Jim Manley Activities I retired from Lockheed Martin as a Senior Fellow and Chief IT Infrastructure Architect at the end of 2016 and went right back to “work” as a control systems engineer at the Firestone & Robertson Distilling Company in 2017. Growing up on a ranch in Montana, I rode a motorcycle to get around during the summer growing season. I continued to ride until I graduated from college when marriage, kids and other things took priority. I started back with a vengeance in July of last year when I bought my first Harley-Davidson. Riding has developed into my third passion, alongside collecting whisky and shooting. I am looking forward to working as the Activities officer for the chapter and building on what Michele accomplished in 2019. If you have ideas about ride destinations or other activities, please let me know. Jimmie Martin HEAD ROAD CAPTAIN Hello Chapter Members, As Head Road Captain I would like to address the Road Captain Program. There is satisfaction in knowing that you are taking part in a program responsible for protecting your fellow chapter members out on a ride and bringing them back safely. Our training program is one that other HOG chapters have copied and continue to use as their own. Completion can take at least 6 months and sometimes longer depending on various factors. Training is done on a case by case basis. All Road Captains assist in the training program with individual input to the candidate. As road captains, we pre-ride proposed routes for safety reasons, for example - recent road construction which might cause us to change the originally scheduled route. We also participate in training rides in which only Road Captains participate. Those rides provide extra and ongoing training, since there are always new and different things to learn from each other. Being so enthusiastic about this program, I wanted to let everyone know as much as possible about what we have built and continue to build on every day. If anyone is interested in this program, please talk to me at any ride or event and I will be more than happy to discuss the program one on one with you.We are always looking for good candidates for Road Captains.
