OUR EXPERIENCE Aquobex is the UK’s leading specialist manufacturer of flood protection products. Over the last 15 years the Floodguard range of products have become a brand trusted by Government, insurers and other expert organisations. Whereas some customers prefer to manually deploy a flood barrier, we recognise that most prefer ‘passive’ flood protection, where the protection is in place all of the time regardless of whether you are at home, out at work or on holiday. In 2010 Aquobex worked closely with Europe’s leading door component man- ufacturers to design, build and test a flood door that would stand up to typical flood conditions as defined within the BSI Kitemark PASTM 1188-1. It was impor- tant to us that the flood door not only provided flood protection but would also stand up to the normal wear and tear associated with a residential door. The Floodguard uPVC Doors are a combination of the highest quality engi- neered components, specialist design and skilled manufacture which provide a quality product that will continue to perform for many years.\"(...) they all provided a courteous and professional service. FLOOD DOOR TESTING Achieving BSI Kitemark PAS1188:1 meant subjecting our test doors to static water, waves and current not just once but an entire cycle of repeat tests. This also included a long duration test over 48 hours to ensure that the performance of the door did not fall away over time. This is a mark of quality that shows the product is fit for purpose and manufac- tured. Passing a test for Kitemark certification is just the first step. Products then need to be manufactured consistently in accordance with a detailed procedure that ensures they can replicate the test performance. Then regular audits check that these processes are being followed and this leads to ISO 9001 (Quality Manage- ment) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) certification.
