report to school for the first week while the rest will do online classes. Class schedule will be similar to the regular class schedule during the old normal. ONLINE FORMATION PROGRAM SPIRITUAL FORMATION As LRMS is a Catholic school, the spiritual formation experiences of its students remain at the forefront of its educational program. The practice of integrating religious values in the daily lessons will continue. Opportunities that foster their relationship with God will be designed and delivered through online platforms. These include daily online Masses, other school-wide Masses for special feasts and occasions, formation modules on prayer and spirituality, recollections, and daily prayers. And because faith experiences are more meaningful when shared with others, it is hoped that our parents/guardians equally participate in these faith experiences along with their children. SPIRITUAL ACCOMPANIMENT In the absence of off-campus outreach and immersion activities, our commitment to forming persons-for-and-with-others in these challenging times will not take a backseat. The Christian Living Center will design and provide online service-learning activities for social awareness and involvement; and, for servant leadership development within the formation sessions. LORENZO RUIZ DE MANILA SCHOOL Phase 1, Vista Verde Executive Village Cainta, Rizal GUIDANCE SERVICES THROUGH THE STUDENT DEVELOPMENT CENTER These challenging times for our young learners call for keen attention not only to their physical well-being but more importantly to their mental and emotional health. Consultation for all students during academic days will be available Routine interviews will be conducted to check on the emotional and psychological well-being of students. Regular guidance programs like the monthly RHGP and trimestral Group Guidance will continue to be part of the students’ school experiences. STUDENT ACTIVITIES Lorenzo prides itself in producing well-rounded students. Using the online mode of delivery, students will continue enjoying fun activities through - synchronous and/or asynchronous interest club activities; - servant leadership development activities led by the Student Government; and - other online community and environment awareness activities to be initiated by the Christian Life Center. CODE OF DISCIPLINE. While the Student Handbook still serves as a guide for students’ academic and deportment performance, certain areas may be adjusted to suit the online learning set-up. As students engage in online learning activities, the school must instill discipline, demand good character, and oversee their growth as responsible, honest, and respectable persons. Feedback opportunities will be readily available to the parents and guardians to help the school and the home achieve the academic objectives. Using the template provided, LRMS came up with its own assessment and was able to produce a report on the various areas of concern with an accompanying contingency plan. With that report as basis, the school prepared its own School Readiness and Recovery Plan which contain among others a detailed description of the system of reviewing and evaluating the accomplishment of the different action steps and achieving the intervention through various monitoring schemes. SCHOOL COMMUNICATION AND CONTACT Communication is vital between home and school that work together for the positive development of the learner. Each has a role to play which could not be taken by both but only by either but the two needs to complement each other. Where there is a problem or unsolved issue in the learner’s studies, this must be resolved altogether. What the school can provide as a means of solving a conflict is always welcomed by the school. In the same manner, the home can always provide information which can be helpful for the school to assist the learner. The goal is to build trust and strengthen the established partnership. To ensure effective communication among the members of the Ruizian community, the following means will be used: telephone and video calling, text messaging, e-mail, web-conferencing, social media (Facebook), and school website.
